She is why my church is what it is today in Grosse Ile! Saint James Episcopal Church... Her picture still hangs in the dining room attached to the chapel. ♥️

thank you for this I know I'm posting this years later but this is info I never knew I have lived in Detroit for years and never knew that the truth was right in front of me its almost like they wanna take away our past so we can have no future and give the city this take image when they have no idea how hard things truly are in the city and if more people knew the truth of the past the more people can respect each other and our city so that we can learn and grow as a community

I’m canadian, and we grew up watching her is the minutes and I think a collective generation of children were schooled mid way through the cartoons with videos like these
    www.tvo.org/video/underground-railroad
So we always think Windsor... not Detroit
And so the association and colloquialism among Americans is how friendly Windsor is compared to Detroit
And I’ve always been confused by why Michiganders associate with Dixie
And to be quite honest, i can understand the ...deep seeded prejudice of such an answer
Thanks for helping me have a fuller understanding of history.

Omg this hurts to know that their is not a common knowledge of this history, it hurts but it hurts worse knowing that race issues are still very prevelant against blacks being segregated into poverty and segregation itself TO THIS DAY. I call for all races and creeds to unite finally with equality and NO JUDGEMENT. God bless us humans with the courage to NOT FEAR ONE ANOTHER ANY MORE DAYS

This is why critical race theory is so important along with truth and reconciliation. Children in schools need to know and learn the real truth about this country’s history.
