A great video Matt, all credit to Rob & his team, it just shows what can be achieved; in contrast to the Budgerigar Society, that nearly went bankrupt & couldn't hold a club show this year. Nice to see you featuring the Colour budgies which I think could well be the future of the Fancy & attract new members.
@@game_20247 yellow and orange create not-so orange orange canaries (orange is NOT the same as colourfed yellow as stated above). The best pairing would probably be to a white hen, producing both good-quality whites and yellows
@@thomasborg6341 Do you keep canaries? What happens to an orange canary of you don't colour feed it during the moult? Not all yellow canaries will change orange when colour fed but ALL orange canaries are colour fed yellows.
@@game_20247 depends on the genetics of the birds. Personally I would not breed for colour unless I was producing specific coloured varieties, for example; mosaics. What I would be pairing is birds of the same type, for example; Norwich canaries. But since you want yellow canaries; the yellow and orange pair you have will produce that. Test it yourself, feed the yellow chicks colour food once they turn 5 weeks old. They'll turn orange when they finish moulting

I have a question. I want to mate a yellow male canary with an orange female canary. What color do you think their chicks will be?
Orange canaries are just yellows that have been colour fed. The chicks will all be yellow
@@deirdreLaurenceSo, in your opinion, what color female canary should I pair with a yellow male canary that will produce beautiful chicks?
