  • University of Utah invite 2020 Cross Country Ski Race at Soldier Hollow!! Filmed with my Sony I made a race day vlog to film and show some of the fun races that we have here in Colorado and Utah this winter. I hope you enjoy and have a great day!
This is a very edited down video of the race. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for everyone who helped put this race together and I highly recommend it for anyone next year!
Let me know if you have any questions about the race, skis, gear, conditions, etc. in the comments below. Also any feed back on the video would be great!
Sorry for the wind noise, its a first edition GoPro so I tried to hide it with loud songs.

Cheers for the race videos bro. There's just no one else doing vids like this from an english speaking country. Like the pov vids the best. Would be keen to learn how many hours you're training base and pre-season, and what a training week generally looks like with respect to HR zones and sorts of intervals... I am curious to learn how others train as an from downunder where xc ski is not a big sport with many training (except of course when the Olympic teams incl USA come to train 👍). If you have gps data would be awesome to see Garmin overlays for the course and with distance, elevation, time and HR data. You can get the software from Garmin for free so it's pretty easy to sync it up with gopro vid (a-la NorCal cycling YT channel. Keep up the good work and good luck when the racing season starts again this year!

Thanks so much for the comment and the questions! I should do a a video answering these, in case others have the same questions. But a rough answer is during base and pre season my endurance specific training is between 15-25 hours a week in a 4 week periodization cycle. Roughly 2 longer interval sessions one of which is at level 3 pace measuring lactate threshold, (85%max heart rate roughly) and one is level 4 lactate pac (90 to 95% max heart rate). And 2 shorter interval sessions per week at level 4 pace. In the summer I roller ski 100 to 155 miles per week (160 to 249 kilometers) on average and elevation during the week depends on my location but I don't shy away from the big climbs. Hopefully snow and winter are coming soon! Where do you train down under? Any good roller ski roads I should know about? Thanks and good luck to you too!

@@eriklynch7037 our skiing here in NZ is at Snowfarm. Worth looking it up to see what our skiing is like. The trails are top class and really well groomed. We normally have a number of national teams here in August for on snow training, just not this year. I live about 4hrs drive away so during the week I rollerski on paved cycle trails, then ski weekends. Our rollersking is ok expect it's flat along a harbour. When the wind gets up it's enough resistance to offset for 'hill' work, lol. I also use a skierg. Once spring and summer come it's onto the bicycles. Really nice to get an idea of your training. With family and work, I train about 7-10hrs/ week and therefore need to be specific about how I use that time.

@@canadiankiwijay Awesome! Yes I'm very familiar with the Snow Farm and I would love to go one day! Ha yeah with the wind! We have a road here that's flat, that gets a ton of wind, and it's sometimes a full interval just to go 5 kph. That's great you can make your training fit your needs with an emphasis on quality! Do you mountain bike/ gravel bike/or road bike? And which harbor do you roller ski along?
