NEW for 2023! I have recently launched my third guinea pig sewing pattern project! Find the brand new tutorial video here: th-cam.com/video/Xbaq_VDCHvg/w-d-xo.html
YOU MADE THESE!! 😮 I’m impressed girl you sure know how to do everything for your little piggies! I sure have learned a lot from your channel. You’re so precious and such a darling. Thank you for sharing God bless.🐾🐾💯
I made my own template as best I could watching this and took it on. I had no polyester fill or a sewing machine so with folding laundry basket wires for stability and 5 days of hand stitching all 19 pieces together and made this amazing snuggly hut. When she says "NOT A HAND SEWING PROJECT" I was like challenge excepted. Trust me it's not a hand sewing project lol. Love the project it looks amazing and I'm never doing this again lmao. But seriously so cute and happy I made it
@@SqueakDreams I have my own Guinea pigs and they are on my TH-cam channel they are called Fluffie and Toffie and you inspired me to have own piggies!! 😁
Yay! I have been stalking your uploads waiting for this video since you mentioned it was coming. We just got 2 Sheba Piggies and they each need a hidey hut to keep them cosy in the Australian winter! Your instructions are brilliant and your sewing always looks so professional. Love the waterproof pad idea. We have all the materials & can’t wait to get started.
Fantastic! I'm relieved and glad you didn't have too long a wait! 😂 Hope it all goes well for you and don't hesitate to drop me a message on Etsy if you need any help 😊
I purchased your pattern and made two of these. My two girls love the one I made for them! They were inside almost as soon as I placed it into their cage. The second one is on its way to my sister for her little piggie. Thank you for creating such a great easy pattern.
Omg there were 2 things I wasn't sure about how to do them the best way and now I finally know! Very nice video and you always make the best fabric combos! Really cool that you make these videos 🥰
I already told you, how much I love your videos. Mainly for the good blending of the important educational stuff and the fun stuff. I always laugh, when you let your Piggies "talk". Please do me one favour.Give Lyra a big, sweet kiss for me, for being such a cute and calm granny. Lots of appreciations from Germany.
😍 so lucky to find your youtube video for DIY beddings! If you could make tutorial for a cube that would be great too! 🥰 Anyway thank you for the tutorials that you have posted so far
I just bought the make your own hidey on your Etsy! Can't wait to try to sew this! Also, can you show how to make a tunnel? Or can try selling a tunnel sewing pattern? I'm still fairly new to having my piggies and want to learn to make everything for them!! 💜
this is why i love bendable wire some hot glue to avoid booboos and sew and fill I just feel like side panels for Texas hot don't need stuffing so a nice pillow stuffing at the bottom is perfect
I’m only a beginner sewer and I managed to pull this off but there was a lot of pricking of fingers with pins and bad words said. 🙈 (Even the dog left the room at one stage). It basically came together exactly as it should but there were a few places I had not caught the fabric properly and will have to hand sew these into place. I am confident the next one I make will be better.
Hii! I was curious what kind of needle you used for this project (if you know it), thanks so much for everything you do, I (& my piggie) appreciate it a lot! ❤❤
I made my first one today using your pattern ❤ it doesn't look as good as yours but piggies are loving it. I have 2 females 10 week old Munchkin and 16 week old Bingo, newly bonded. I have always had Guinea pigs in my life but after my last set died of old age and me having a baby around we waited a few years to replace them. I used to watch your videos years ago so happy you are still going. Do you think a thin foam would work on your patterns? As my small machine keeps catching on the batting...
How do you keep your piggies from squishing it down? I made a couple of them and they turned out great. Only problem is my piggies step all over them. Any ideas?
Hi 😄 I wonder where you buy your polyester-wadding? I dont think they sell it everywhere. I use a smaller type and have to use several layers. It doesnt look as puffy as yours. Cecilie - Oslo - Norway
Adorable!!! I’m going to make one for my piggie and probably a few for my hedgies as well. They love little house too!! What do you use for the waterproof layer? Thanks. Take care ❤️
Hi I love your youtube posts and recommend them to new piggy owners. What size is this made up as I have large boys and they struggle in normal beds 😆. Thanks xx
I love it! I'm going to go buy the pattern now- your other one, I attempted by eye, and um, well, yeah, I'm buying this pattern so that should tell u how it turned out xD Thank yooooou! xxx Edit: Ooh, can I ask btw, where do you get that adorable fabric from?
Omg. I have 1 guinea pig( a rescue we are looking for a companion) and he pees everywhere. I made these huts and I have to wash them constantly because he moves the pads I put in them and just saturates the hut with pee. How often do you wash your huts?. I almost have to have 3 or 4 sets of floor pads to swap out every other day cause he's just so messy. Am I supposed to just let him be a little messy? I feel like I'm always cleaning his area. I do have a 2x4 c&c cage setup.
Hi we have guineapigs and we have learnt a lot more by your videos can you make a video of how to make hand made with no sewing machine guineapig hideouts and what vitamins to buy for our piggies. Hi Pedro Lyra Roxy Sarah and phoebe
Hi Sarah! I have a quick question for you. So I’m going to get piggies this summer and was wondering how I can change my daily routine to fit my school schedule and when school sports come around and how to work out how to do all of it and still give my piggies all the love and attention they need. (PS. My name is Emily I just use my moms account) THANK YOU! ❤️❤️
Hey! I recommend getting a routine in place (since piggies like routines) maby if you have time at 4:00 pm everyday (idk what time ur free) change their cage or give them veggies at that time (if you miss a day or two and do it at 5:00 for example it’s ok!
Great advice already - I just recommend splitting the main tasks up into some before school and some straight away (plus topping up hay each time and later in the evening too). For taming definitely interact with them when you are doing chores and stay with them each feeding time to hand feed and bond with them. Try do laptime and/or floortime at least every other day when they are ready (when they are not as scared if they are very timid in the beginning). Best of luck! 😊🌻
My Guinea pigs eat anything fabric (I first discovered this when a piece of clothing fell into the cage) is there anything I can do about this? Will it be dangerous if I start adding stuff like this to their cage? Can I train them to not do it? I’m just afraid they’ll either destroy it or worse choke on it
Hello! I am sorry for asking but because of you I want to adopt my own Guinea pig, I’ve done my research and there’s just one thing I can’t seem to look up. It’s “is it ok to have a sound machine on in your Guinea pig’s room?” See I live in a very tiny house and my brother can have a reputation of… annoying-the animals. So I just wanna know if it’s ok. I just want to keep my baby piggies in my bedroom safe from my brother. If you know the answer please reply. xxx Love from Durham Nc
ive been looking for a tutorial like this for months. I didnt realise how much materials and effort goes into making them. If i was to make this how would i figure out how big to make the base and the height and width of the sides. Do they correlate, Thankyou for doing this. xx
@@blairw1695 i would buy the pattern if i could spare the money but just bought yards and yards of fleece to make more liners. £12.50 for just the pattern is a bit expensive for me at the moment. I do appreciate what she is doing though.
I have a real issue with my sewing machine foot getting caught and snagged up in the batting :( any tips please? This looks great, I'll definitely give it a go!
Ah I feel your pain! This can happen, especially if the batting is quite snaggy and rough. You can get some that is a lot more smooth (or some which has a rougher side and a smoother side in which case you can use the smoother side facing up), usually it is more smooth the thicker (the higher the oz number) it is too. It is also a case of feeding it through the machine more carefully too, I usually have my fingers quite close to the foot, pushing any fluffy material through as I go. I hope this helps!
Hi Sarah, I'm new to using fleece for my piggies, I'm having real difficulty getting it to wick. I haven't used fabric conditioner or any harsh chemicals in my detergent. I've even tried viniger. Please can you advise? Your fleece items look amazing and so soft. I really want my piggies to have that comfort in thier cage.
Hi Jennie, ah no, the fleece you have must have a very resilient coating - I haven't heard of a fleece not wicking after multiple washes! If you're in the US I think Joanns fleece is popular? Or here in the UK I order from fabric-online 😊
all my fleece is a bugger to wick. I just keep washing it. The higher the water temp the better. Ive nearly give up with some and then they have finally wicked. It always has me amazed how some only have to wash in 2-3 times, im at least 5 lol..
@@SqueakDreams Thanks Sarah I'm in the UK . I got my fleace from B@M and have been ordering pee pads ready made from various etsy sellers. I'll keep going with it. 😅 By the way I am smitten by Pedro ❤ and I also have a piggy called Lyra.
@@jennielittlewood4108 i was worried to because i was only washing them on 40. Ive washed the fleece on 90 and ive not noticed much shrinkage. I wick the fleece before measuring and cutting for the liners. Ive used B&M fleece many times.
Do you think these would still hold their shape well enough if I added a second opening side? I've got a very skittish boy who seems to prefer having multiple exits in his hides.
It could work but it would need to be put together in a different way, because I think you can only have one entrance if you want no exposed seams (the hut turns fully inside out, which wouldn't work with two entrances). If you sewed it together with exposed seams on the inside it would work ☺️
