will not lie the wave sample in turbulence never fails to make me tear up a bit
i remember me and my mutuals stayed up for the 4 am drop and the whole twitter TL was in tears when that wave sample was at the end... like we all died
oh the clue + note thing makes sense now and i love sherlock even more for it.
Yeah it was the first time SM combined both songs to get Sherlock. They did the same with Super M's One where they basically just combined Monster and infinity.
pixy did this with karma as a mashup between flip a coin and hide and seek, but it was because they couldnt pick which one to be the title track and they had pretty similar vibes. as far as i know shinee was the first to do it
HeeJin's "Algorithm" is also sampled in "Flower Rhythm" (with the na nanana nanana part)
My ults Ateez and Loona sampling their own songs because their music is TOO good to have it be a one and done😌

they reference their own songs a lot, it's one of my favorite things about their discography, listening to one of their songs and discovering the little parts they've referenced before, if you haven't checked out their music you should definitely do it 😊

one of my favorites is the connection between eunbi's glitch and the intro to her song croquis which is the instrumental reversed 😁 i love that i can tell how much loona was the inspiration for this video
loona's discography was so well crafted they used to be one of the groups i listened to the most back in pand mic despite not being a stan
so far y haven't listened to any post loona release and i think is sad how everything turned for them as a full group but is also nice seeing they are still in the industry
tbh as an orbit it's been really cool seeing the members get to show their true colors and try new things in their respective projects bc they were really not allowed to be their own artists under BBC. loossemble first EP is so amazing like highkey giving red velvet and i don't say that lightly. i'm also stoked for yves' redebut on may 29th, the visuals and creative direction are already so different and very intimate to her. all this so say i highly recommend checking out loona's post-BBC projects!
pixy also did this in two songs (villain and karma). in villain they sample ‘samkyeo’ from bewitched and in karma they sample ‘if you’re bad then you can call me villain’ from villain.
AND they sample 'wings' in 'intro:end of the forest' and 'let me know in 'sgniw ym htiw ylf'

my favourite intro-title track sampling would probably have to be oneus's intro: window and luna. the prechorus of luna is sang in the intro by a pansori (traditional korean type of singing) singer choi yerim and it is hauntingly beautiful.
and my favourite 2 songs quoting each other is onf's the realist and the dreamer. i cannot stress enough how good those songs are, please give them a listen
Infinite and Lovelyz also use Intros that reference their respective title tracks.
I love when groups do this! Cross Gene did this too with their songs Black Mind and White Mind then being used for Black or White!

the integrity of the stray kids' intro songs within each other and then a full song that completes the story is a very good example of storytelling. Their albums before 2020 were chef kiss in respect of storytelling

This sampled part of "Into the new worlds" in "forever 1" is just so beautifully satisfying. Its been a long journey for girls since the first song came out. They are embracing their beginnings using this sample.

0:50 the fact that their upcoming side track Jonan/Distress also possibly sampled the same song due to the similarities with both choruses
