Tablets aren't computers and can't connect to a network file system easily. I'd recommend migrating all files to OneDrive/SharePoint rather than on-prem network locations. To access network files via a file Explorer on a computer, you need VPN. If you're not planning a cloud file server migration, best option would be to use VDI (remote into a virtual computer) from the tablet so they can access a "full computer desktop".
I won’t bash you video, but I feel you missed a lot. But you did keep it simple for normal people. But feel your video would be more useful to tech based people and you should have gone more into rdp for rds.. but you made a great point that. During corvid a vpn and rdp to existing systems was super simple. But then you can add a Remote Desktop server for more security and control. Also please add you can have rdp/rds in cloud services too like azure plus much more now 2024. Leaving this here not to bash your video but for anyone who was watching hoping for rdp for more than the old remote your office pc.
Thanks for the comment! Obviously so much more to say, but this video was made to be kept short with a specific purpose. This video was made years ago for people at the company I was working who were working in a very complicated VPN -to- VDI -to- RDP type arrangement. We used the terms a lot and it was very confusing for the end users, so I created a video to take some of the confusion out of the terms, then flipped it into a public video.
Thanks for explaining so easily to a non tech savvy person like me 😅phewww ❤
Happy to help!
Thanks for the great explanation :) Which one would you recommend if the only purpose was to make files on network drives accessable on tablets?
