    *A quiet **Generater.Systems** , love the dual fuel capabilities, camper is 50 amp but the adapter helps and found it still handles the load. Haven't taken a camping trip yet, that's in a couple of weeks. Will see how well it does over a long weekend.*

    I live in a story and a half, so our central air does not cool the upstairs. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxxsUnXhGsSJLim_XnMHyQK0u3XVaW-CGn I ordered two of these units because our upstairs is so long with tandem rooms. I just got these three days ago and hooked them up today. These are so much easier than trying to insert window air and needing a frame for them. The Black and Decker are made really nice (actually better quality than I had expected) , they were easy to install. I only had to cut a few inches off the end of window insertion. They are not as quiet as central air , but they cooled down the room really fast and I am very happy with them. The only downfall I would say , is they will require a little more space. Our rooms are quite large, so it was no problem. I would recommend these units to anyone.

    Great video!
    We bought a 3500w Predator generator from Harbor Freight after deciding to boondock at my in-laws. This has been a great purchase. Plenty of juice for AC, microwave, and griddle. Quiet, electric start, eco-mode. Picked it up for $679!

    Hey Robert I just want to say thank you so very much for taking the time with this given life and traveling around this God made world I really enjoy watching your videos cuz I'm able to see things that I probably wouldn't be able to see with the remainder years of my life I just now turned 50 years old September 23rd this year and every since I found you on TH-cam I watch you more than anything anyways that's pretty much what I want to say thank you so very much and have a very delightful day:-)

    Outstanding video, Robert! Many thanks for your support and for that of your viewers and subscribers, who will now be supporting you a little bit too via the discount coupon code! One other point I would like to mention is that the EasyStart will allow the A/C to start and run while the generator's economy or efficiency mode is turned ON! This is a very important benefit since, as you clearly showed, the engine does throttle back further with efficiency mode turned on, when the generator load reduces. Therefore, during the night when the compressor cycles off as the thermostat reaches set point, you'll save gasoline because the generator will run slower when the load doesn't require high throttle.

    • @TravelingRobert
      @TravelingRobert  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. Yes, the generator will throttle down significantly with less load.

    Impressive video- I will be checking out his other ones. Clear down to earth explanation- his accent even made it somehow more interesting to listen to. Like his links a lot, plus even a clear description of what type of trailer/tow vehicle he uses. That Minnie Winnie looks like a compact rig. Thanks.

    Great video Robert! I’m also a micro-air easy start customer. I LOVE mine. I too use a small generator to run my AC here in Florida. But what I love most of all is hooking up at home with a simple 20amp circuit when loading up for trips! You’re right, It’s hot in Florida!

    I installed mine on my15k with heat pump and now I can use it with my solar which I have 550 watts of panel but I have 750 amps of lifepo4 batteries with a 3000 watts inverter. On the a/c it max out at 1150 but on heat mode it warms up my wiring at 1350 plus watts. The best thing I install for my a/c

    Congrat, Traveling Robert. This is one of the most interesting & informative videos I've ever seen on youtube. This video has it all, you show the easy installation of the Easy Start & then you show a comparison of using a small output generator along with a larger output generator. It doesn't get any better than this video.

    That champion is twice the generator compared to the westinghouse, the only benefit is the small size/weight but, that fuel tank will need to be filled every 2hrs or so which will get old real fast. That 8 hrs is at low idle and no load. good vids as always!

    It's been a year since I last watched this video. I'd forgotten about you choosing a smaller, lighter Westinghouse generator.
    KEEP that Minnie Winnie; don't SELL it. Keep what you have; keep that Truma Aqua Go HWH. You have made ALMOST all the right UPGRADE choices.
    At some point in time, consider a Dexter 3,500# rated torsion bar axle as the only additional UPGRADE for the Minnie Winnie you now have.

    Don’t forget you have the RV, the concrete driveway, the house & awning on the house creating a “wall” for the noise to reverb. Nice Robert. I installed a AC Rejuvenator Capacitor into a large AC in the 1990's which is working the same principal as the capacitor you installed and I've recently considered for my older camper. All they do is store up thousands of volts reducing demand from the power source to start the compressor which is very high demand when beginning another cycle.

    Could you test to see which generator is more fuel efficient? I heard that larger generators are more fuel efficient. Smaller generators burn less fuel, but they also produce less power. So could you figure out kwh/gallon between the two?
    Also, how much power do you save if you have your AC running on low vs high? Is there much difference?
    How big is your AC? 10,000 BTU? How much power does it use? 900 watts?

  • @andrewevanoff1192
    @andrewevanoff1192 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    I thought about installing a Microstart board into the 13 kBTU AC on my R-pod but decided to try running without it first. My Honda EU-2000i starts and runs the AC just fine. No problems starting the compressor, even with the economy switch turned on. Once running, it pulls about 1,200 watts with enough capacity left to charge the batteries and to run a few small appliances. One gallon of fuel runs the AC for about 4-5 hours.
    BTW, when camping in the wilderness it's best to place the generator a least 50+ feet away, with the exhaust facing away from the camper. I can barely hear it running. Get a quality, 12 gauge 100ft extension cord for this. I also use a chain with a lock to attach the generator to a tree to keep it from "grab and run" theft.

      Nomadic Newfies, Rufus Earl and Andrew Evanoff, Here is an answer to a review on Micro-Air's website that I believe applies. Basically, temperatures and load affect how an AC unit starts and runs with any generator and talks about starting versus running power and actual steady output.
      Hello Michael. Not all 2000W generators are created equal. Some brands claim to be 2000W, but their output voltage collapses in the 1700W range, and some even declare their overload faults and shutdown their AC output. The older Yamaha EF2000iS models are one of these, thus the reason why Yamaha came out with their newer EF2000iSv2 model to correct the deficiency. A/C units require more power in hotter weather. We have thousands of customers who succeed in 100 degree weather with even 15kBTU A/C units with EasyStart on their 2000W generators. In your case, the combination of your particular brand of generator, the outside temperature, perhaps other trailer auxiliary loads, and perhaps a few other factors that we weren't given the opportunity to troubleshoot with you before you wrote this review, are causing your particular installation not to work under extreme conditions. Never hesitate to call upon us via phone or e-mail, if you need assistance. We sometimes work around the clock for customers on problems like this, and we find the true root cause and then provide clear solutions and/or recommendations. We will gladly still work with you now, if you are willing to give us the opportunity.
      - Micro-Air, Inc.

    • @andrewevanoff1192
      @andrewevanoff1192 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Kevin Carlin,
      Of course, a small inverter type generator is very limited in terms of peak starting current. This is the reason I purchased a Honda. It can handle time limited overload better than many other similar generators. Yes, starting current can vary with ambient temperature, compressor condition, starting or running capacitor condition (if equipped). Also, it's very helpful to install an electronic thermostat programmed to have less start-stop cycles on the compressor. It should allow at least 5 minutes pause before a compressor can be restarted. It's just basic knowledge.
      My AC worked fine with a Honda EU-2000i. It does not mean all RV ACs will. It does make sense to try running the AC off the generator before deciding to spend $300 on a "soft start" unit. Honda can handle it. A similar 2000 series Yamaha can't.

    Robertico...that was great!! Thanks. We're going to look into in since we have the exact same Champion generator. BTW: we finally installed the Truma. QUE DIFFERENCIA!! I was in heaven taking a long shower without any fluctuations in the water temp. Only thing is that La Mesa ordered the wrong system (que milagro right?)....they actually ordered the "upgraded" model that can be "winterized" (like we need that in Florida)....and as a result, the outside panel is much bigger. Does not look good because it actually goes past the bottom wall of the trailer by about an inch. Pero....what can you expect con esa gente. You know what I mean! You've been traveling everywhere lately...I always keeps tabs on you. Me allegro mucho por ti!! Happy trails always my friend!!! Esty

      Hey Esty. Thank you! Glad you were able to get the Truma, and yeah, La Mesa will be la mesa. What can you do. No tienen ganas de trabajar.

    Thanks Robert. I ordered the same generator a few days ago. Aren't you supposed to do a break in period before putting a big load on the generator ?

    I wonder if your air conditioner would have started with the smaller generator, without the soft start installation.

    • @TravelingRobert
      @TravelingRobert  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It would have overloaded it.

    Why not get the front camper generator mount and permanently mount the champion ?

    Fantastic Vidio Robert! I have been trying to to figure out what type of generator to get. I was leaning toward the Champion, but I was also considering the weight of it. The Westinghouse looks like a winner to me and something I can carry. Especially if it works well with the Micro-Air easy start, which I also want to get. Thanks so Much!

    Love the vids i plan on doing some florida vacationing! Could you run your furnace off your smaller generator? Would you have to by another easy start for furnace? Thanks

    Buenas tardes, puede ser una pregunta tonta, pero para que es el cable que conectaste entre el generador westinghouse y la extension que va hacia el trailer?

    Hey Robert...so here's what I'd really like to know: When on efficiency mode....is the genset able to ramp up fast enough to start the compressor of the a/c? The Yamaha inverter generator I'm using will not- you have to turn the eff mode off, and then run time get cut waaaaay down. Also, what did your run time go to under full load?

    Good decision on the DeWalt! I have a 10 year old 18v set and it’s still going. I just installed solar panels this morning (I am making a video on that) and I will be installing an easy start next week. So thank you for the step by step! And are you from Argentina?
