    Quick old school tip for you, if you ever start to overheat again and you cant turn the car off immediately because you're in traffic. Quickly crank the climate temperature up to high and turn the fan on full blast, it will draw all the hot air out of the engine bay and help cool the engine down.

      That’s really helpful thanks for the tip!

    That's how I blew my engine on my Stinger. I didn't drive on it but maybe 3 minutes. They replaced the engine! Just got it back in June. Almost 4 months later. Supposedly a rock punctured the radiator which caused the leak. My insurance covered through comprehensive. It was a nightmare. But I'm glad it's over! Good luck with your car.

      It only took 3 minutes? Did it blow right away or did it start showing signs down the line and fail later?

    Sucks to hear that, sounds either like the Tech who worked on your car rushed or didn't know how to properly bleed the system. Good to hear you got treated like you own an expensive car though as I've heard other stories with Kia dealerships. As for the engine, 1000% you are fine. New engines are pretty strong and the internals are forged on Stingers so I wouldn't worry.

    Pretty careless on KIA techs part, sorry this happened to you and I'm glad the car is fine.

    I'm having a similar issue with my 2020 gt-line, for some reason I will randomly see my temp gauge shoot all the way up to the red in seconds, the dash screams at me, but when I pull over not so much as a drop of coolant. When I take it to the dealership, the techs can't replicate it and told me it's a glitch in the computer :/

    When I took my Stinger for an oil change at 30K the dealership told me it was due for a coolant change. I informed them that my manual stated 120K. They then showed me a general 30K service chart that didn't specify between models. When I showed them the service schedule for my Stinger on the Kia Access app they were surprised. I didn't have the coolant changed. I did expect them to recommend GDI service which they didn't. Has anyone else had the GDI service and how was it?

  • @Geo-iz4oi

    Same thing happened to me last weekend.
    I noticed smoke coming from the engine bay, checked and saw coolant spraying out. Adjusted the clamp and everything seemed fine. Next morning the engine began overheating. Mind you, Im not really car savvy, buti filled the coolant reservoir and it was still overheating. ( I properly didnt bleed it out correctly)
    But I was so stressseddddddd. I thought how could a brand new fucking car not be able to take something as simple as intakes?
    And I blamed myself for it. So I took the intakes off and put stock ones back on.
    They diagnosed it was an air pocket and Im contemplating putting the K&N intakes back on .
    Advice?? Haha

    • @SammyBGarage
      @SammyBGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry to hear that brotha. According to the tech at the kia dealership near me it is a fairly common issue. I doubt your intakes had anything to do with it. You should be fine to reinstall them. I would recommend getting a tune if you plan on getting an exhaust on top of the intake to adjust for the extra air coming in.

  • @miggz8093
    @miggz8093 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    So when you go get oil changes at the dealers with the tune and intakes, do they file that your car has aftermarket parts and your warranty gets voided ? Or do they just not even say anything do your oil change charge you and you’re out your way ? Curious bc i wanna mod my stinger wiht atlests intakes, catch can, bov Would i need to take them off before going in, or also can i just get a oil change else where so i won’t have to take off my mods and will that’ still let me slide with kias warranty

    • @SammyBGarage
      @SammyBGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I’ve taken my car there with an intake and exhaust, and they’ve never said anything, from what I’ve heard they will only void your warranty in specific situations where the problem they are fixing can be directly linked to your mods. As for the tune, I doubt they realized I had one because it is on a spare ecu. If your Kia stinger experiences a critical failure then I would probably recommend taking off your mods before going because they will look into it further in that situation.

    The so called tech didn't properly bleed the coolant system. If in fact they did a drain and refill of the coolant. Kia dealership is a joke. The absolute worst part about owning a Stinger. In the owners manual it states the coolant is good for 120k mi. So why df did they change yours? Sorry for the bad experience.

    • @SammyBGarage
      @SammyBGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea I’ve had pretty bad experiences any time I’ve taken my stinger to a dealership, I should’ve known, that’s what I get for being lazy and not doing my own oil change for once I guess

    Hey man , quick question did you install the cold air intakes or it was the dealership, and does it void the warranty??

    • @SammyBGarage
      @SammyBGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I installed them, no it doesn’t void the warranty, the only way they could void the warranty because of intakes would be if my engine failed or has a problem and they can link it directly to my intakes. Even then it only voids it for that specific situation not overall.

      @@SammyBGarage Actually young man, It doesn't void your warranty at all, period. As the owner of the vehicle you have every right to improve performance and fuel efficiency, by adding those C.A.I to your Kia Stinger, You are protected by the "Magnuson Warranty Act" So If Kia tried to burn you for adding C.A.I to your Stinger, you would have a very winnable lawsuit against Kia, and they know it.
      Not, only that, If you use the K&N C.A.I, K&N would step up to the plate and Go-to bat for you, as they Guarantee you this in writing when you buy their product. I highly recommend K&N simply because of this very promise. Other Manufacturers of C.A.I do not offer this service for free, Like K&N does.

    Why in hell did they asked you to change the coolant at only 30k miles? That like 45k km. I've been servicing my 2020 stinger GT only at KIA and i have 60k km on it and they never did my coolant. So far only oil changes and filters. I'm going to be there this weekend for service and I'm going to ask.

    • @SammyBGarage
      @SammyBGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I thought it was kind of odd as well. I just had them do the 30,000 mile service and it was included. I looked into it and apparently that is Kia’s standard procedure at that mileage

    • @avis1978
      @avis1978 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SammyBGarage and look what happened now. It's only recommended. just like it's recommended to put 91. You can still put 87 and nothing will happen. This days coolant can last 100k miles or 4 years. They just looking to make extra money.

    • @BaconNationChannel
      @BaconNationChannel 27 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@avis1978 I would still put 91 in it for the motors sake. It's not just about octane, it is because of the additives that they add to the fuel. Believe it or not but that does keep your engine running longer in the end.

      The dealership properly bled the system once it was towed back and the owner of the dealership said that he would take care of any issues that were to arise from the incident, luckily as of now the car is still running fine.
