SM finally make use of Sunny's real vocals then using it for forced aegyo.
Sunny's lower register SLAYS me. She looked phenomenal and sounded phenomenal!!! I'm dying inside! I would love it if she had a solo album or something. I love that girl!

*Hyoyeon had no screen time until it was just her part. Yoona had barely any lines :(*
Yoona had 3 words alone and then 2 shared lines with Taeyeon. Yuri got her line in the first verse and then she got the "you think you're real cool? You think you're real cool?!" Adlib in the second and last chorus. Hyoyeon and sooyoung got the rap and they both got a shared line in the chorus as well I think
The apples with spikes in it got more screen time tbh Sooyoung had a couple solo shots, and so did Yuri and Yoona but Hyo didn't. Line wise YoonYul were shafted but screen time wise Hyo was :( it makes me really sad because she's my bias and after CMIYC and even Party and Lion Heart she got more lines and screen time so I thought SM was finally heading in the right direction but apparently not. Hyo as the best dancer wasn't even in the middle during the chorus like wth?
+Jake Valentine well Yoona had that solo line in the first and last chorus and shared line with Taeyeon in the second chorus. Yuri also gets a shared line with Taeyeon. Same with hyo and Sooyoung. The ad-libs you think are Yuri are actually Sooyoung.
+cuteoo0oo0oo OMG I AGREE SO MUCH WITH YOU! she's called the main dancer for a reason but like most of the choreography she was either in the back or just behind the others. SM need to learn the meaning of the members position.

Yoona's line's were "ne saenggagil ppun" in the chorus, and "Boy, you ain't cooler than me, nah" also in the chorus. Yoona taking the lower key and Taeyeon singing the higher octave.
but no solo.
Yeah I know, I was looking for it too. I wondered if maybe the lower notes are more comfortable for her to handle, seeing as her voice is deeper than the other girls. This song I definitely think is a higher range, although I'm also not saying that justifies it, for I'm sure I'll never truly know how the arrangment of parts goes, I just hope that they figure out who's suited for each part and etc. But when Party came out I was SO excited when Yoona got a solo in the chorus. :)
Brady Liske She didn't get any solos because her voice is WAY too weak to pull off this song, it's too soft and subtle. This is a bold and very strong song vocally, and she wouldn't be able to live up to the strong vocals laid down by the other girls.
Brady Liske I can also hear Hyoyeon's voice in "Boy you ain't cooler than me, nah" in a lower key in the second chorus. Hopefully in the live we'll get more Yoona screen time when Yoona is in the middle for the first part of the chorus.
Seems like the adlibs in chorus "You think you're real cool~" is also Yoona's part.

Like, no matter how less interested or emotionless you look in your reaction videos, every reaction video of You Think I saw had somebody moving their facial expression and looking at least a little shocked. The crazier reactions would probably be like yours Dylan or just massive jaw drops and screaming :D

Yoona sings background twice for the "cooler than me" part. Those are her parts. Same with Hyoyeon and Soo. If you listen carefully you can hear them.
bendehoyos18 that little line still doesn't sound necessarily like her, they sound like the whole group still. i think you might just be seeing her lipsyncing that in the video and have a placebo effect. even if they were Yoona, that's not sufficient for a member's entire parts, but i'm 99% sure they were the entire group still and Yoona got no lines.
+14fanofanime actually you aren't right when it comes to this. Search you think acapella and you can clearly hear Yoona sing her lines, along with Hyo & Soo. Like I said.
i looked up the acapella and if anything it proves even further that it's Taeyeon singing adlib of it over group vocals, it's not Yoona's line at all. she might sing in it but it's not just her, so it's not her line

Her voice in the chorus sounds like bass because of a lot of adlib when yoona was singing. At the end of the song we can heard her voice too. Just don't listen the loud part. Just listen the other part. It's definitely her voice

I keep seeing reactions where NO ONE pays attention to Sunny despite her new powerful voice, so it's great to see you paid attention to her. I personally think SM let her drop her cutesy singing as Jessica's gone and they were down a singer. So now we're getting Sunny's true vocal talent.
Sunny has always been this good but they made her sing with that cutesy voice in songs like igab and party.She was amazing.

I don't get your surprise Sunny always had a good voice except in Genie where they gave her a part that's too low for her. And I've seen some videos from when she was in a musica and her voice was very impressive.
Personally, I think this is one of their most qualified songs. I mean, they have so many great songs of course, but the vocal quality in here is just amazing.
And Sunny finally got what she deserved. Since I heard her cover of 4Men song "I Can't" a very long time ago, I always wonder why she never gets to really sing in their song. I mean, yeah she sings, but usually in aegyo voice, but here she nailed it.

A lot of people didn't like how taetiseo got most of the parts. I think that because they are the vocalists it wasn't a bad thing
it was a powerful song so the vocalist would have to play a big part in it. I DO wish Hyo got more screen time and Yoona getting more than just short lines other than the chorus.

Yuri's always overlooked. People care about Yoona not getting enough lines, but Yuri didn't get many lines either if any.
missmississippi16990 I think people were outrage by the fact that Yoona didn't get any SOLO lines whereas all members got at least 1. Giving chorus lines to Yoona while Tiffany and Taeyeon is overlapping her is not enough since when its going to be performed live, the camera focus would be on the group.
Ok, fair, but in PARTY Poona got like close to twice the amount of lines Yuri got. They had about the same in Lion Heart. I was just pointing out that people say that Sooyoung and Hyoyeon didn't get enough parts or whatever, but Yuri had 1 line and it was at the very start. She had the 2nd fewest lines after Poona, yet people (not just Dylan but other reactions I've seen too) only really talk about Sooyoung, Hyoyeon and Poona not getting enough parts and overlooking Yuri. It just makes me sad :(
missmississippi16990 Yuri got like 3:30+ mins of lines in the whole album, Soo & Hyo got 2:57+, while Yoona got 2:30 only.
But mark my words, when it comes to the lives, Yoona will get more screen time. Honestly though I do think she needs more lines, all 4do. I'm not saying people shouldn't be annoyed that she doesn't get enough lines, just that we should be annoyed for all 4 of them, Sooyoung, Hyoyeon, Yoona and Yuri. Cause their the dancers and no matter how you look at it even though Yuri gets the most out of the 4 all 4 are very far behind the vocalists.

+riffgroove Yoona could have done the lower parts of the song or did the rap with Sooyoung and Hyoyeon. Sunny was so good though, reminds me of their song, Say Yes in their The Boys album.

If you watch their live performances Yoona sings the chorus by herself :) Sunny did really shine in this song, her voice got much deeper and powerful! So did Seobaby > < I really liked Hyoyeon's rap too!

Theres a reason they produced both lion heart and you think. My theory is that theyre giving us a taste of what soshi is when they sound strong ('you think' concept) and the more catchy soshi type ('lion heart' concept). The reason why yoona probably didnt get a lot of lines on you think is because she has a light voice while the main power vocal house (taetiseo) has a stronger vibe. Sunny's voice popped out in the you think concept because she has a natural solid voice which added more to the concept. Hyoyeon does have a strong voice but im not sure if she could control it, but they did great by giving her the rap part because she slayed that role. It sucks that yoona didnt get any parts but hey she is the visual for a reason.

For me, I understand why they would give more parts to Taeyeon/Seohyun/Tiffany/Sunny because they are the vocalists; but I wish they would've at least given Hyoyeon and Yuri more screentime during the chorus, I saw Tiffany show up a lot during the shots of the chorus when they could have given it to the members with less screen time and less parts. Just my opinion though.
I saw so many people on tumblr, before I even saw the MV, talking about how good Sunny's voice sounded, and I totally agree. Whatever she did, I hope she keeps doing it. And the whole time I watched the vid I was screaming "YES THIS IS WHAT I'M HERE FOR" and Seohyun's split just like...I was so taken aback. I hope GG continues in the You Think vein for a while because honestly, this is the GG that I really, really, really like.
Amanda Lee Sunny didn't really do anything but stop using the aegyo voice SM has been forcing her to use since 2009. If you listen to their debuted track you can heard the powerful vocals bit that all changed in 2008 leading up to Gee. The Aegyo Queen was in full bloom people loved it so SM made her stick to it even in her singing. Listen to any of her solos & you heard that she always had her powerful voice. When she does her rapping you can also hear it. Sunny has the most developed head voice in all Snsd & the only one of the 9 with the suit to style/versatile vocal technique.

This was more the GG formula. Yoona was the visual along with Yuri. Hyo and SY were featured in the rap, and TTS+S were on the vocals. And the vocals in this did NOT lend themselves to even distribution. They really needed to use their strong vocals on this one and they did.
But with Sunny? Oh hells yes! and Seohyun was KILLING IT in the upper register.
I actually think that Sunny is trying to explore more with her vocal skills I mean, look at that!! She sang with an attitude, with a more mature sounding voice. I know it's a normal thing but I didn't see that during The Boys era. Damn. I love this concept sooo much.

Thanks for your reaction video - rly enjoyed it as usual. I agree Yoona didn't get near enough lyric time. Yoona is an absolute goddess and my bias so I can never get enough of her. As another poster said the vocals were mostly belted and Yoona's voice is perhaps a little soft for that.... but with training and confidence she surely could do it.
the verses and the bridge were meant for the main singers.
the choruses are meant for the dancers. the main singers are just back up vocals for the dancers in the chorus. they sing the high parts for chorus. then hyo and soo rapped.
and yes, sunny sounded great. seohyun's splits saved the world. haha

Probably late to the party but Yoona sings the first half of the first and last chorus and sings boy you aint cooler than me with Taeyeon a couple of times. Reason why she didnt get alot of lines was because she was away filming a drama at the time, notice she doesnt get alot in Lion Heart too
