@@Jan-ux7ht I do play it from time to time. Just have a hard time getting used to not being able to bind jump to scroll down and forward to scroll up. I like the smooth movement you have in tf2

Dude I misunderstood another guide a long time ago. I’ve been scrolling the jump input instead of move forward trying to tap strafe. I’ve been so confused bc it seems so easy lol. Well at least I got it now.

When do you have to use scroll wheel up?
Thank you this was really easy to understand. My only question is for the mouse wheel up keybind for forward movement...when I scroll up, my character only moves like an inch even if I scroll slowly. Is that normal for that keybind or am I supposed continuously move forward while I'm scrolling like I'm holding W?
I try to scroll kind of slowly, because it puts in multiple inputs, but the slowly moving forward is how it is for me too

guys i need help, when i gold crounch (crtl) i cant walk forward for some reason and no i dont think its a keyboard problem cuz i change the bind to right ctrl and it worked
How do you manage scrolling down then up in that small timeframe ? I’m forced to do it with spacebar (same with walljump + tapstrafe) cause scrolling up then down then up feels soooo weird
You only need to scroll one notch down to activate the jump so it’s just a quick flick down then a longer glide up. It was awkward at first but I hardly ever use my spacebar anymore.
There’s no real “right” way to do it. (Aside from binding w to mouse wheel up or down because then it won’t work at all) it just comes down to personal preference. Nothing wrong with using spacebar for the initial jump.

How many times to scroll up? Is ok just once or scroll up until the strafe is complete? If u tap strafe a 180 when using a jump pad is enough to scroll up just once or the whole time when doing the 180?
I scroll once, but I scroll the entire strafe because it'll input the W key throughout. If you're not sending enough W inputs then tap strafing won't work. Each W input changes the direction slightly in the direction that you're looking.
I don't know if you still respond to comments on this but do you have to bind either move forward or jump on scroll wheel for tap strafes? I've been finding it difficult to use and curious if I could just use W and Space
I always try to respond to comments :) You have to bind move forward to scroll wheel (either up or down) in order to tap strafe, but not jump.
A rough idea of how tap strafing works is that each time you move forward (W) you move in the direction you're looking at. So if you bind W to change in quick succession while changing where you're looking, you can change your direction mid-air.
You'd have to mash W pretty much faster than humanly possible in order to tap strafe without it bound to scroll wheel

During the actual tap strafe (after you've looked and used scroll wheel up) do you still hold crouch as your camera is in the process of moving left/right?
If you want to slide, yes, if you want to stop your momentum, no. Completely situational, but I typically keep holding it down.

After tying it for a hour i can do the (easy) one sometimes but how do people do a 180 it is way to hard
This is hard for me because after years of keyboard and mouse binding my scroll wheel to anything other than weapon swaps, it feels so foreign and like a whole different game 🥴

Theoretically if you spammed your W key you could do it, you need to consistently have a forward input to tap strafe

Could you please explain why you are saying shift and W to gain momentum in the beginning? I don’t understand where the Shift comes in. I have zero binds for shift unless you do?

can i dont bind scroll down as jump? tap strafing still seems to work without it, and im so used to scroll down to quick swap weapons
You can change it to scroll wheel up but the way tap strafing works is that each time you have a W input you’ll move in that direction, so having a stream of them while moving where you look is what makes the turn so fast. You can do slight turns without the scroll wheel but you can’t 90 degree or 180 degree tap strafe without it
@@incprovement the way i do it is bind W to scroll wheel up. no problems there. I do a slide jump with space and then do the tap strafe with scroll wheel up mid-air. it seems to work fine, and i can also do a full 180, but i dont know if im doing it correctly or not. jumping with space bar doesn’t effect anything, at least for me
how do you kepe your momentum after tap strafing? i just kind of come to a stop.
You have to press W again, or keep holding crouch to continue a slide.

A simple way to explain why it works is that each time you have a W input you move forward in that direction, by using a scroll wheel to constantly have that input going and changing the direction you’re looking is why it works. If you only press W once you only move in that single direction.
By having the input going constantly you change direction constantly

So in a summary from what I could understand is just scroll wheel = the movement for everything
Basically. Each scroll wheel with the W input moves you forward in the direction you’re looking, so it’s perfect for quick curves and turnarounds
i cant tap strafe for some reason i reset my setting on accident and i put everything in the video and now i randomly cant tap strafe and i could really good before i reset my settings do you know why?
Make sure none of the settings are duplicated anywhere and the timing is correct is the best advice I can give. Also, make sure that you’re not using the scroll wheel too fast because it does have to have constant inputs

Every time you press W it allows for the direction to be changed, which is why multiple W inputs are necessary. If you only press W once or twice, you’re only going to move a small bit. You’d have to spam W at an incredible speed in order to tap strafe, much easier to bind it to mouse wheel. I prefer mouse wheel up but wheel down works too.
how am i supposed to shoot and scroll at the same time
I personally use my middle finger to scroll which lets me use my pointer to shoot, but I’ve seen some people (like treeree) who bind shoot to right click and use their pointer finger to scroll

Tap strafing only works if there’s a constant W input because each W input changes your direction to where you’re looking.
If you only use W you’d have to mash it repeatedly while you moved the mouse. Scroll wheel is much easier.

Why is move forward bound to scroll up?
Because in order to tapstrafe you must have a constant W input (multiple inputs)
Scroll up is just what I prefer for it, you can also do scroll down.
So why do people say this isn't possible on controller? I don't play Apex, I play Fortnite and this would be a move I'd use in Fortnite on controller. The angles might not be as squared, but that's not necessarily a bad thing

Some people pick it up faster than others, but it doesn’t mean you aren’t bad if you don’t get it straight away.
I’ve had people claim they pick up supergliding easy peasy but I still struggle with it

It’s good for turning corners sharply or redirection after a wall bounce. It’s very hard to utilize this in fights unless you specialize in movement. Tap strafing isn’t needed to be good at the game but I find it fun to do
