Why are lymph nodes important in lung cancer?

I have a question. I have scc in my groin and pelvic lymph nodes for 2 yrs and I went to the emergency room for back pain on my right side CT scan show new 7mm nodule in lower right lung. Without doing a biopsy in your opinion is that most likely cancer? Thank you

Thank you for your question. As it is a new nodule, it is most likely a metastasis. If it is on the periphery of the lung it may be removed and your treatment can be replanned.
