- Japanese singer, songwriter, and producer Tamio Okuda was born on May 12, 1965, in Hiroshima, Japan, and is one of the nation's most famous musicians.
Having captured the hearts of Japanese fans with his now-legendary rock band, Unicorn, he kicked off his solo career in 1993, and within the following year was topping the charts with his 1994 single, Ai no Tame ni. Tamio's first solo album, '29, also sold millions. Ever since, he's written and produced for many Japanese household-name artists such as Puffy, Kaela Kimura, and collaborated with another rock star, Yosui Inoue. He also has deep ties with musicians in the United States, having recorded and toured with Steve Jordan and Pino Palladino as part of the alternative rock band, The Verbs.
In 2009, Tamio and his Unicorn bandmates reformed to great success, and are still active today. The Tamio Okuda J-45 is based on Tamio's cherished vintage original 1945 J-45 and has a mahogany back and sides paired with a thermally aged red spruce top with hand-scalloped red spruce x-bracing, a rectangular open slot bridge, a mahogany neck with a historic Rounded U-shaped profile, and an Indian rosewood fingerboard with 19 frets, Grover® cream button, strap-style tuners, and the iconic banner headstock logo. A Gibson hardshell case is also included.

I agree with what he said about the thick necks . I played a Slash J 45 with the 58 style neck and the rumble it had was endless !!! This guitar seems like a beast as well . 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Wow! this J-45 sounds superb!
A thick neck profile seems to produce a slightly more robust tone (for lack of a better description).
Personally I've found there is enough of a difference in tone that I can justify 2 of the same guitar with only the neck profiles being the difference.
While my Wife is not happy about these differences that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Love the old J-45s, thank you Gibson and thank you Mr. Okuda.
