- Bukhara, Uzbekistan, is a city that feels like stepping into a living history book!
We started our day watching the ancient art of Bukhara pilaf-making-a feast for the senses!
The rich aroma, vibrant spices, and hearty taste made it unforgettable. To our surprise the lunch was complimentary for us, again showcasing the amazing hospitality of Uzbek people!
Next, we explored the Central local market, filled with fresh vegetables, juicy fruits, organic honey, traditional bread, creamy ghee, and artisanal cheese-all at pocket-friendly prices.
The highlight was visiting the iconic Ark of Bukhara, a majestic fortress brimming with stories of the past. A short car ride took us to the stunning Kalyan Minaret (the only tower and architecture spared from destruction by the mighty Genghis Khan during his invasions) and the picturesque Chor Minor, each a masterpiece of Uzbek architecture.
To end the day, we enjoyed a magical evening at Joy Chaikhana restaurant. This old and heritage restaurant served as the Caravan Serai during the Silk Route period. The soulful music (the musicians played my favorite song "Bella Ciao" too!), vibrant atmosphere, and delicious food made it an unforgettable experience. Bukhara is a city where every moment feels like a story waiting to be told!
