Such sailing purity; a tub, a rag, and a stick. No-one and nothing to blame but yourself. People like Scheidt, Ainslie and Thompson won against huge fleets over and over again for years. I don't know how they did it.
Lasers capsize easily, but righting is even easier. If you're really on it you can scamper over the rail to the daggerboard, right the boat, and get back into the cockpit without ever getting wet. We used to do that as a drill when I was a kid.
idk the content is even upscaled to 1440p. In my latest video it is much better. It is race 5 of the same race day th-cam.com/video/UPK4yDxiGVk/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=LaserDN
@@Owannagotobed here is some advice, just enjoy the process and dont rush it. I think the best years are with friends in radial, personal opinion. Its also key that you start going to the gym as early as possible, training multiple tiemes a week, doing strength training. Sorry for the long text :/
I did a set of races in that type of condions, during the worst of it the average knockdowns was 12 or so. Triangles, on ther reaches everytime I felt good bam I was over. I weighed in at about 145 at the time, the real fun was finding and switching boats between races! USNA maybe Spring 1980.
Bluntly put pretty shit coverage as the last 10 seconds shows that the Brit took line honours, but nowhere does it show he actually achieved that. It’s purely lumpy conditions with no story to tell. Acceptable yes, but not riveting
How is this the first time iv seen this footage?
Because you weren’t paying attention 7 years ago
I think I was under the same rock!
Time is linear
Rough waters!!! Respect!!!🤩🤩👍
Glorious finish, but nothing beats that kind of chaos at the windward mark.
its incredible
Great race, thank you!
Thanks for watching! will upload more soon so subscribe 4 more!
That looks dreadfully cold but so much fun 🤩
cold in winter only
Where do you get this footage it’s so great
Found a VCR from an 80s camcorder by the looks of it. Oh, the interlacing!
i love heavy wind😄
where can i watch full race video ?
Look at Nick Thompson go! Just like an easy midsummer outing on the Channel, ha ha!
Loved racing my laser 😢

Oh the times I’ve been like the Swedish and the Malaysian boats at the windward mark! But for me in benign Force 3 winds!
Going downwind is scary in those , they capsize so easily

Why is this interlaced footage? This is last century tech.

It’s because most races can’t get as high quality equipment on the water. It’s a lot harder than getting something for the 100m track race :)
@@OwannagotobedI'm pretty sure it wasn't recorded as interlaced footage. I suspect someone messed up the export settings.
Awesome ❤
Thats tough!!
Looks like the cameraman was barely surviving :)
Phew, that's one way to build up a six-pack!
was that kevin my friend?!
Late port tack approach ill advised.
Survival? Just easy in a Laser no issue
que leyenda Robert Scheidt, 43 años en esas condiciones, tremendo.
Tremendo!
@@laserDN hay una regata donde tom slingby da una clase magistral de cómo marcar creo que en 2012 contra los pavlos kontides
The music ruins this video, what's wrong with the songs of wind and water?
there was no wind neither of wind or water. I had to place music because there were lots of empty spaces
Those uh… those are full rigs, aren’t they?
they are
Lowkey I sail 4.7s right now and full scare me :/
Really cool and I can’t wait until I’m able to sail them

Best of luck with your sailing!

Let’s go El Salvador 🎉🎉🎉
Why the noise?
Que locura tremeno chaos
Sisis tremendo
Where's the chaos?
Why do they hide the full race??
this is the only footage that i was able to find
Annoying music😢
Laser looks like a 'pig' to sail in those conditions!
Commentator obviously not a sailor, doesn’t look that windy just big waves - no where near survival conditions …
Commentator is Peter Lester. Is very much a sailor. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Lester
It always looks less windy in a video than it feels on the water. Lasers also have a pretty high sail area to hull size ratio.

I don’t know, dude, that looks pretty serious. Sail a contender.
Looks a lot like hard work, not so much like good fun.
obviously you don't know much about sailing
The sailing cant stand on it's own, it's nothing without the crappy soundtrack!
He calls el Salvador estonia
Hardly Survival Conditions...Sail FINN..LoLaser
I would love to have watched this - but couldn't because of the pointless stupid loud music.

Catastrophic video quality
Argh, another great video ruined by music
stressful enough without adding that annoying stressful music
"Insane", "chaos", "unbelievable "?? Meh.
Thanks!
