Synopsis:

I think there needs to be more cheat dramas where the female lead moves on.....seriously.....the cliche of continuously going back to a cheating spouse is becoming too irritating to watch!!
I agree....I actually found one on Netflix. I was waiting for these wives to take back their cheating husband...but they both moved on...and the husbands acted like complete asses because their ex wives refused to take them back.... The drama was called "Love, Marriage and Divorce".

I've seen too many Chinese dramas where the guy cheated (either emotionally or physically) or too hung up on his ex until the female lead leaves him and the lead always takes the guy back at the end by making it seem like it's "true love"
What are these dramas trying to teach women by creating these plots? How to be doormats?

It's classic moral coercion tactics. Especially if they have children together, it's naturally expected to be back together for the sake of the children and shows this saint like forgiveness character. If you don't do so, then you get criticized for being too stubborn, too hateful....etc by public!
Back in the old days, women aren't able to survive without men. So the traditional beliefs still exist to make women feel bad for leaving even if their husbands cheats or abuse!
He lost his chance of being a father when he refused to answer his phone when she was calling him in panic because of labor pains. He doesn't deserve her and their daughter.

This is the best example of the worst husband, where for him his wife has no value, at no time do I love her and why does he want to be with her. The best ending was for her to stay with her daughter alone and someone would arrive who truly loved her and made her happy.

My husband asked for a separation, claiming it was all because of my faults. I fell for it completely, and even went to counseling to try and "fix" myself, and our relationship. I finally found out that he had been having an affair all along, so we started talking about divorcing. Soon after, we found out that he had cancer and was given less than a year to live. After the diagnosis he had an epiphany, he realized that he was the one that caused many problems and said that I had been that best thing to ever happen to him. He asked me to get back together and renew our vows. You know what I said? NO! Karma is a Biotch! Ladies, if your spouse is a cheater, run for the hills and don't look back.

For me the script writers got this so RIGHT. He treated her so badly, until she said I've had enough and divorces him. Meanwhile his Mistress has moved on and he is on his own. Even his mother agrees she didn't treat her DIL well. And now she is standing firm and well not accept him back. I think what is missed in these episodes is the length of time that goes by and she still won't have him back and why should she ? For once the script is correct or the writers are females. Well done it is such a good feeling seeing Asian women standing proud and this series has it all.
You haven’t watched the end then, have you? Because while the scriptwriters may have gotten this clip right, they lost all respect and credibility by having her take his sorry ass back later in the story.

He has been in love with mistress for over 10yrs and wanted to marry her, but his mother was against it. He only married this girl to please his mom, he was still seeing the mistress throughout the marriage and the wife knew about it. The wife was hoping he would give up mistress and when he didn't she left.
I don't like the ending. The wife finally got her life together and was successful with her new life, so why did she take him back knowing that he will go running whenever mistress calls him. This culture, society, family thing cause so much unhappiness and hatred in the world.
He was a grown man who married someone he didn’t love to please his mother?! Yeah-he needs to use his post-divorce time to get himself into therapy. He’s not child. He is responsible for his own choices and actions.

This story must be written by a man. At the end all the hurt of his cold cruelty, the pain of betrayal is all swept under the carpet and he has a happy ending? Surely a male author.
Absolutely. And probably a man with abusive tendencies. Because who else would want a story where the abused person takes back her abuser?
Sadly, this is not an isolated story. There are tens of tens of thousands of us exactly in her situation; facing a coward begging for forgiveness, not understanding, in the least why once trust is gone, it's gone. It's another reason why she shouldn't take him back; his lack of understanding of what he did to her. He was and frankly is, a cheater; dishonest, disrespectful, and disgusting in his berating of her.
And this drama doesn’t even have the decency to really show him working and evolving and becoming a different and better person. He doesn’t deserve her or his daughter. At best they should co-parent with her being the primary parent. He hasn’t really changed-just realized his mistress is crazy.

Okay but here's the thing love isn't eternal and a given: he cheated and put her down many times before. So what if he loves her now? Why should she care? She may have feelings for him but those feelings mean nothing when they were rejected over and over again. At some point even love isn't enough. I don't have a problem with couples getting back together after a split like this. My problem with this particular relationship is that they were never really together. It seems they are always on different pages of their story.... And whatever limited feeling developed between them was not powerful enough to overcome the deep-rooted and extensive personality flaws, especially on the part of the husband.

The character of the husband is he does not have value for his wife .he everytime goes at beck and call of his girlfriend who is much older to him. ZouKai needed to work very hard to fix his own inter-personal relationship problems, mend his wife's broken heart, regain her trust in him, make up himself to be a real husband in her heart. This should be a long way to prove he qualified.

This is the perfect example of a man who finally realized that his pride is the one that destroyed their marriage. The cheating was a cheap expression of it. Plus a mother-in-law who seems to have an issue with babying a man. The wife is such a strong woman who will always prioritize her daughter, even if it takes to go against her husband.

"Cheating spouses" happens in every culture and country. While some may be worse than others, all cultures have this issue because it is more of an "ethical" issue than it is an "ethnic" issue. Holding one's marital vows and marital trust sacred is dependent on both;
1) The actual TRUE LOVE felt by said spouse.
2) The MORAL INTEGRITY of said spouse.

I myself immediately divorced my cheating ex-husband when I found out, and because he had an affair, the court gave me the children and the house and EVERYTHING he had. The "other woman" was someone I knew well, she KNEW he was married to me. She went after him anyway, so I beat the daylight out of her and shaved her hair and eyebrows off. So he left her because that temporarily ruined her looks. I'm mean enough to do that, but not quite evil enough to scar up her face to ruin it for life, because that would send me to jail, and I had 2 sons to raise.

I don’t think he was physically cheating with his ex but he was still cheating all the same, and to be honest he looked miserable with her aswell, he felt guilty towards his ex and she was a drunk psychological mess aswell, this guy has serious psychological issues that need fixing.

I completely agree.. the story was progressing so well she was finding her footing for her daughter for herself she was becoming brave and able to get out of the miserable married life she had. But then she had to again fall for the ML because he hit someone because he was jealous ..she again went to her childish phase and that completely wrecked the story for me. He was trying to win her back but she gave in too easily and childishly.. all the built up of self love and esteem flushed down the toilet 🤪

Simultaneously Gaomi got pregnant, she also proposed divorce to cheat for a dating with her husband. The dating arrangement was for him to see the mistress went for another man. Then the husband thoroughly thought over his marriage. He considered his wife was a tricky gold digger. He started to show her cold shoulder and neglected her in everything. This served a complete change in his attitudes towards his wife.

I don't think they let you see him as a romantic person, with neither his wife or mistress. There were no kisses involved with the women. I think this drama was just soulless, with both male and female leads.
On one hand I do see that she shod have stayed single and made him earn her back slowly over what he put her through. On the other hand sometimes it takes extremes like her leaving with his daughter to make him see how wrong he's been and what his mistakes are. I am not condoning what he did far from it. But everyone must learn from something even if it takes extremes. That's how it goes. Make mistakes and learn. It's whether we can forgive enough to allow them to learn from those mistakes enough

But still it’s not enough to just leave him for a while. He’ll only temporarily learn from his mistakes. A man must work extremely hard in couples and individual therapy, take complete responsibility for his actions, rebuild the trust and repair the damage. It’s a lot of hard work, most men aren’t really capable of. If they don’t do that - forget it - they don’t have the emotional coping skills to deal with life and they’ll just do it again.

She needs to move on, it is like 50 shades of grey but he didn't drop the old lover when the wife was begging him to stay. It doesn't matter if she was suicidal becausd he could have called the police instead of going to risk his life. The car scene says it all.The wife needs to get a better man first her husband.and a better father for her daughter. Blood does NOT mean great father, it is action and care.
The car scenes substantiated how deep he had been emotionally involved in the mistress. He was willing to risk his own life to compensate her. Didn't he really mean to sacrifice everything in order to comfort his white moonlight? I don't think it is an integral issue to convince their break-up.
Mightbe the script writer made contrast for them. The mistress wanted to die if living was without him. He wanted to die if their affairs could be ended up and normal life could be made up. But I still don't think such presentation is convincing.

Each stage of our lives, we see thru our experience. Husband/wife love is one of the trickiest loves. It involves so many facets of love. If fidelity is important in one's marriage, seek someone with same values. If money is most important, take the money & don' t complain. If lust is most important, you're in for the short haul. If you want a Caregiver, pay that person their due. If you want beauty: there's a good Russian comedy sketch. Middle aged wives giving advice to husbands taking on beautiful young mistresses. She should be tired. She is the only one who went into the marriage in good faith, the only one who put in any effort or love, while he neglected her and abused her. I’m exhausted on her behalf. Love is not some trap to keep you in a toxic relationship. She can love him from far away, as a memory as she moves forward with her happy life. Maybe meet a new guy who actually loves and respects her.

Does he really love her or does he want his “family” back? When did he have this epiphany of love for her? Was it before Gao Mi humiliated herself completely, begging him to stay with her and not run to his mistress? Was it after that crazy mistress, that he couldn’t live without, broke up with him after trying to kill him?
Can I ask what “mistakes” he’s talking about? Continuously cheating on her, verbally abusing her, ignoring her, humiliating her - I could go on. These were “mistakes” but it was his CHOICE to do all of that. He chose to do these things to her.
Yes, their marriage was an arrangement agreed on by both. But I don’t think she knew that he would continue dating his mistress and treating her like crap for the two plus years of their marriage .

A little late for that mother/son conversation. Neither of them cherished his wife/mother of his child until they drove her so far away, each in their own way, there is no turning back for her. Mom is only telling him to cherish his wife now because the side chick she preferred he be with has jumped ship. Both are too arrogant to consider that someone they believe to be beneath them has more courage, more staying power, more moral character, more self respect and more heart than both of them combined and they used her sweet, kind, loving, trusting nature against her for their own purposes and egos. Now that she's put her foot down and wants nothing to do with either of them, now they're waking up and realizing what they lost. Mom is urging her son to fix something he's pulverized into the ground so many times, so viciously, in every manner possible and he's arrogant enough to believe it is all going to work out in his favor yet again. His mother admitted his emotional attachment was to the side chick and not to his wife, but now that side chick has moved on, Mom is urging him to convince his wife to come back to the nest. Foolish man still doesn't have a clue how strong his wife is and what staying power she possesses: there is a line she won't cross and he's too blind to see that for a long time, she kept moving that line to accommodate him, his lies, his deception, his betrayal and now that line won't budge; and neither will she. This is a woman who is now completely done with him and his family; she neither wants him, needs him, trusts him nor respects him and, consequently, she has no room left in her heart for him. He pushed her away until she refused to boomerang back to him this time and he still thinks he has a chance at being a 'family' man when he did nothing but treat her like something on his shoe that he stepped in. And the wife's own mother needs a swift kick in the fanny for opening her door to him, letting him be alone behind closed doors with the child, and accepting his bribes. Knowing how poorly he treated her daughter, the door should have shut in his face the moment she opened it to see him standing there. Let him sit out there until his wife comes home and let *her* decide if he'll be allowed inside or not.
