How A LADAKHI Village Home Treated Me | Phyang Village, Himalayan Farmstays

So generally after Leh most of the people head to Nubra valley or Pangong Lake, but this is where I decided to experience Ladakh a bit differently. The idea was to observe the local culture and the way of life from a close proximity. And thats why, I chose Himalayan Farmstays in Phyang village for a rural Ladakhi experience. Located around 20 kms away from Leh, Phyang is a peaceful picturesque village. With the majestic backdrop of Stok Kangri, towering Phyang monastery and a green settlement amidst the barren rugged mountains, this village is picture postcard perfect.
In 2021 Ladakh received around 300,000 tourists and most of them came in just four months from June to September and this is slowly & gradually killing Leh, due to overcrowding and over pressurizing the resources of this small fragile city. But if tourism is the problem, then let it also be the solution. With this mantra in mind, Sonam Wangchuk and his team started HImalayan Farmstays. An initiative of Himalayan Institute of Alternatives, they are trying to divert tourism away from Leh and develop meaningful agrotourism in the nearby villages.

I have been phyang in last october and stayed with this family. Uncle and aunty both are very friendly, feels like a home here . Aunty even showed us how they make a butter tea. This is heritage home stay,if someone wants to experience how local stays in ladakh,you should visit something like this which is outside of Leh.
Fiang village located in Leh district , definitely, is a picturesque locale in Ladhak.As rightly said that Leh is now exploding whereas Phayang is imploding.. Traditionally, tourists throng to Leh instead of exploring Phayang,though they happen to be at the same altitude.Leh, no doubt, have beautiful spots like Nubra valley and Pengong lake. However, in order to draw more tourists towards other places like Phayang to have insight of Ladkhi culture, this video is inspiring.Heritage walk gives an insight of interiors and serves the purpose to visit such places.Hospitality at home stay and gorging on scrumptious local food are simply awesome and deserves a praise.. Beautiful..
