It still haunts me to this day to realize that Tyr was NEVER in Svartleheim, that the god we rescued, ate with, and spent time with us was Odin this whole time. Top 10 greatest betrayals in video games.
I remember thinking how odd it was that Tyr's jail was so poorly guarded during my first play through. No actual Asgardian guards or fighters in sight ... and now it makes sense. Also looking back at things, it's crazy how much Tyr stirs the pot and has actually been the cause or the instigator for many of Kratos' and Atreus' fights throughout the game.

2018 game is great as it is, but the fact that this game even improved from there is such a huge feat. Never in my life have I seen a sequel make its original seem like just a prequel. Ragnarok had everything that was good from the first game and improved on it even further which I thought wasn't possible. Also, I really REALY love the relationship between Kratos and Atreus. They might not see eye to eye on a lot of things, but this whole game boiled down to both of them just trying to keep each other safe, and the love they have is very moving, and got me crying multiple times throughout this playthrough lmaooo. Last game was about Atreus learning how to be a god with Kratos' help, but this game is about Kratos learning how to let his son go and walk his own path and it's soooo beautifully done

She loved them so much 😭She's also giving Kratos a chance to correct his past mistakes and live as a benevolent God of War in a way that he never was able to back in Greek 😭 It's so well done

Because in the ending of the last game, we see her on the mural arguing against her people before her death, also the last part that shows Kratos' death was covered, so I'm assuming she didn't like her family's ending and then got busy on changing things. I assume she was the only one who knew of the changes she made, because Angrboda was still working on the previous prophecy that her people saw (the one that she eventually shows Atreus- the one with Kratos dying at the end). The ending for this game shows a separate shrine from the rest, which must have been Faye's doing. It shows everything Kratos and Atreus has done that weren't present in any of the shrine which ultimately still leads to Odin's death and the end of Ragnarok. The best part is, Kratos and Atreus weren't aware of this alternate ending, so they can still feel proud that everything that happened truly was from their own actions and efforts, even if Faye already predicted everything herself. The Norns say that fate is more about people being rigid about their behavior and their actions rather than an actual prediction set in stone, so people's "ending" doesn't change because they as people do not change. So maybe Faye banked on the fact that her boys would choose to change and choose to get better together, while Odin would still remain a jackass, which creates that same situation that caused people to eventually rise up against him.
Blows my mind that so many people didn’t see the ending as the sloppy anticlimax that it was, writing and heartfelt moments were decreased tenfold since the previous instalment (I don’t believe the entire game’s writing is bad but it certainly dies with Brok)

The person who played Sindri is one of the best game actors iv ever seen the way he handles his brothers death is one of the most realistic iv ever seen in a game.
It belonged to Freyr not Freya, and the game changed basically every side creature into a female which is probably why they changed the name. The sword, Nidhogg, Hræsvelgr, the nordic version of a Kelpie, and more. They wanted to refer to it all as a "she" so I guess thats why they changed the name.
so atreus and angroboda gave life to the giant snake which kept growing and growing until it become the world serpent (it got big in the span of the game) it came to asgard (most likely with fenrir and angroboda) and fights thor and gets sent back in time to the 2018 game. the 2018 world serpent who stays in the lake of nine is still there and didn’t technically fight in ragnorak his past self did
I think they said in the first game that the clash of Jorgunmandr's and Thor's power together was so strong that it sent the serpent back in time so that would help explain the loop. So now my theory is that, from the first game, remember how someone blew the horn when Kratos was bringing an unconscious and sick Atreus to Freya, maybe this was future Atreus calling Jorgunmandr for help and transporting him to the war in Ragnarok. My theory is that future Atreus (one who's able to time travel now as he learns more about his giant and god abilities) makes everything in Ragnarok come to fruition. All those marks, handprints and trails that guides us throughout this game resembles Atreus' art and style, so it might be future Atreus doing what Faye did for them during the first game- lay out a track to follow. It would also help explain why there were just random things popping up here and there like random giants' marbles inside of shrines, torches and firepits that are already lit up in areas that were previously abandoned, and even Odin's noose that was just randomly draped on some random branch that was conveniently spotted by Freya.There's clearly someone working behind the scenes making sure everything works out right and I think it might be future, grown up Atreus. Mimir also comments that Atreus seemed familiar to him in the first game, and maybe future Atreus visits Mimir back in time to ask for information or advice? Idk man, but there's definitely time travel elements in this game, and I think it will be further explored next time.

@@jamaylarenea I think the way they make it Loki's "children" in this game is that technically Atreus made the serpent with Angrboda when they placed that giant's soul in that dead snake in the giant's grandma's house, and Atreus would then do the same with Fenrir's soul that was initially stuck in his blade, that he then put in that giant dog in Hellheim. So in a way, they are technically his "children" because he did "create" them, so it's a great way to stick to the mythos, but still make it fit within the game, because we can't possibly show these young ass kids actually doing the THING and giving birth to big ass creatures 😭

Makes sense since it was never in front of your face explained in ragnarok. But the one thing that's still not exactly clear or I should say known is, in 2018 freya said that one day the snake came to Midgard and it grew, implying it wasnt big to begin with in that time frame (2018 timeframe). Either that's a mistake (doubtful) they made or theres something else we dont know. In other words, with that said, we dont truly know WHEN Jormangandr in this game was sent back. Couldve been a different timeline than 2018 and somehow finds himself in Midgard later on.

So in this present game (after Angrboda and Atreus puts the soul in the snake), there's two Jorgunmandr alive; one from the previous game that stays in midgard and just disappears after a while, and another that's barely created, fights Thor, and is then sent back to the past during the fight. So this time "loop" is more of a paradox like you said; so technically, we would just be getting an infinite amount of Jorgunmandrs since the loop always adds an extra Jorgunmandr per cycle
The amount of respect freya has for Kratos is crazy she’s literally one of the strongest gods out there and she respects him and he her even the Valkyrie’s like yeah he the real deal fs i fw that they got 1 op ass army
kratos wiped out the Greek pantheon which is one of the strongest pantheons, stronger than the norse pantheon. Zeus alone could solo the Norse. of course she respects his power. even the creator, cory, said kratos never used more than 30% of his power in the first game, for fear of scaring Atreus. Kratos is a monster.
I understand Elden Ring was out longer but damn this game deserved GOTY. Had me crying at multiple points. Story and the scores were just beautiful and heart-wrenching.
I not only walked out of this series emersed with a glorious game, but with a different mindset completely. I don't think I've ever gained what I gained from this game in any other game or series. Game. Of. The. Year.
This was an amazing journey. I'm thankful to im_dontai for having the best GOW Ragnarok playthrough and grateful that I was able to catch the streams for all three days. This whole experience was Goated.
Brok makes me sad bruh. Mimir said a little comment about how souls can't find eternal rest/peace within the lake of soul or the light of alfheim if they are not whole. And based on Sindri, Brok is missing one of his four souls, which means he will be stuck in Norse version of a limbo. Yet despite all of that, Brok forgives his brother in the end and never holds it against him, even when his brother cursed him to an eternity of unrest ......

People like Monte don't get it. It was Odin who tricked everyone, it was Odin who knocked on their door in the beginning and caused a mess. Hell, even WAY BEFORE Atreus was born and Kratos came to Midgard, Odin was already messing everyone. Atreus is at fault for some decisions, yes, but it was ultimately Odin who pulled the strings and caused so much misfortune to everyone.

i think Odin came to the house specifically to have kratos find out that Atreus was looking for Tyr so that they would go and get him and then he would have eyes and ears in their inner circle. he outplayed them from the very beginning. Odin has always been a mastermind.
Even though there were many bugs in the clips throughout the game I’m glad donatai still out in the effort to put this whole thing out. My Xbox stopped working and this gameplay has helped me the entire time instead of being bored at home. ❤
The fact that he cries at seeing what he always wanted is amazing this is the perfect ending to kratos story he gets to be loved and appreciated by all who knows his name no longer is he a monster he is now a hero the god of heroes maybe?

Isn’t the Norse saga done? Maybe we’ll see him in a game with Atreus. I feel like they gonna Freya him and make him back good cuz of how much people love him.
I feel like he just needs time, and it's a lot of self-guilt and self-hate on his part that's making him act this way. It was his choice to bring his brother back to life, and it's due to this (and the part of his soul that was lost in the process) that now prevents his brother from even finding peace in the light even after death. I don't think he truly hates Atreus because he does still fight for him. Even when Thrud shows up, Sindri immediately goes in front of Atreus and is ready to go toe to toe with Thor's daughter to protect him.
Lowkey one of the best games I’ve ever played, so happy that Tai finished it. God of War is such a amazing series, 1-3 being the blood and guts murderfests that they are with a huge tonal shift going into 4 as we watch out characters grow in real time, forming new insecurities and quirks then having those change as well. The game looked amazing, the voice acting was great, and so was the actual gameplay. I have no idea where they are taking GOW 6 but I know it’ll be perfect. (Hoping they go out of Europe tbh)
Tbh there won't be gow6, instead it would be a atreus' spinoff because kratos is done with that life man he will now lead a peaceful life, let him live live and rest in his last days whereas alot of journeys related to giants await for atreus, maybe they can release a dlc for that but gow in general is done...sealed.. :(

i would hope so. unfortunately Elden Ring fans, while understanding they simply love their game as well, seem the be the type of hive-mind super fans to actually go out of their way to ensure it wins GOTY. botting the polls on the game awards website, making multiple accounts to vote and guarantee their game wins where as most people i've seen share the same sentiment about GOW just enjoyed the game for what it was wholeheartedly, regardless of it wins anything at all. Genuinely a modern masterpiece.
to answer the question that was brought up at the end of the stream, no you can't get his soul from alfheim because his soul never made it to alfheim. There are four pieces to a soul and the piece Brok lost was "direction" which is the part that guides you to the light of alfheim.

man i've seen just about everyone play this game already and his playthrough is hands down the absolute best one yet. even though i wish maybe he didn't do it all in one sitting so he didn't get so tired, but regardless he payed full attention to all the cutscenes, dialogue, bits of lore, the whole deal. watching him enjoy the game as thoroughly as i did makes me so happy.

Start to finish this game felt so fresh, having to adjust to different combat style + all the beautiful scenery + getting to actually slay dragons (3 separate side quests). So when Oden said Tyr is dead at the beginning he really meant it. Yikes. He tricked everyone. Maybe he said Tyr is dead to make Atreus want to find him more.
It was an setup the whole fucking time. To goad Atreus into the obsession that Tyr is alive, and then once they found them, slowly convince Atreus to go to Asgard.
So in attempting to create their own destiny, Kratos and Loki inadvertently follow the path laid out by Faye in the hidden shrine, where Kratos becomes the Champion of Jotnar and redeems himself as a God of War, not using his power for destruction, but rebuilding. Just goes to show that fate always trumps all.
If you watched this whole video without skipping anything then you have to say this is GOTY no debate. Ain't no way you can say anything is close besides Elden Ring.

Sadly there’s no afterlife for him😭. Poor Sindri as well. It’s sad that Sindri didn’t forgive Atreus and Kratos. Kinda mad at Sindri ngl cause it’s his fault for Brok not being able to have an afterlife. If they end up making another game I hope they don’t make Sindri a villain and he is able to have a decent relationship with them again. Freya was great. Ik many want Freya and Kratos to be a thing but tbh they shouldn’t. They’re good as close friends. This game deserves GOTY.
Another thing is when sindri makes the point of you just taking and taking without giving back just hits harder when you realize he really is right yeah sure you did some favors but it still doesnt make up for all the stuff sindri and brok made for you
@@rustickjack not really. kratos never asked for his axe to be upgraded when they met in the first game, they kinda forced it on him. after that, you can pay and provide materials for them to upgrade your stuff. the utility upgrades like the hel winds and arrow types weren't asked for or were a reward for helping them. the unique stuff/key items is usually done in return for a favor of some sort. not so much this game but definitely the first game. you don't really get much from them in this game. its pretty much never one sided. its also not really fair to offer to do something for someone out of goodwill or kindness and then hold that against them when something bad happens, thats just f*** up and immature. kratos also never asked to live with them, they offered that themselves. sindri also has blame in bringing Tyr their since he helped Atreus track him down in the first place.

I actually cried when he looked behind the other side to see people praising him And worshipping him after his past and people constantly calling a him a monster i never felt this way before the closest was when i played witcher 3 but the fact that a game made me breakdown is truly a testament to how beautiful this ending was and the story of kratos..he now has a purpose in life he is now a god to give people hope. I liked elden ring but no doubt this is definitely winning goty theres just nothing like it right now so many emotions i felt i was just constantly in awe.
Elden ring's pro is its gameplay. Not so much crazy of a story is there. But Ragnarök has both great gameplay and fantastic story. So as of now Ragnarök is the frontrunner for GOTY
@@dragosinha3175 Elden Ring actually has a phenomenal main story with multiple endings but a lot of its is not handed to you since it’s an open world game with literally 80+ routes to take to the end of the game. GOWR story is more linear which is not a problem at all but you just have to put a lot of time into elden ring to get a lot of the story.
I’m not sure if Dontai ever figured it out but I didn’t see when Mimir got Broks riddle, but it was shortly after Broks death that Mimir learns it’s a hole that gets bigger the more you take away and I honestly really liked that one in this game

It belonged to Freyr not Freya, and the game changed basically every side creature into a female which is probably why they changed the name. The sword, Nidhogg, Hræsvelgr, the nordic version of a Kelpie, and more. They wanted to refer to it all as a "she" so I guess thats why they changed the name.

so atreus and angroboda gave life to the giant snake which kept growing and growing until it become the world serpent (it got big in the span of the game) it came to asgard (most likely with fenrir and angroboda) and fights thor and gets sent back in time to the 2018 game. the 2018 world serpent who stays in the lake of nine is still there and didn’t technically fight in ragnorak his past self did
I think they said in the first game that the clash of Jorgunmandr's and Thor's power together was so strong that it sent the serpent back in time so that would help explain the loop. So now my theory is that, from the first game, remember how someone blew the horn when Kratos was bringing an unconscious and sick Atreus to Freya, maybe this was future Atreus calling Jorgunmandr for help and transporting him to the war in Ragnarok. My theory is that future Atreus (one who's able to time travel now as he learns more about his giant and god abilities) makes everything in Ragnarok come to fruition. All those marks, handprints and trails that guides us throughout this game resembles Atreus' art and style, so it might be future Atreus doing what Faye did for them during the first game- lay out a track to follow. It would also help explain why there were just random things popping up here and there like random giants' marbles inside of shrines, torches and firepits that are already lit up in areas that were previously abandoned, and even Odin's noose that was just randomly draped on some random branch that was conveniently spotted by Freya.There's clearly someone working behind the scenes making sure everything works out right and I think it might be future, grown up Atreus. Mimir also comments that Atreus seemed familiar to him in the first game, and maybe future Atreus visits Mimir back in time to ask for information or advice? Idk man, but there's definitely time travel elements in this game, and I think it will be further explored next time.

@@jamaylarenea I think the way they make it Loki's "children" in this game is that technically Atreus made the serpent with Angrboda when they placed that giant's soul in that dead snake in the giant's grandma's house, and Atreus would then do the same with Fenrir's soul that was initially stuck in his blade, that he then put in that giant dog in Hellheim. So in a way, they are technically his "children" because he did "create" them, so it's a great way to stick to the mythos, but still make it fit within the game, because we can't possibly show these young ass kids actually doing the THING and giving birth to big ass creatures 😭

Makes sense since it was never in front of your face explained in ragnarok. But the one thing that's still not exactly clear or I should say known is, in 2018 freya said that one day the snake came to Midgard and it grew, implying it wasnt big to begin with in that time frame (2018 timeframe). Either that's a mistake (doubtful) they made or theres something else we dont know. In other words, with that said, we dont truly know WHEN Jormangandr in this game was sent back. Couldve been a different timeline than 2018 and somehow finds himself in Midgard later on.

So in this present game (after Angrboda and Atreus puts the soul in the snake), there's two Jorgunmandr alive; one from the previous game that stays in midgard and just disappears after a while, and another that's barely created, fights Thor, and is then sent back to the past during the fight. So this time "loop" is more of a paradox like you said; so technically, we would just be getting an infinite amount of Jorgunmandrs since the loop always adds an extra Jorgunmandr per cycle

Brok makes me sad bruh. Mimir said a little comment about how souls can't find eternal rest/peace within the lake of soul or the light of alfheim if they are not whole. And based on Sindri, Brok is missing one of his four souls, which means he will be stuck in Norse version of a limbo. Yet despite all of that, Brok forgives his brother in the end and never holds it against him, even when his brother cursed him to an eternity of unrest ......

Hell, even WAY BEFORE Atreus was born and Kratos came to Midgard, Odin was already messing everyone. I feel like he just needs time, and it's a lot of self-guilt and self-hate on his part that's making him act this way. It was his choice to bring his brother back to life, and it's due to this (and the part of his soul that was lost in the process) that now prevents his brother from even finding peace in the light even after death. I don't think he truly hates Atreus because he does still fight for him. Even when Thrud shows up, Sindri immediately goes in front of Atreus and is ready to go toe to toe with Thor's daughter to protect him.
Lowkey one of the best games I’ve ever played, so happy that Tai finished it. God of War is such a amazing series, 1-3 being the blood and guts murderfests that they are with a huge tonal shift going into 4 as we watch out characters grow in real time, forming new insecurities and quirks then having those change as well. The game looked amazing, the voice acting was great, and so was the actual gameplay. I have no idea where they are taking GOW 6 but I know it’ll be perfect. (Hoping they go out of Europe tbh)

to answer the question that was brought up at the end of the stream, no you can't get his soul from alfheim because his soul never made it to alfheim. There are four pieces to a soul and the piece Brok lost was "direction" which is the part that guides you to the light of alfheim.

The ending was nice and a little bittersweet. Thor didn’t deserve a bad ending. RIP to Thor. Apparently Tyr is alive and you can still go rescue him so that’s good. RIP to Brok too. Sadly there’s no afterlife for him😭. Poor Sindri as well. It’s sad that Sindri didn’t forgive Atreus and Kratos. Kinda mad at Sindri ngl cause it’s his fault for Brok not being able to have an afterlife. If they end up making another game I hope they don’t make Sindri a villain and he is able to have a decent relationship with them again. Freya was great. Ik many want Freya and Kratos to be a thing but tbh they shouldn’t. They’re good as close friends. This game deserves GOTY.

@@rustickjack not really. kratos never asked for his axe to be upgraded when they met in the first game, they kinda forced it on him. after that, you can pay and provide materials for them to upgrade your stuff. the utility upgrades like the hel winds and arrow types weren't asked for or were a reward for helping them. the unique stuff/key items is usually done in return for a favor of some sort. not so much this game but definitely the first game. you don't really get much from them in this game. its pretty much never one sided. its also not really fair to offer to do something for someone out of goodwill or kindness and then hold that against them when something bad happens, thats just f*** up and immature. kratos also never asked to live with them, they offered that themselves. sindri also has blame in bringing Tyr their since he helped Atreus track him down in the first place.

@@dragosinha3175 Elden Ring actually has a phenomenal main story with multiple endings but a lot of its is not handed to you since it’s an open world game with literally 80+ routes to take to the end of the game. GOWR story is more linear which is not a problem at all but you just have to put a lot of time into elden ring to get a lot of the story.
