[ENG] Ricoh GRIIIx - I Was Wrong

I have always dismissed this camera for various reasons, but mostly because of the lack of some physical features. I was wrong, boy I was wrong.
This camera is surprising, and really targeted to everyday users, making their life easier.

I keep my custom modes assigned to various black and white profiles. I love the high contrast jpegs this camera spits out. The highlight weighted metering is another nice feature which doesn't get enough love. And it shoots passable IR images without sensor modification, with the appropriate filter. And I love the fact that it tends to disappear. Thank-you Ricoh for not putting your brand on it with white paint.

I ended up picking up both the iii and iiix, mostly because 40mm is a little tight indoors. The battery life sucks and the autofocus in low light struggles, but they are fantastic. They are purpose built and work wonderfully for the designed task. The lens is incredibly sharp, the stabilization helps a lot, and I find that the dynamic range beats Fuji. Fool around with both positive and negative film simulations (update the firmware for the latter) and you will be very happy. The ability to transfer ding raw files wirelessly is also very helpful when traveling. I only wish it still had the flash.

I don't mind the lack of a flash too much, but I agree 100% with all the rest. I definitely have to play with it more to get to the colors I want.

Battery doesn't suck at all. Just disable your lcd screen by pressing function button. Turn it on when you need it. My battery last for hours.

Compared to today's standards it sucks... But it's a tiny battery, so it's no surprise.

I have the sony zv-1,canon g7x mark ii, and ricoh gr iii. I love my Ricoh GR iii the best❤️❤️❤️

You could buy a optical view finder too that camera. Would be nice too have, special if pics are taken in sunlight..

La macchina mi piace molto perché è più piccola di uno smartphone Ed è l'unica APSC con queste dimensioni anche se è 1.6x come fattore di crop e non 1.5x
Chi acquista questa macchina deve accettare una miriade di compromessi
Quindi deve essere consapevole.
Io spenderei un po' di più e prenderei la x100v quando torna a prezzi umani per che ora è diventata introvabile e il prezzo è gonfiato

È una macchina molto diversa dalla x100V e proprio per questo ha molto senso. Si piazza in un segmento diverso per persone diverse.
