    A busy day on MalaMala: The Torchwood pride with an ostrich kill, the Kambula pride trailing a herd of buffalo, the 3:2 son of the Emsagweni female hunting nyala, the Lookout female steals a kill and the news that the Island female is pregnant!
    ...
    For all those who wanted to come to MalaMala but cannot, we'd like to bring MalaMala to you. In the coming weeks we'll endeavour to share with you everything from game drives to field work. Basically, what rangers do when we don't have guests. Enjoy and stay safe.

    If I make it to retirement, this is something I’m gonna do for sure. This is so majestic you simply HAVE to see it at least once in your life. It’s no doubt amazing to see all this with your own eyes right there, especially if you’re an optics freak this experience must be overwhelming.
    Thank you for your videos. I’m sure I speak for a lot of people when I say that your channel has been an absolute blessing in these troubling times. It might sound ridiculous but for me it is an escape from the harsh reality we’re all facing nowadays. A wonderful reminder of the beauty and grandeur of nature and indeed a tribute to life itself.

    I don't think it was "contempt"... I think that's as close as you're going to get to seeing a lonely leopard and a lonely hyena "enjoying each others' company", this side of Heaven.

    Looks like the leopard is pregnant, no?

    • @MalaMalaGameReserve
      @MalaMalaGameReserve  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The two species know each other very well - they know the other’s strengths and weaknesses and they know their own.

    • @billyyank5807
      @billyyank5807 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If she's about to give berth,it's not worth worth the risk to kick the hyena out. It's not doing anything. And by turning her back and laying down it's like the ranger said,completely dismissive.
      These types of interactions probably happen more than people think. These animals know one another. They know each others individual scent. Seems unusual but it's really not. Only lions won't tolerate hyenas like that.

    I highly doubt a male leopard would loose in a one on one fight with a hyena

    • @PAULLONDEN
      @PAULLONDEN 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There would probably be no winner.......both would be mangled to the point they were unable to hunt .
      Even though an adult male leopard is indeed an awesome opponent , if the hyena would crush just one paw of the leopard , which might certainly happen in such close contact it would be game over.
      While a badly wounded hyena would still be able to scavenge.

  • @PatrickEgwu
    @PatrickEgwu 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great footage as usual, but I’m not confident in your assessment of leopard vs spotted hyena - do you think an adult female hyena can beat a big male leopard in a one-on-one fight? That is, if both animals were to stand their ground and really fight? I read this case a few years ago, of a male in the Kruger that had actually managed to kill on three separate occasions, adult hyena. Plus of course, we have seen here on TH-cam, footages of leopards successfully killing almost adult hyenas.
