My eldest brother collected vinyl. These would have been first releases, as he grew up through the mid sixties, 70's and somewhat early 80's. Avid guitarist, drummer and collector of around 800 vinyl records. Wall to wall.
About two years ago I asked him if he still had them.
"No, I dumped them in a skip when we were clearing out. I stream music now and other stuff I have on CD, they were just taking up space."
I was beyond pissed. All it would have took was an email "Hey, do you want this stuff?"

I had a similar experience in 1998. I had a neighbor with a large collection from the 70's and 80's that I always admired. One day I mentioned the collection and a neighbor told me that our neighbor had dumped it just a day or two before to make room for the new baby. I would have paid her for the collection and saved her from having to pay to have it hauled to the dump.

Boston lps are very common, several radio hits by any band creates album sales like crazy, there's really good classic rock bands back then that never had a radio hit. Wishbone Ash is an example, they put out great music especially an LP called "Argus".

Hey Brother, Awesome Collection, Good Job on finding those and getting a great deal. I wanted to make comment, you passed a Motley Crue Album, that was the Too fat For Love LP, Do me a favor and look and see what label it's on. If it's on Leathur Records then you have yourself a 200 plus dollar album. That was the original label they were on before signing to Elektra. The Leathur Crue albums are limited press. From the looks of the radio station label, that might be one of the original pressings.

Mike Barooshian Yeah I wish I had that copy. I just ended up buying a newer release on vinyl. I do have a nice original copy of “Some Girls” and a copy of “Goats Head Soup” in great condition I bought at an old record store for a couple bucks back in like 2007. The orinal bill of sale from a local stereo store (Leo’s Stereo, long out of business) was in the sleeve and the original owner bought a couple good titles. I think he paid more than I did for it.

This mirrors my experience. I bought a huge 2500 record collection from an estate sale in Connecticut. I live in Canada and it took me over a year to bring them back, from my friend’s basement. All of the records were European classical music and all of them in pristine condition. The owner had a great system and really cared for his gear. I haven’t had a chance to hear any more than 50 of the records (no matter how pristine they are, I only play them after they have been through the Okki Nokki treatment!)

Hipsters have destroyed records. It used to be something everybody could enjoy, now they have driven the prices of used lp's up so outrageously high because of their bullshit. It's scary what a short time frame they did it in too. I have two mono copies of the door's self titled debut album in excellent condition, I bought one in 2007 for $10 and and the other in 2010 for $8.50. These days you aren't going to find a copy in mono for less than $200. Once record store owners realized that hipsters will pay outrageous prices in order to turn record collecting from a hobby into an exclusive club, it was coast to coast. Sad state of affairs.

So I shagged right over to take a peek. He had a out 2k albums. I shot him a price blind for $800 and he a accepted. Come to find out, after I paid him, his father was a record executive with Columbia Records and every one of those records were complete catalogues of artists, white label promos. Think Janis Joplin, Miles Davis, Bruce Springsteen, blag, blag, blag. I freaked when I got it home. Come to find out, there was a copy of Springsteen's Born to Run, that was only 6 known to be hand drawn by Springsteen himself and AUTOGRAPHED. I sold that copy for $1,400.00 It was a good day. Most of that stash I still have. It was all damn near mint.

Hey now...I love Phil Collins, Eagles, and Journey's my fave band. I guess that means I'm in a subcategory 😆 🤣

I would be interested in buying the entire collection for my personal enjoyment. I’m 57 yrs old (I’m sure you can see why). I have no idea how to go to a private conversation (as I said, I’m 57 yrs old! 🤓). The ones you showed that you thought were valuable you could keep. There’s enough other in there to hold my interest. Pls advise

What would have made it all worth it would be if you discovered a copy of the pasted over Beatles Butcher cover album. I know there are many with that album in their collection and don't know it's a "Butcher Cover". I keep searching everyone's basement collection for that one.

I have a couple or three thousand albums myself. I am converting the songs to digital...and when I am done, I am interested in selling pretty much everything. My collection is probably 95% country music...from Son of the Pioneers to Willie Nelson to Hank Williams, Jr. Lots of 1960's and 1970's stuff. The conditions range the gamut. Most are in good condition. Most have the original covers and in good condition...but there ARE some which are in poor condition and quite scratchy. I have been able to capture almost every song from every album, though. (I do have a computer program that helps eliminate scratches from the sound)
I request advice from people who know the best avenues of selling old albums like these.

He needed to throw in a microphone to make it complete...two turntables and a microphone. Sorry I couldn’t resist. Do you sell these online? I saw a few I would definitely add to the collection.

That Grateful Dead is Mono. If it's in good shape, you could get a decent amount for it.
