Very few orchestras could so brilliantly pull off such a fast tempo!

@@assreductionist8575 I know and I don't mean technical precision. I mean the way, they're expessing the music. Soft sound with massive volume without losing only one bit of tone quality

I wouldn't say every professional orchestra can play in tune and perfectly together. I would say it's absolutely a minority who can go without effort together

    • @philippebertram7769

Indeed. But such a fast tempo is 'degenerative' if not 'degenerate' (as Putin says). I am not sure today's 'global' artists understand the music as well as in the 1970s (whether in the West or in the East). It's all about performing and showing in tune, no longer about playing and meaning in depth... Of the two Kirills I prefer Kondrachine in Moscow in 1978 !

I have never really listened to this type of music, being into heavy rock, but watching this I can fully understand why people enjoy it. I want to like it and understand it. All those beautiful musical instruments played beautifully by a bunch of talented musicians. I'm not sure I would ever buy this type of music but I'd probably quite happily watch it live, especially an orchestra up to the standard of this one.

Do you know? the actual and unmistakable sound of the Berlin Phil has returned under Maestro Petrenko... they sound as they did in the days of Karajan.... no orchestra in the world plays as the Berlin Phil do, nor will they ever. The people of Berlin are so very fortunate to have them.....
