Indeed. But such a fast tempo is 'degenerative' if not 'degenerate' (as Putin says). I am not sure today's 'global' artists understand the music as well as in the 1970s (whether in the West or in the East). It's all about performing and showing in tune, no longer about playing and meaning in depth... Of the two Kirills I prefer Kondrachine in Moscow in 1978 !

All those beautiful musical instruments played beautifully by a bunch of talented musicians. I'm not sure I would ever buy this type of music but I'd probably quite happily watch it live, especially an orchestra up to the standard of this one.

I live in cincinnati ohio usa. Wont be going either. But past few years been listening to Bach. Started listening to the BWV. In order. Probably listen to more Bach than rock

Why do you say that Petrenko is not a great conductor? Petrenko does not always solve everything with speed! He is a conductor who knows how to go deep… you should have listened to Rosenkavalier at La Scala: pure poetry! how can you say that he is not great? He is very great!
