I’m a programmer, with almost 10 years of experience, and believe me I never bothered to learn touch typing till recently, for me to be efficient with touch typing I must master how to use the right little finger as lots of characters I use a lot are on the leftest side of the keyboard, characters like {,},[,],|\. Hopefully, your videos can help me get there
You're welcome. Just keep practicing. Once you feel ready, trying some typing games is a fun way to improve. Just make sure you're at the point where you don't have to look at the keys first.
That's a great question and something that I should address in future videos. Because those are modifier keys, the best finger to use is highly dependent on the other key that you're going to press in combination. Obviously, the pinky and ring fingers are good options when it works but you may also find the thumb useful for these keys - that's what I use quite a bit.
If you have to in the beginning to type with the proper finger than, yes, that is totally fine. As you be come more nimble, you should need to rotate less and less and you will probably stop without even knowing it. Just make sure you can get back to the home row without looking if you need to rotate your hands a bit.
@@AnsonAlexander Ok, was just curious since in video you've rotated your hand. I can freely move ring and pinky on my left hand without letting my other fingers go from home row, but right hand is very untrained haha
Yeaah i aint doing this. I'm gonna go back to typing how i normally type. Hands all over the keyboard but i know where every key is. Not gonna try to do this. Tried before, and can never manage to even reach at all.
Funny how you tell us to use our right pinky to type the letter p while you would actually use your ring finger to type it as displayed a few times at the start of the video😂
Haha yep, if you watch my courses I explain how people will develop their own habits but, when you're first learning, it's important to try to type according to the chart to build muscle memory as best as possible. If you can consistently use your ring to type P like I do, then it should not hurt your accuracy or speed once you've built up your muscle memory.
oh! all my life I thought, only my fingers are weak. I thought something is wrong with pinky fingers. thanks for the video. it gave me confidence.
Reuploaded with sound on both sides. Thanks for letting me know Cody!

Yes and, of course, those fingers are the most difficult. Find some fun games and enjoy the journey: th-cam.com/video/bI-MBNC35X8/w-d-xo.html
