DEA Education Requirements for Treatment of SUD

On June 27, 2023, a new one-time requirement will go into effect for all DEA prescribers to complete 8 hours of education on the treatment or management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders (SUD). The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) offers a wide variety of education that meets the needs of all prescribers; from basics to advanced topics on addiction treatment, relevant to all specialties in all care settings.
