Am I the only guy who runs infantry variant rifles all the time? I love my infantry rifles. I especially love my Mosin Nagant, and 1903 Springfield Infantry rifle. (1903 Experimental alternate fire mode) I find myself outsniping people from 150-200 meters away on a regular basis.

yeah, you can get them for like $150-$200. Pisses me of that in the game they don't have the front ring sight like every single one I've seen irl.
The ironsight version of this gun in the game is far easier to get though.
Justin Held That's because the version of the rifle that's in the game is the M1891. The front hooded ring sight didn't come on the Mosin Nagant until the M91/30 variant which wasn't produced until 1930.

Mr. Meeseeks the fact that there are assignments in the game that are literally impossible to complete only proves that the devs are out of touch with the community. Sure, make the assignments tough and lengthy, but don’t make them nigh impossible (headshots on Nivelle Nights when there’s maybe one half-full server active at a time, play 25 rounds of certain game modes on certain maps with no active servers, blowing up tanks with HE crossbow, etc.) When assignments are demoralizing because of how stupid they are, it de-incentivizes working toward them at all.
They want you to spend $10 a class to unlock everything! On top of a $60 game and $50 premium pass.

Dillon C depends on how proficient you are with it. I've killed two deer in less than 3 seconds and the other hunters at the hunting camp said it sounded like a semi auto
There actually is quite a few guns that have different damage values but fire the same cartridge. For the most part in this time period armies tried to only use one cartridge like the chauchet and lebel, lee enfirld and the Lewis etc. but they have to balance it so guns that do different damage but fire the same cartridge

Levelcap said that decent players should be able to get 50 kills with the g98 in one match easily. I main as a medic, I can be on top of the scoreboard pretty easily. But getting 50 kills in one match is tough, especially with just one gun and no nades/sidearms/vehicles.

I guess it also depends on the definition of decent. If you are a negative guy like me decent means "top tier" Stodeh level ;-)! Then comes "alright" and then words you get banned for here in TH-cam ...
I think he said on frontlines? There's plenty of frontline servers with no time limit, allowing you to easily get over 50 kills before the match is done.

It's not the best bolt action, but it's a good looking rifle and it gets the job done. I love mine.
You can’t expect it to be to different from the 1895. It shoots the same ammo from roughly the same barrel length so it’s naturally going to have a similar muzzle velocity, and by that token, sweet spot range.

Am I the only one who thinks the K Bullet is ass? 5 rounds and does max 10 damage or less. It should have at least been a full clip you can load in. I much prefer the incendiary trip wire with flare spot.

Chocolate Rain maybe if your against heavy tanks, but k-bullets are really effective against armour cars and you can usually destroy one with 2 bullets
You can very easily totally disable heavy tanks with K Bullets.
It’s a support round. There would be no use for stuff like the anti tank rifle if the K Bullet could wreck tanks in the same way.
Aussie Jade it has to do with the game and how it's loading textures or something. DICE said something about that a while back, but yeah it can get fairly annoying.
K bullet is still a better gadget than the HE Crossbow. You can do like 3 times the damage with all of your k bullets than the HE grenades from your crossbow.
The level of detail DICE put into each weapon in this game, especially the cool reload animations, is most impressive.

Legendary Warrior I bought it for my 18th birthday a few years ago. I spent hours cleaning the cosmoline and the sweating out the grease from the wooden stock. I loved it. I bought 440 rounds for just $60, that cheap Russian spam can with all the corrosive powder. Two years later, while in college I got a decent paying job and started saving a lot of money (by broke college student standard) so I decided to liquidate part of my growing collection, I got them together and sold them in a bundle. I didn’t need the money, I just liked the idea of having an extra $1000 in my savings account. I ended up giving up like 5 guns two of those have gone up in value by around 250%.
Their price has gone up quite a bit...

Hey Level, I finished the trip wire assignment quickly by playing rush and setting 2 of them up by the mcom and then letting them get the kills that way, it only took three rounds of rush to complete!

Dang even the reload animation is spot on to real life. Always have to lift the front of the last round then push. Love the accuracy.
I love Bf1 same as bf4 or bf3, yeah it has faults but also some woooow aspects like shooting from sniper in monte grapa while planes and airship arrive, sounds,graphic,animations,efects..just wow ;) great vid LvL..Also that "ding" at kill is just cherry on top
On console, it makes sense to you use the infantry variant of a bolt-action rifle, because you get an aim assist when you aim down your sights. This aim assist is non-existent on variants with telescopes. Consider this in your future reviews, Level. :)

If you play the game an have a K/D better than 1.0, aim assist should be automatically disabled for you, period. If I can learn the game without aim assist and so can my best platoon mates, everyone can too.
I was up all night to unlock the Mosin-Nagant Marksman pre-patch. It's now my favorite sniper rifle and the legendary skin looks sweet.
I did it before the patch. Pop a couple times with pistol and bait them into the tripwire, so many idiots. I love this gun, its fairly good. The scope being on the left of the barrel will cause bullets to hit walls on the right side if you dont clear the wall, even though you can scope in and see enemies, your barrel is behind a wall. If you can bang off some head shots with it, you'll love it.

Not the hardest at all, the parabellum mg14 low weight is by far, trying to shoot down 2 planes with an lmg is impossible
I did it in one game. Simply git gud, then you’ll get the MG14 in no time at all
or you can do it the easy way and get a m8 to switch teams and take a plane

Unlock the Suppressive first, it by far way easier with that one
Go unlock the Perino model 1908 first. The gun overheats after firing 65 bullets so technically you could do more than 30 damage to a plane and the slower fire rate means less recoil while shooting on the go.
I am glad that even though there are similar rifles, the "skins" are different. The Russian 1895 and the Mosin Nagant used the same ammunition during the same time period. That is why the stats are so similar. The Mosin Nagant become used because it only had 20-so parts making it easy to manufacture developers weren't "lazy" by making the Mosin Nagant similar to the Russain 1895, they were recreating the tool used during the great war with a sense of historical relevance which, by the way, is what makes this game my favorite of every other shooter.

I kinda love this rifle, don't know why, been usin' some rifles and did quite a lot with the scout class, but this rifle is just my favorite just for the looks(got the Botchkareva grey and golden skin for it)
@Hsj Ndj oh, I stopped playing BF1 at some point back in 2018... Got 10 stars tho, that was a really great rifle, I used the sawed off version for my secondary weapon as well xD.
I'd just like to add that it's actually really easy to get the tripwire kills if you play on hardcore as it's an oneshot
Mosin_Nagant is like the pride of snipers in real life. It and GW 98 marksman are my favorite sniper guns with different sweet ranges.

I got the mosin in the first week it was released. The strat does require you to camp a little. Go upstairs in a house or building, put trip wire at top of stairs. Wait for people to go up stairs. Shoot them a couple times with a 1911 or MLE and make them chase you. And boom. Bob’s your uncle.

Rob Leonard that's how I did it. I started enjoying the challenge because it feels like trolling to shoot people and lure them into your trap.
How to get the tripwire kills: Run into big groups of enemies and hope to god you place it
an easy way i did the tripwire bomb kills was by playing rush. I unlocked it pre buff so what i did was plant one on the mcom and then shoot a spot flare on top of it. it'll burn off some health and your tripwire will finish them off. Works with offense and defense rush.
I love this rifle. The fact that it's the legendary Mosin-Nagant is enough for me to use it lol. Jokes aside, I really like how it performs.
The trip-wire bomb kills weren't hard to get tbh, they're hard to get when you place them where enemies can easily see them to avoid them. You need to hide them. The best map to do so is Argonne Forest. Place them in the bushes that touch the corners of main paths (around Objective C through where enemies rush to D), it keeps them perfectly hidden and it's likely you'll get a kill.
You can also place them on the stair footsteps in bunkers, do so by leaving some distance from the entrance. Enemies usually rush through there without giving any thought when Objective B comes under attack. So just get creative and don't make the tripwire obvious to see. Place them at different angles leaving some distance from the entry points, so the enemy only finds about them after being blown up lol.
the trench Periscope is the most valuable sniper class equipment that you can use and not for its spotting capabilities that's just kind of a cool unique feature that comes with it

Gewehr 98 Marksman variant is probably my favorite sniper in the game, and I am so fucking aggressive. In Battlefield 4 I used the L115 religiously when matches got intense, and when I say aggressive I mean CLOSE quarters sniping, as well as far far range sniping. Gotta start playing this game again.
Clips hold bullets. Clips do not have a feeding mechanism. Very few guns fire directly from a clip. Clips are mostly used to load non-detachable magazines.
I get that LevelCap is taking a gameplay pov for his review but the reason for similarities between the 1895 and Mosin-Nagant are because they had the same cartridge which is why apart from the optic and reload they have the same stats. DICE does a decently good job of making sure that weapons with the same round do the same amount of damage as long as they are in the same class and slot, with some glaring exceptions of course, but still a nice effort from the devs to be a bit more realistic.
I never use any bolt action rifles with scopes just for the fact that sometimes it’s good to sacrifice a little performance for authenticity.

I know i'm late but if you see my comment i will tell you how i unlocked tripwire bomb in 2,3 rounds...play Domination i found success on Argonne forest,Suez and Sossion.In sossion go to any house,place tripwire and shoot at other enemy players and you should attract them to come to building you are in,on Suez place them between buildings near objectives.On Argonne put them near objectives between plants.Hope I helped you!(Sorry for bad English)
I way prefer the marksmen scope. I am not a sniper that wants to sit at the edge of the map. I prefer medium range if I am going to snipe at all.

There is a really good reason why they are the same, the Russian(Winchester) 1895 and the Mosin-Nagant fire the same round from roughly the same length barrel(7.62x54R, 28 and 29in barrel respective).
So in this case it would be reasonable that they have the same ballistic characteristics.
Infantry SMLE is really cool. In CQ you can quickscope and finish with pistol, but when it comes to long range (for infantry guns, 40-75m) you can just get a one shot kill.
I enjoy putting a trip wire in the fortress gun bunkers on empire's edge, as it sets off all of the artillery shells around the room.

Parniij yes, it does. I did it just yesterday. It's definitely not the fastest way, but it is very entertaining.
One thing that I appllaud dice on is the realistic reload on the mosin. Only people that would notice this are people like me who own it. When you reload the stripper clips dice added the fifirst bullet lift. This is not artsy reload animation try reloading the real rifle by pushing down normally....you can't you have to lift the first round of the clip to be able to push it down. Love dice for this.
Maybe, just maybe the reason the 1895 and the Nagant have such similar stats is because they share or are very similar in many departments and not because the developers “ran out of ideas” or however you may have put it. Both rifles fire the same 7.62x54R cartridge have similar overall lengths, barrel lengths and weights.
I prefer infantry variants with radium sights for fast target acquisition for aggressive medium and even close range snipers. The m98 infantry is a hidden gem now that it has the "straight bolt". It reminds me of the first call of duty campaign. I loved the M89 since that game. The feel of that gun is amazing for me. Use radium sights. I can only use the Martini with radium sights for example.
9:15 this is why if your squadmate is looking in one direction you should always cover his blind spot.
What helped me to unlock is that I had a friend put down a AT mine next to my trip wire and it made a bigger explosion to help me to get the kill.
Surprisingly the infantry is one of the few infantry rifles that are very good. My favourite infantry rifles in order are: 1. SMLE 2.Russian 1895 3.Mosin Nagant 4. Gewehr 98 5. Gewehr 95
Infantery variant are really good at certain maps such as lupkow pass, but yeah in most cases the scoped alternatives are better

All you have to do for Tripwire bomb kills is put both of your tripwire bombs in the same spot so when it's tripped they both explode guaranteeing a kill
It's quite easy to unlock when you bait people with gas grenades and make them come where you've planted the tripwire bomb. Unlocked it in one day after playing alot on Fort de Vaux.
PRO TIP FOR THE TRIP BOMB KILLS: if you know an enemy is near, plant the trip bomb down near a wall, confront the enemy with your pistol, shoot him once and run twards you trip bomb. 9 times out of 10 he will try to chase you and you can lead him right threw the trip bomb and get the kill since he will already be damaged from getting shot once with your pistol. THIS REALLY WORKS!

I got my Tripwire HE kills by playing Operations. I would toss a Gas grenade into a crowded room and sprint in and drop the HE while they are scrambling with their masks. Between the gas damage and the actual blast I would snag a few kills. PLUS the gas conceals the Tripwire. The downside of this strat is that is not very tactic/ KD friendly.
It's actually a lot easier to earn tripwire bomb kills on Domination due to the capture points and more obvious power positions on the map being flooded with more frequent traffic. Great placements include the tower overlooking C where there's only one ladder up in FAO Fortress, either main gate on Monte Grappa leading into A, or C and B's trenches, inside the houses (ground floor) next to the flags on St. Quentin Scar, Amien's C flag is filled with great spots, as well as the surrounding narrow entrance just beyond it. The buildings within C and A flag on Sinai create lots of good opportunities, as do any of the buildings within all of Suez's flags. Ballroom Blitz's flags are all deathtraps anyways, and can get you some kills, as can properly trapping the ladders above the courtyard by placing one trap just a bit too far from the ladder to see, and another one securing the inside of the corner from passerby who might notice the trap. The two should be close enough to detonate simultaneously. The sheds on C and A flag of Giant's shadow can be productive. Argonne Forest's C flag has lots of great entrances to trap, as well as pillars to hide traps behind, the small pockets on A flag can work as well as the tall grass and brush surrounding the flagpole at B flag. Finally Nivelle Nights has the ruins on either side of B flag as well as the dark, tight entrances on and surrounding C flag.
Never forget you can quickly switch to these and place them for infantry who have been tailing you and are closing in for the kill! Never place so the wire is visible from the doorway or entrance you are trapping, always place just a little further inside. If a spot has been being bombarded by grenades all round, chances are you don't want to waste your traps there. Placing one just as you die can work, if you've weakened your opponent. Using them with spotting flares can really help, popping one at a highly contested flag, then trapping the entrance the red dots are lurking near.
Hope this helps, I earned this rifle with relatively little trouble, especially on the tripwire side of things as these tips could get you 3 or 4 tripwire kills a game, relatively simply.
The biggest benefit to not using a scope is avoiding reflection from the scope. You can take out snipers that don't see you by flanking.
For tripwire kills I will try the same what I did for dynamite kills on tdm: place a tripwire in some busy area full of debris and corners (and some enemies), then hang around until somebody comes along nearby, shoot them couple of times to get their health down and attract attention and then just run back to your tripwire. Im still to test this but with dynamite I was struggling before, and then once I tried this I lured 5 enemies in one round on Amiens
So, it worked, just done 5 kills on Amiens yesterday, also in 1 round; another 4 on Grappa, 2 in Ballroom and 2 in Amiens again. No assist counts as kill. One map after another. 2 more kills to go.
The Infantry version was the first I got after getting the DLC. I'd recommend Radium sights, makes it a bit more like the M91/30 version that I happen to own in real life. Overall it's a fun gun to use. I still feel the whole shoot down a plane with an LMG is the hardest challenge of the DLC, but that's mostly because people just like jumping out of planes before they get damaged.

Well I guess I'm one of those 5-1% of the players then...Because after seeing the details in the animations for the Mosin it is the only rifle I use as a scout. Loving it! I don't even care about the rest of the stats, that was enough for me to choose. Also, love the animation when putting in the K-bullet. Similar to the one used during a normal reload with one shot left.
DICE...if you by some miracle read this...Keep up this level of detail! It really matters to some of us! Most players out there are clearly bores that don't mind the manipulation of the bolt every time you switch weapon or non tactical reloads (or crap like that) I guess but some actually care about the details in video games and even put a lot of value in said details.
This gun looks crazy good, might be worth the trip wire HE grind.
You're right in that the Infantry version of the Mosin is "useless", but it's meant for those who enjoy the historically accurate aspect of using a standard issue rifle with iron sights
I like using the infantry variants when I want to support a squad a bit more.
Easy way to get the tripwire kills: Play hardcore tdm and place the tripwire mine in dark doorways that are frequently used. It took me like 5 matches to get the required kills.
I got both nagants and it was a pain in the ass to unlock, so were the federovs, and the parabellums.
The ability of a player to use the 8x vs the 4x scope is HOW you aim. It looks like you drag in from one side after you center the height at medium distance shots, like you would a medic rifle. For a 4x scope, you have to drop in from above or below your target when aiming. Even when you're tracking a target at long range whose running, Gauge the lead distance first, then drop in from above. I play on console though-so I have to deal with the joysticks being only 2 variable speeds. Light press or heavy press.
Historically it makes sense that the sweet spots are the same because the Russian 1895 and the Mosin Nagant were the same caliber and had similar barrel lengths.
They should add the sawed off Mosin-Nagant. It was quite popular in that era. By the way in case you care about pronunciation, it's Moseen-Nagan. Love your videos. Keep at it.
On console, infantry variants mean aim assist. We don't have the benefit of M&K so the only way to play really up close and be competitive with automatic weapons is to have some form of AA. With scoped rifles we don't get AA
The Russians adopted the Russian 1895 because of a shortage of Mosin Nagants. It would make sense that they would adopt a similar rifle
Protip, wait until you have Perimeter Alarm assignment ready to be started before attempting to unlock this gun. One of the requirements of that assignment is...Kill 20 enemies with tripwire HE bombs. You don't want to have to do that crap a second time
It has the same sweetspot as the 1895, because they both use 7.62x54 mm Rimmed ammunition.
Harvest N you can just say "54r" or if you really want to act like you know guns "7.62x54r"
Everything else is redundant to an actual firearm owner.

WTF is up with those headshot assignments. As if the getting 20 headshots with the mp18 optical wasn't bad enough now we have to get 25 headshots with the automatico and the mondragon sniper.
At least PC players will have easier time.
They should make it so that every infantry variant rifle has their sweet spot moved up by 10-20 meters compared to the scoped variants.
Got this before the trip buff. Suicide flank into an enemy building in Conquest. Pop a couple of enemy with your pistol and drop the mine before you die. The Bochkareva skin looks fucken sick.
I'm so unlucky with the tripwire kills. I tried to use the same strategy on Fort de Vaux. I'd charge into room full of enemies and drop the tripwire bomb but it sometimes doesn't explode even though enemies are literally stepping on it, sometimes it explodes but does no damage for some reason or it explodes and damages 4 enemies but no one ever dies to it. So frustrating.

Disappointed with the scout weapons added on this DLC, neither of them seem worthwhile but I guess I can live with it since TSNP gave us the Lebel
Infantry variants immerse me into the game.
Update! It is now even easier to get tripwire kills as a recent patch changed the amount of tripwires you carry from 1 to 2 and if you stack them the explosion from one will set off the other creating quite a lethal blast radius
Just spawn in as an assault, place an anti tank mine, then after you die, spawn as a scout and place the HE tripwire bomb over it, you’re guaranteed a kill. Got my unlock in 2 games doing this method 👍
I got most of my tripwire kills by finding the most clusterfuck-y map I could (Frontlines on Fort de Vaux) and literally just sprinting into the biggest enemy crowd I could find and putting it down. It's messy, but I got several multikills this way.

I have completely given up hope on getting the Marksman variant of this.
No one ever steps on my tripwire bombs. If I try to cheese people with them, they don’t detonate.
One thing is not true about this gun: it is not firing at 56 RPM. I know symthic stats should be 100% accurate but it is just not true. If you play the russian 1895 a lot and swith to this weapon after that, you will realize it IS slower for real. Even the G98, which is officially at just 50 RPM feels more frequent in bullet output, idk why but try it and you will be shure about it. Maybe it is because the nagant rechamber animation feels so wobbly in comparison to the smoother and more even ones like the ones of the 1895 or the g95.
I finally got the tripwire mine kills post patch but it’s still the 75% damage rather than the 80-85% damage promised in the patch & this is for the ps4. Personally I hate marksman, carbine & infantry rifles but that’s just me. But my point is I hope it’s worth the grind! lol
To unlock this mosin nagant, you need 3 headshot kills with SMLE mk lll with the ironsights and you need to kill 20 enemies with Mars Automatic pistol
