    Cool medieval castle - I prefer it to a bigger fortress structure. Impressive cathedral. Love the churches. The fortress of Klis is awesome though. The lion at 19.05 looks like a BMW!

    Split is a great place, really enjoyed visiting! I have to say some of those lions have baboon noses 🐵

    Beautiful, another great Venetian episode. SPOILERS FROM HISTORY is something I now boom whenever we're reading information signs!!

      😆😆😆
      [Partridge voice]
      Video concept: Aquire a voice changer, hide behind famous monuments & leap out shouting 'Spoilers from History' at passing tourists

    The thought of being able to walk along the same corridors or see the same views (minus a few more recent buildings) as Diocletian saw is fantastic!
    {Edit: your frequent extremely brief text comment, timewise, are worth coming for alone! See 'History Spoiler small print, people}

    P.S. good video, for Venetian period it lacks mention of Kaštela fortification system and nearby Poljička Republika that was basis for Thomas Moore's Utopia.

      thks! yh that patch is a missing piece of our Croatian travels to this point

    I'm kinda falling in love with Croatia! Everything and everyone seems glorious - I'm beginning to hope that your pockets are picked, or your hire car was stolen, just to make it less attractive.

      yh downsides are hard to come by, tbh the biggest downside for Split & Dubrovnik is people like me crowding the streets in the height of summer
      otherwise yh hard not to love, i've not really seen Croatia out of season
      (Pula in October was pretty quiet - but its got enough going on with locals - it doesn't appear to have been hollowed out by tourists)

      was actually worried of being acused of lazy editing for those 😆 its much faster than carefully researching and finding a clip for every detail
      (tho that palace supercut in the middle took 2 hrs of my life last night, turns out i wasn't very dilligent in labelling my clips and trying to determine one building apart from another in the centre of split old town is a propper baked-bean-jigsaw-puzzle problem)

    Lack of lions in Split and Trogir is due to Late 19 th Century Croatian Nationalism and destruction of Venetian monuments. Lions were first to go.

    It is Spalato and Trau', not Split and Trogir.

      well sure ...if people happen to be typing the original Venetian dialect into search queries, otherwise - not the greatest SEO ever
