So relatable. However many many years ago I started any new game preparing my own Sequence of Play with all the information, short rules, caveats and exceptions summarized inside. I just follow my SoP and after 2 or 3 review it contains everything and as a flow chart you can not miss anything anymore.

@@2orLess My EotS is still on the shelf :-) but I have for many others including monsters like EA:Ardennes or Carrier. Also these SoP are not all in English and I use a lot of abbreviation meaningful to me only :-)

Thanks for the comment, and for your dedication - France 1944 was the first of yours I bought and I still rattle its dice now and then.
I’ve played EotS six or seven times since making the video, it really hits the sweet spot for complexity and depth, constantly challenged by the card draws.

Thanks for the primer. You are definitely right about how intensive the first playhrough of a wargame can be. Still, it sounds like you consider the reward is worth the investment time. I have "The Third Reich" and "Struggle for Europe" to game that theater, but have been wanting one to cover the Pacific. It sounds like "Empire of the Sun" may be the game I'm looking for. Cheers!

Is that, rise and decline of the third reich? I must dig it out again - not sure if it will have aged well with it's daunting rule book --- I think with EotS, after that quite demanding trial, I'm surprised at how keen I am to reset and go again. Usually I need little down time to absorb my mistakes--and it's easy to make many mistakes. ;o
