Art teacher here and I just love your method! I can’t wait to introduce you to my students. Middle and high schoolers who are often fearful of making “mistakes.” I agree with your advice and words of wisdom. Plus, your voice is soothing to listen to. Keep telling your stories while you paint! ❤️
Lovely to see you in full flow Stuart, I hope you are feeling better and raring to go. I love the painting, there are times I look at it while you are painting and to my untrained eye it looks glorious and done ,then you approach it once more with your brush and I inwardly scream ( no) You then calm my fears by adding magic. I wish you well Stuart, you brighten my day and make an old woman very happy, keep spreading your magic.
So pleased you are feeling better and able to make more videos, which in my opinion are fabulous. Just love your artwork, and being a Brit I also love your sense of humour...you have me in stitches many a time. Your reference to your college days in this video just slayed me. For goodness sake Stuart, please stay healthy so you can continue imparting your wonderful talent, on many levels, to us all.
Shapes, shapes ... Contrasts and colours, and texture. But the shapes of colours to make the effect of trees and areas of land and so on are so wonderful.
I totally enjoyed that lesson and the resulting product of your imagination, creative expertise and intuitive choices. Love the colors at play in the mix of suggested and definitive landscape living: alive in awe and wonder; all rise toward the aerial drama fomenting a turbulence and churning up thunder in challenge of the beauteous day dawning. Such a gloriously dichotomous vision of life!
Rigger freak right here - guilty as charged! Good to hear your voice again my friend - love the red ochre. You always have such a way with colors! Cheers Stu and many thanks for the latest treat!
Thoroughly enjoyed watching you develop this scenery Stuart. Love the glowing colours of the sky: The pinks and the Grey's etc., Mixed with The subtleness of blended drama rising over a tranquil landscape. Very cathartic and calming
👋Hi Stuart, your technique is a fabulous way to create a wonderful painting. I find that landscapes created from memory or your own imagination look less stiff than landscapes strictly painted from a reference photo. The sky looks great, the storm clouds seem to be in motion and the trees sway in the wind. Only four colors are enough so far to leave an excellent impression of a possible spot on earth that actually exists. You almost want to know what is hidden behind the hills in the distance and what is going on there. There always remains something mysterious that you want to fathom and enough room for your own imagination, which makes your paintings extremely interesting. - Thanks Stuart, I enjoyed every minute, look forward to more work from you, wishing you a speedy recovery and a pleasant weekend. 🧡
Stuart, I am so so delighted to see you back at the easel and making us wonderful videos again! You have been sorely missed….you are a calm island in the stormy seas! Love the painting! Thank you.❤️
Thank you, Stuart! This is awesome!! You certainly need not worry about gathering more popularity! I learned so much!! As usual, I am looking forward to the next one!❣️❣️❣️👏👏👏
To me who usually paints in Water Color....your techniques result in a beautiful loose, flowing work of art..I will start using oils too like this... WC using oil...Thanks for teaching these techniques in your filming!☺ Lory Lewis
Lots of good advice about painting skies! Some new advice about the 'smoothing brushes' too - very useful - not nylon, go for the rougher ended pasting style brush. Thank you Stuart, tomorrow is a painting day (a sky) I hope I will remember everything!
Well Professor, I’m going to give this one my best shot, so I can get your feedback in our next Zoom Class🤞. Really enjoyed this one! Despite your being a rigger braggart (😉), those who follow you, do indeed think you’re special. My fav word you’ve created thus far is, “bulbous nimbus.” 😁
So lovely again this painting, dear Sir. One question if possible. After you gesso the panel, do you coat it with some paint before you start painting, or start painting straight on the gesso surface? Thanks very much. Your admirer forever. ❤
Stuart, I hope you are on the road to recovery and you bounce back from the economic circumstances you mentioned. Have you ever tried painting a tornado? You do such dramatic skies, in some of your works I envision a tornado in the distance.
@@StuartDavies Thank you for your reply. One more question, please, if you were to use Liquin within your mix, by how much do you think that the drying time might be reduced?
A bientôt, Laurette. P.S. : Ai mis votre vidéo en pause 🙂
No worries about inches. We, the people of the United States of America, can either embrace the metric system or do the calculations. Some day we may join the rest of the world. I love your videos.
I see you have a lot of happy accidents in your paintings. My Dad was a musician and he said about musical accidentals, “They shouldn’t be called ‘accidentals,’ they should be called ‘on purposes.’ So when I encounter an accident when I paint in your classes, I will treat them like they were there on purpose.

I like it when you bring your landscapes closer to the viewer, I really like this one in particular. compliments
Thank you very much!

Radical art entertainment constructive instructive enlightening and liberating.

Thanks! A tornado... Perhaps one day :-)
Did you use the same paint brush for the green and red, the entire painting? I’m brand new to this!
Yes.
could you please post info about the African mahogany panels?
Just Google 'Okoume plywood', that will give you more info than me.
@@StuartDavies Thank you very much for this onfo.
🙏👌💙
13.32, re, watching paint dry - what sort of time period does it take for one of your completed painting to dry ?
It varies according to how thick the paint is, but probably a couple of months for me.
@@StuartDavies Thank you for your reply.
One more question, please, if you were to use Liquin within your mix, by how much do you think that the drying time might be reduced?
Vos arbres me font un peu penser à ceux de Corot que j'aime beaucoup 🙂
J'oubliais : vous êtes un excellent pédagogue !

I love your videos.
I thought cloud gazing was a kids game that exasperated parents invented because the tv broke again
I see a rabbit in the area of clouds to the left…dark area lol 😂
