In the aftermath of the first Test at Multan, Pakistan made significant changes to their squad for the second and third Tests, dropping several high-profile players -- Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Naseem Shah. Following the defeat, a new selection committee was formed, led by former ICC elite panel umpire Aleem Dar, who introduced fresh faces while sidelining key players struggling with form.
The two teams will meet again at the same venue and at the same pitch for the second Test match, scheduled to begin from Tuesday (October 15).
The hosts have made as many as four changes to their playing XI for the second match of the three-Test series.
Pakistan were rattled in the second innings by the pace of Brydon Carse, Gus Atkinson, and Chris Woakes in Multan. However, despite failing to tackle the pace, the hosts have gone in with three front-line spinners in their playing XI.
Nauman Ali, Sajid Khan, and Zahid Mahmood make their way into the playing XI. Kamran Ghulam replaces Babar Azam at the crucial number 4 position and he will be making his debut for the hosts.
Apart from Babar, the other three to miss out are Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Abrar Ahmed.
England, who are 1-0 up in the series after a record-shattering win in the first Test, have retained the same formation that got them the win.
Skipper Ben Stokes is back after recovering from his hamstring injury which he picked up while playing in The Hundred.
