There are certain GS pieces that do well on resale - I have an SBGH269 and more recently the SBGA413 and SBGA433. All of them are selling second hand for more than I paid for them. My Rolex Sky dweller is selling for more still, but depending on the GS you get, resale appreciation and value retention are possible.
Hi Lewis, great that you came up with a simple scoring system capturing the essence of the timepieces. It’ll be interesting to see how the spreadsheet develops over time. Gut feel, 9.5 for innovation it’s too high as you start to review other brands which there is a lot. Looking forward to your next post 😊
Rolex as a brand and resale all day, from a horological perspective it does not even get in the ring. My automatic GS that would not even get you into an OP is far superior to most current Rolex watches, 70 hour power reserve, antimagnetic, about +2 sec a day. You buy a GS when horological value starts to matter more than resale.
@@LewisMa I want to like their stuff badly because it’s great value but their designs, at least from afar (I’ve never seen one in person), leave a lot to be desired. Ive looked for a piece from them for a long time but I haven’t found it yet.

instant buy once they have removed power reserve meter in more affordable models.
Rolex is to impress others, Grand Seiko is to impress yourself. I’d like to get on my hands on Godzilla GS.

Why not grand seiko? Their designs.
You don't like their dials? Their cases?
