It looks like the tactic I used a FM21 save in Beasain to break Basque Country regional competition points record but perfected to a greater level as well. Apparently I was onto something to drag a projected 8th place team to 1st but too new at the game to make it run that well.
I've been using the #2 tactic in my Wycombe save. It got me back to back promotions from League One. My right back, Jason McCarthy, turned into prime Cafu with 6 goals and 19 assists in The Championship and currently has a 7.7 av rating after 10 games in the prem.
I understand that you have ties to FM-base and they do do a lot of great stuff, but in terms of tactic creation and testing FM-arena is still clearly better. Even just the increased sample size of games played - 160 on FM-base vs. 912 for the top tactics on FM-arena - is going to make a huge difference in the quality and reliability of the results, not even mentioning the testing methods. For tactics I can only recommend FM-arena. Beyond that FM-base has a lot of other great stuff though :)
Yeah the unbeaten tactic on fm Arena had a 4.7 rating while Zaz had a 5.4 so zaz’s it’s way better the rng on fm base is too high they don’t test enough.
The overlap on the final tactic is pretty clever. The inverted wing backs only go inside when there is space so when you suffocate a team into their own final 3rd the overlap kicks in to give you another option in attack, which is good if a team is defending in numbers
There seems to be a misunderstanding about IWBs. While they do cut in centrally (much like an IW would) when they have the ball you will still often see them make overlapping runs, receive the ball and THEN cut in.
I know obviously it would take more time to create but would love to have seen some match engine analysis on these tactics. Would've been a really interesting video with actual match engine breakdowns.
Feel the creative formations weren't tested - such as 2323, 3232, 4150 (no attackers by Omega) - when players have full tactical knowledge they always completely over perform, it's just all about getting them used to it with your training program
I play 3-2-4-1 with Aluminij in Slovenia. 1st season finished 6th,scored 81 goals. 2nd season we're 8 points clear in first place half way through the season, 37 goals in first 16 games. Gegenpress style, sweeper keeper, wide center backs on support, deep lying playmaker and a mezzala or box to box, 2 AM's, 2 wingers, all on attack, and a false 9
It would be very interesting to a test run that has a human playing the games, not letting the AI sim the same tactic by holidaying for 100 games. I imagine you'll see a drastic difference in those results. Yes, this would be laborious and super player-intensive, but the results would be staggeringly different. My theory would be that all the tactics shown would results in similar win percentages over 100 games played manually. There is a reason that when playing a long term save, you never have the EXACT same tactic for 100 games straight - it starts to get found out. For some reason when games are simmed or holidayed, the AI can't figure it out (maybe because less processing of outcomes in game is done, I don't know?).
I have tried to sim my own tactics, but always get sacked before the end of the season. I'd love to know how they sim tactics. But, I agree, a human running the game with the tactic will have better stats. In my current save I have played about 80 games and have a win rate of 70%. However, I have used slightly different tactics and tweaked them.
@@MrGBags66 this is my point: your win ratio is so high because you’re tweaking the tactics. If you kept the same tactic untweaked for 100 games, I reckon the win ratio would be much lower. For some reason coming up with a game exploiting tactic and holiday would likely give better results than actually playing 100 games with the same tactic untouched.
I like the custom tactics the one 4 minutes in started with haha great video and to be clear he hasn't copied mine he has made alot of changes to my Swansalona to get to that!
I just use RDF FM 22 Man city tactics and then figured how to press effectively with a plan and boy is it a treat. Took a while for man utd to get used to it but in my second season, I played Liverpool and they only had 3 shots, non on target. The pressing really helps and to be frank, there's a whole lot of factors involved. Recently figured that my defenders having low ratings was because of their preferred foot in relation to their position. Just FYI, I'm still playing FM 21
i think overlaps with iwb works when there's a dm because it sends the iwb one of two ways, if you don't come into the midfield because there's too many players there as per your instructions, you're going up the field, overlapping.
I am using the Zaz blue with Liverpool and Trent-Alexander Arnold as DW is mvp of the season. Used it in Barnet for 6 years and got 4 promotions back to back and then finish top 10 twice in PL.. good job to the creator
Overlap with IWB's stops crosses from the deep half spaces and also makes the wingers (anyone venturing out wide) push more towards the goal line as opposed to crossing near the top of the box. You are basically asking your players to put a cross from the best (deepest) position they can instead of balls from the middle third of the pitch which is more often than not a waste anyway. At least thats my observation.
I am a big fan of the DM Roaming Playmaker. I am using that in my A. Getxo save. Started in Spanish 4th division. Earning promotions my first 3 seasons. Now I am in La Liga in 8th place with 10 wins 8 losses and no draws. When I was predicted 20th in the league and my payroll is like $22 million less than the next closes team
Using 4-2-2-2 or it’s also called 4-2-4 used a template and changed around roles and instructions. Ap and dlp in midfield, 2 iw , a poacher and advanced forward up front. Won premier league with man utd in first 2 seasons, doesn’t seem to do as well in latter stages of champions league. I wanted to try do something different as I’ve basically being created 4-2-3-1 tactics for the past ten years lol, I fancied a change
11:39 can't argue with the results but does Prevent Short GK Distribution make sense when you got Much Higher/Higher lines? The last thing you want is GK kicking the ball over your squad to some lurking striker?
For me it's the typical 4-2-3-1 gegenpress. I used Dortmund and I've won 2 UCL (out of 3 finals), 3 bundesliga, 2 German cups and a few Super cups in my first 3 season. It almost felt too easy though I'm using more or less the initial squad
Am I the only one who is not able to use a 4-2-3-1 since three years? In FM19 I managed Lazio, this tactic was absolutely amazing and I won some thropies. From FM20 on, every time I tried to use it, it turned out to be a complete disaster. Too many goals conceded, no chances created. It's just frustrating, I tried out a lot of different instructions and positions, it just doesn't work.
Best tactic is : 4-3-3 (4-5-1) with a Defensive Mid , a Mezzala and a playmaker, a quick Advanced for and a Ball playing def. Try a custom gegenpressing. Your DM will be the most useful and boring player in the squad , he should be an excellent defender with good passing abilities.
I've had good luck with 424. Mine is a little more basic in roles because I'm on a journeyman and am still only a weaker newly promoted French Ligue 2 side. But last season my basic counter 424 won the Romanian 2nd division unbeaten. It also won Brackley Vanarama North and FA trophy, and got Trebisov (who'd just been promoted to the 2nd tier when I took over) promoted to the top tier in Slovakia. Side note. How after all this success in different countries, learning several languages, is my manager still at adaptability 4?
I also run a 4-2-4 but I have 2 pressing forwards and 2 attacking wingers while I keep my inverted wingbacks on support. The midfield has a bbm and an advanced playmaker. In my lower league save right now (Spanish) I've averaged over 3 goals a game in 2 back to back promotion years.
Thank you Zealand for showing me this tactic which I will definitely ignore and be creative and will definitely not use it like for like on my own save
That zaz tactic at number 2 is awesome, was Milan in my save, poor start to season in the league, 8th in November and 14 points back, put this tactic in and ending up winning the league from that bad start along with the cup and Europa League treble
I've used 4-2-4 before but not because I was tactically brilliant, too many attacking players and barley any midfielders. Worked a fair amount. Currently using 4-1-2-1-2 small diamond
I really like your videos but I have a question. I am trying to make my own channel and the first two weeks were fine but now I can't seem to upload anymore because the processing freezes on 99% It's really fustrating me now. Have you had this glitch before and if so how do you solve it?

I tried back 5 without success so far. Also interesting to note: Tuchel seemed to struggle so much in fm 22. In all my 3 saves in premier league, he always sacked in the middle of the forst season
3 cb formation are just not good enough to break the match engine. You need as much players as possible to break into opponents final third to create overloads.
Im using 442 narrow diamond 2 AF 1 AM on attack BBM CM on attack BWM defensive midfielder 2BPD on defense and WB on support and in fiorentina inter and vojovodina save brought me many trophies even in inter save i won CL and Serie A in first seson fm 23 with Vojvodina i had 1 loss in 8-9 games vs Partizan Zvezda or Cukaricki even played final in serbian cup and unluckily lost 3-2 after 2-0 lead and i brought fiorentina in FM 21 from mid table team for 3 seson wiining back to back titles and 3 italian cups too dismentling even eveyone in CL except liverpool
I like there is a tactic tester as a lot of the time tactics are uploaded that work because f the sheer quality the team has not because the tactic is good and will work for other teams.
Basic question - Does it run a series of 160 games or does it run 1 game 160 times? The reason I'm asking is because they all have "your players are all dead" intensity.
At 12:00 you say it conceded the least amount of goals in the whole competition but that’s not true. Literally if you look at number 3 it concedes less goals
10:39 I never knew that I've been using it on my international save on FM 22 Mobile for 2 months already. Sample size is small since NZ doesn't play enough games in a calendar year. The only difference is that I invert the wingers and not the fullbacks.
@@kwameopoku3576 Too many missing roles made things tricky, and the language search in Scouting is irrelevant in the game. You also can't find managers in staff search to edit other teams.
Fun to see that the nr1 tactic is a slightly updated tactic to the one I'm using (no, didn't make it. :p). It's a beast if you can find some decent players for the IWB spot, which in my games is the biggest struggle. :p
The 4-1-5 tactic has me top of the danish league with 73 goals in 22 games. 1 loss all season all comps (I’m in the conference league) and I’m loving it
I'd feel more dirty using a tactic made by someone else I'd rather than giving Newcastle another 200mill extra via the editor 😆 Nice to see a 4-2-4 at the top something I use just not as many instructions
Help me chat, all as one now. “Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Zealand, happy birthday to you … and many moooorrrree!” 🎁🎉💞👏🏻
This 4-2-4 system is pretty much a cheat. I actually have no idea why it's so effective. From what I can see, the IWBs step in DM positions creating a huge overload in midfield. The wingers work very hard as you would expect. What I didn't expect is how hard the BPDs have to work. I consistently have to rotate. I'm not even that deep in the season; so could become unstuck later on in the season if my players get too tired. This is what modern squads are for right?
This conclusion that these are the best tactics assumes that the game simulates matches the same way they play the matches. Is that really true? Naturally, the ai won't make the same in-game decisions that you will, so I wonder how valuable the testing really is. I also wonder if the tests are redone, after each patch.... The reason I'm curious about it is that ,in my SV Horn save (austria), I ran a 424 all the way to promotion. It took me 2 years to get promoted. My first season in the top flight saw me squeak out a spot in Europa Conf League, where AZ immediately blew me out of the water. The next season, I was top of the Table, after 12 games. 3 points above Salsburg. Then something changed. I blamed it on the patch, but Idk... I've never scored much on corners; at least not to the degree that all the inside post FM'ers seem to do. I thought maybe they over-nerfed crosses, which I did score a lot of with the 424. After the update , I went on a seven game slide. I went from the least conceded goals, to to getting blown out by 3 or four a match. I was expected to get relegated, so my job wasn't in jeopardy. I changed tactics like a mad fool, which ( predictably) didn't help. i thought about hanging it up, it was so bad, Then Hamburg offered me an interview. And i accepted. Since i was already pissing off the Board with the interview, I looked at the available jobs and applied. Hamburg didn't give me the job. But Atalanta DID. I took it. I run 433 now; I only ran the 424 because, At the start of the save, those were the best players I had. And it worked for 3 1/2 seasons....
Zealand, do u know if u can still get a son in fm22 original pc version not touch/mobile/xbox. And is it still just age 34 or older and then random 1 in 10000? Or am I wasting my time reloading youth intake
i guess players are randomed in pre-intake (when they tell you, is it good intake or not) in march it is just ca/pa randomize but yeah you still need to be 40+ i guess and there is a very small chance
Nobody outside of SI knows the full parameters, although it's definitely 34/35+. I personally think it involves being at a club for X amount of time too
@@acehole7147 cheers mate, in previous versions I have had them in first season being over 34/5 but didn't play fm 20 and in fm21 and fm22 youth intake is a lot different and never got one in fm21 and just wanted to make sure its still a thing so as not keep wasting my time
Watching this video while managing a team with no wingers in the first season of my save with no money. Why you not have Wingers Philadelphia Union? Why no wingers? American Tiers 22 is an incredibly fun database though. And I am using a narrow diamond that is super, super over-performing rn and should give me a good result this season if ALL MY PLAYERS stop getting injured. Seriously. In one week, my four main wing backs all got injured and I had to put 16 year olds on the field. And not the good kind. I have no wonderkids.
Hello hello Mr.Zealander :) Im Toni from Finland and huge fan of FM serie. I and my friends are not playing any of these tactics but completely different way. My personal favourite is 4-2-2-2 Narrow, no wingers cause i think that winger tactics are no where near as good as wingerless tactics. My experiences comes when im playing with my friends and we have 4-5 guy group playing mostly Premier league and every single time i or my friend Sami will win basicly evrything with wingerless tactic and WE WILL WIPE FLOORS against our friends and computer teams who are using winger tactics. I hjave NEVER SEEN u guys testing like 4-2-2-2 narrow tactic?? I will put it here so if u wanna give a try? SK at....CWB at, BPD de, BDP de, CWB at....MEZ at, BBM su....SS at, AP at....AF at, PF at. Mentality attacking!!
I like testing out other people's tactics that aren't a typical formation like a 433 or a 4231. I will definitely try that formation that used defensive wingers and IWB and use TAA and Robertson as my defensive wingers and my "backup" (still PL quality) fullback at IWB
I love how everyone is saying best tactic, tactics master ,god of tactic, and each one I try it's just rubbish and my team actually played the best football on my own tactic , I'm playing CM and FM since the magical CM99/00 a lots of things change but I think FM 22 on Nintendo switch is just broken beyond repair , since I stop using my own tactic with Newcastle in the first season with no signings I was 9th and I saw that as a lost season , I already checked dear lord 4 tactics and I know I know you not supposed to do really anything after preseason but I was like hey I was 9th that's like not great for me let's see what we can do with some signings and maybe a good tactics ,and to be honest I think people just blindly clicking options and saying wow it's a AMEZING tactic soooo good yoooo. I have to start using my own tactics again.
"All things being equal" - Ok, great... but i can't trust thess without knowing what sort of stats that all these equal teams have? Like if you put all your teams as being equal, but with 1s as every attribute, I'm pretty sure your best tactic is going to be a more direct one. I feel like having some understanding of what the equality is, and testing more than one set of attributes etc would make me trust the output of this much more. Also for example maybe in this equality its not even the case of all players given same stats, but all teams given the same set of players with stats fitting their role... and if everyone has equally average sized strikers with average aerial presence, and everyone has defenders with equally good heading and aerial presence... that suddenly means any tactic involving crossing tested on this "equality" would never feature highly. Basically, I appreciate the start of this, but would love to be able to see more details on the actual experimental set up outside the video because without that the test results are largely meaningless.
Can confirm that #1 is definitely the #1 tactic. I’ve gone undefeated 2-3 times in my Fiorentina save on FM22 Mobile. Mobile doesn’t have as much of a deep dive as PC, but there’s enough there to make it close enough. In a weird way, I almost don’t like going undefeated. The players get really grumpy and funky when we don’t lose at least a few games.

Zealand. Can you do a top 10 worst tactics on base?
Basic question - Does it run a series of 160 games or does it run 1 game 160 times? The reason I'm asking is because they all have "your players are all dead" intensity.
Hey Zealand i tried number 1 and its great thank you very much
At 12:00 you say it conceded the least amount of goals in the whole competition but that’s not true. Literally if you look at number 3 it concedes less goals
when is the MLS hybrid save coming out?
10:39 I never knew that I've been using it on my international save on FM 22 Mobile for 2 months already. Sample size is small since NZ doesn't play enough games in a calendar year. The only difference is that I invert the wingers and not the fullbacks.
How u finding the mobile version
@@kwameopoku3576 Too many missing roles made things tricky, and the language search in Scouting is irrelevant in the game. You also can't find managers in staff search to edit other teams.
Fun to see that the nr1 tactic is a slightly updated tactic to the one I'm using (no, didn't make it. :p). It's a beast if you can find some decent players for the IWB spot, which in my games is the biggest struggle. :p
The 4-1-5 tactic has me top of the danish league with 73 goals in 22 games. 1 loss all season all comps (I’m in the conference league) and I’m loving it
i use the 4-2-4 since FM2006 and it's the best tactic ever
Why don't you call them just half wingers instead of mezzala?
Sooo my striker pass recieved in a match is very very low.some time they just have 5 pass received.how do i fix this???
Where can I submit my tactic?
Does anyone know the individual player instructions for the last one?
Can u make a 3412 tactic with DW’s?
This year i struggle with the tactics, and the tested ones doesnt work, any suggestions, for premier league, chelsea or leeds or i dont know
I'm playing on Xbox so I can't download the best tactic.. Can someone let me know if there are specific instructions for each position?
Hello works with last patch ? 22.3 ME ?
How can i submit my tactic?
The best formation + tactic is the default option “vertical tiki-taka” on the mobile version don’t about the rest
Was intensity taken into consideration? those tactics would destroy the players.
Love Lisa tactics :-)
Why isn't the SS not in the center in the 1st tactic
I'd feel more dirty using a tactic made by someone else I'd rather than giving Newcastle another 200mill extra via the editor 😆
Nice to see a 4-2-4 at the top something I use just not as many instructions
Has anyone else found that the template 4231 gegenpress in the tactics gets you ridiculous amounts of goals?
No AFCON predictions ?
Players is way more important than tactic, you can win UCL with preset tactics.
Help me chat, all as one now. “Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Zealand, happy birthday to you … and many moooorrrree!” 🎁🎉💞👏🏻
Dr Benjy tactic going to be #1 here
This 4-2-4 system is pretty much a cheat.
The best tactic saved me my job so woo!
Never clicked so fast
Can somebody tell me quality tactic for underdog 4-4-2
I changed tactics like a mad fool, which ( predictably) didn't help.
i thought about hanging it up, it was so bad,
Then Hamburg offered me an interview.
Or am I wasting my time reloading youth intake
i guess players are randomed in pre-intake (when they tell you, is it good intake or not)
in march it is just ca/pa randomize
but yeah you still need to be 40+ i guess and there is a very small chance
@@grosdoorne i thought it was 34 or older? Can u confirm its 40 +???
Nobody outside of SI knows the full parameters, although it's definitely 34/35+.
I personally think it involves being at a club for X amount of time too
@@acehole7147 cheers mate, in previous versions I have had them in first season being over 34/5 but didn't play fm 20 and in fm21 and fm22 youth intake is a lot different and never got one in fm21 and just wanted to make sure its still a thing so as not keep wasting my time
I play a 442 narrow diamond, width mainly from FB.
What about 4-3-3? With 3 CF.
Makes my balanced 4-4-2 seem boring and archaic! But I am playing a park to prem from level 10!
Does defense win anything? My brain thinks keeping your defense sort of back and everyone else attacking would be the way to go..
Thank you wink sounded like something very different
The 4231 would be over-rated if the cam scored too many goals: so I'm not really surprised that a (midfield) diamond is the 2nd best tactic
What this game needs is a Bale (or moreno) wingback in a 3-1-4-1-1 that kicks butt - no I'm not trying to say I could do better
Don’t like using other peoples tactics, takes away the point of being a manager for me personally.
Its just comparing to see what works and what doesn't
@@yellowscarlightningscream8347 you find that out by creating your own tactics anyway.
@@yellowscarlightningscream8347 thats the point of finding your own tactics with the players you have/system the team wants
For me, seeing the #1 tactic actually explained to me why a tactic I had in FM21 worked so well and that I should revisit it in FM22.
I like testing out other people's tactics that aren't a typical formation like a 433 or a 4231.
I will definitely try that formation that used defensive wingers and IWB and use TAA and Robertson as my defensive wingers and my "backup" (still PL quality) fullback at IWB
Should I feel like I'm cheating by using a tactic I didn't create myself?
Yes
Iconic
Damn im playing way to much fm22 after discovering your dorfers career.
I have one on FMT 21 and in the first 10 games I'm currently scoring 3 per game
Am I alone on using 442 narrow
The number 1 tactic is the best of the best.
