I bought back a longcase clock made by my ggggranduncle George Brain Lewton from Allan. It is now happily ensconsed with my nephew Seb Illis and his family. Still keeps perfect time after 180 years! Thank you Allan!
I have two grandfather clocks, both have been in the family for the past 150 years maybe a bit less. I have just managed to get the older one running again by giving it an oil, and 'touch wood' it has been running for the last 2 hours! it hasn't run more than about 20 mins over the past 5 years or so lol. I am based in Bristol, do you do restoration work? I also have a master clock that my grandfather built back in the early 60's it you to run some of the other electric wall clocks they had in their house. Would you do or know of anyone who could repair that?
@@MattKaye No,not necessarily. If the crutch is slightly distorted say from unpacking . Also if the clock is not level that too can put it out of beat. For anyone who is not conversant with pendulum clocks out of beat can be a complete mystery to them. I have collected clocks for many years and if you move them around it is quite normal at times to have to reset the beat.
I bought a longcase clock from Allen 10 years ago and he is true to his word. A very good experience and a pleasure to deal with.

Then it will need a service or restoration. All these clocks are fully restored and guaranteed for life.

Just toss that winding key onto the floor and have it bounce back up onto the 200 year old painted face. That's OK. No worries, it's old anyway. Geez.
If any damage occurs they get fixed. We have plenty of money to spend on restoring old clocks.
