- Habib Jalib (1928 March 12, 1993) was one of the renowned Pakistani Urdu poet of 20th century.
Jalibs poetry reflected his vision and approach to life. He never deviated from his chosen path. His love for humankind, his sympathy for the underdog and his passion for the fellow-beings were reflected in his verses. What is quite significant and somewhat rare in a poet who is also charged with political ideology is his capacity to suppress his anger against the injustices and tyrannies that he witnesses in life.

he wrote this poetry against General Zia-ul-Haq's dictatorship he used his name openly in his poetry "Zulmat ko zia sar sar ko saba" zia means light, Great revolutionary poet Habib Jalib
Zia-ul-Haq was not his only target. He wrote poetry against Ayub Khan and Z. A. Bhutto as well. He was mostly persecuted by the Bhutto regime.
If only we still had someone like him instead of all the Ass-kissers.

Still remember what a time was that to watch it secretly even we were told by elders not to tell any one of watching this How Zia 's Martial Law suppressed peoples of that age Jalab was the most powerful voice of the masses at that time

In my child I used to think Zia was a hero but after watching "Charlie Wilson's War" my opinion changed. Most of the military dictators just changed the laws to extend their own reign. They were greedy.

Nopes..you don't know the story then..when Shah of Iran visited Pakistan.General Yahyha arranged a dance performance by a famous actress..she refused to come and instead tried unsuccessfully to kill her self.Jalib along with her future husband visited her in the hospital and then wrote a poem

Pahli bat ki koi bhi inqalabi shayar ,koi bhi jan kavi ,peoples poet kisi ak mulk ka nahi ho sakta , inki alfaz sharhade ,dayre ,mayaro ko tod kar har jagah pahuchti hai jaise suraj ki kiran . Faiz ahmed faiz aur habib jalib ne kisi desh ke liye nahi likha unhone nainsafiyon ke khilaf likha ,inquality ke khilaf likha ,religious orthidoxity ke khilaf likha jo har desh main ham gun guna sakte hai . Mujhe ak indian hone ke nate habib jalib ko sirf pakistani sarhado tak mahdud kardena namanjoor hai .
