Hahaha yay!!!! I was so torn because I have another tutorial I need to do for a release but this one clearly had a huge demand! I’m so glad you love it!
You are an absolute angel for uploading this and writing a free pattern. I’m horrible at knitting but I’ve struggled to find a crochet sweater project that doesn’t look like the typical crochet stitches . Looking forward to trying this out 🙏
I absolutely love this with the chunky yarn! 💕🧶 The Alpine stitch is really beautiful. Thank you for sharing. I can't wait to make one. I will definitely sign up for your blog. 🧶💕
Thank you. Thank you!!! Thank you. I am a visual learner. This has been so helpful. Now I can make the sweater and the blanket!!!!!!!! I’m so excited ❤❤❤❤
Your kids sound so cute! I love this tutorial! I read the pattern but the tutorial really made me understand it better. Everything you create is so perfect and gorgeous. Thank you for sharing!
@@lifeandyarn I’m reporting back! I finished last week and wore it out twice and got compliments both times! I found it super helpful to follow this video but also reference the pattern if I got confused and it took me only a week of working on it after work to finish! Thanks for such a great pattern!
AHH!!! Yay!!! I’m so glad you enjoyed making it and that you’re getting compliments! Isn’t that the best feeling?!? Please take me if you share anywhere on social!!! 🥰🥰🥰
This is beautiful. I went for your free pattern but I can't make sense of it or find the sizing. I can use your video but I would need to make the petite.
Thank you so much! Another visual learner that was so hoping you would be back with a video! Do you think I can use a thick and quick size six yarn? I am in Canada and can’t locate that one locally…but my daughter loves the softness of the thick n quick.
This pattern is SOOO gorgeous. Thank you for sharing it with us, and taking the time to create a tutorial. I'm 5'9", wear size 0, and have a very short torso. Would following the 'petite' chain/stitch count and the 'plus' row count work for me?
I love this pattern and am currently making it as a gift for my precious sister-in-law and I'm so thankful for this video. I would love to know what method of joining yarn you prefer to use with the Hue and Me Yarn. I am now on my third skein of the main color, and have joined the first two by weaving them into each other (Russian join?), but would really appreciate hearing what method you use. Thank you and please keep these wonderful projects coming!
Hi! I leave a longish tail and work in a new skein when needed. Then I weave the ends into the stitches really good on the wrong side. But a Russian join is a great option too!
Hi there from sunny Cozumel, Mexico. Question, is there a substitute for the foundation double crochet row. I am having absolutely no success with this, despite many late night attempts. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I really want to make this for my daughter in Canada.
Hello! I'm curious about the yarn substitutions. You give the brands but not any specific details about the substitutions. Could you expand more on this please?
I might just be reading/hearing this wrong, but for the cuffs, you go from 13 row ends to 26 stitches. Are you doing 2 single crochets matched up with each 1 row from the original panel?
I am making this in the petite size and the pattern calls for 36 rows, which means it will end in a row with the contrasting color. Is this correct? How will the colors line up when you fold each side to stitch the arms together? I think I will make it 37 rows just to be safe, but look forward to your answer. Thanks! (P.S. - the pattern also calls for 66 stitches across, but I crocheted 67 to have an odd number.)
So the alpine stitch in your video is an odd number of stitches but in every other video I have watched of the alpine stitch it's done in even numbers. So can you make that make sense?
I do mine over an off number so that it starts and ends the same (with one or two dc) when you do it over even one side stairs with one and ends with two, it's just a preference for me.
Thank you for the pattern and tutorial! I'm a bit confused because you kept saying to have an odd number for your FDC but the petite size says to have 68. Should that be 69 or is the petite size the exception?
I just love this Kocoonigan and I have wanted to do it since I first saw it. However, I am brand new to crochet and I haven’t done anything like this before so I have a question. I am making the standard size and I had to make do with the yarn I already had. I have Lion brand bulky 6, Premier brand bulky 5 for the secondary color. I also do not have a #12 hook so I am attempting a #10. I have already learned that the tension on the secondary color needs to be supper loose to accommodate the size difference in the yarn. All that mess aside I am confused because I did 45 foundations and it’s measuring at 36 inches. It doesn’t look wide enough so I am thinking I am either not reading the pattern (the one in the link) correctly or my “minor “ changes aren’t so minor. So I guess I needed to ask if I can alter the hook and yarn like I have. Thank you again for such a wonderfully beautiful project
I’m so excited you are giving it a try! But yes, those changes aren’t very minor! A size 10 vs a 12 mm hook is going to make a huge impact on your gauge (number of stitches per inch) using a smaller hook will give you smaller stitches. There are ways that you can work around that BUT since you are newer to crochet I would suggest getting the larger hook to follow the pattern. I don’t want you to feel overwhelmed on your project!
@@lifeandyarn ok, so I went to five different stores looking for a #12, the closest I could get was 11.5 😤 and it cost me 13.99!! Can you tell me how many inches for length and width I should be looking for on a standard size pattern? If I knew that measurement I feel like I could make this work. It’s going to be denser than yours, but it’s for Northern Canada use so it’s a good thing to be warmer lol.
Ugh so frustrating! But the 11.5 should get you close…if you scroll way down in the pattern past the instructions I do have a diagram with all of the panel measurements before and after seaming…for the standard size you will need to hit 45” across, this goes wrist to wrist…there is quite a bit of stretch with this stitch so I wouldn’t make your row 1 that long because it will open up with more rows. I’d say follow the row 1 instructions and see how close you are to the 45”, if needed add a few extra making sure you keep an odd number for your total. 💕
So I have to pay for the pattern to make this. Well I can't afford that. So I will find something else plus I am a talk big big woman. 😢 just sad I really like the style of this project

I agree, the Lion Brand website makes it look like you have to buy the yarn to get the pattern but if you click on the pattern button, it does give you the pattern without buying the yarn. Go with the standard size and if needed do one round less on the cuffs to shorten the arm span. 🥰
Would you be kind enough to share the sizing. Been 20 min looking at her page full of pop ups and I can find it.
Im 5'2 and 231 would standard size fit me? And can you add buttons to this? Also can you use worsted weight yarn? @lifeandyarn

You can try turning up your screen brightness to see the contrast more, I hope that helps.
