I ran into him once at JFK airport. He is about the same height as I am so I wasn’t as impressed as I hoped I would be. He’s definitely extremely handsome though. I literally almost ran into him. I was making a run for my plane before boarding ended. That airport is huge! Anyway I was in a full sprint with my bags and he just stepped out in front of me. His back was to me and I almost broke my leg stopping myself. He spun around almost the same time and I think he almost kicked me. When he saw it was me, he stopped. I apologized and ran to my plane. I wish I hadn’t been in such a hurry. I’d have loved to get his autograph
Some says he was 11 and sometimes in some interview Vdamme says he was 9 or 11 years old when he started martial arts and other says he was 12,5 years old and again VDamme says he was 13 years or age of 10 years old ... Its mean the age is not sure when he began his martial arts training lol And there is some other mistakes from youtuber but i wanna say more somethings in about the Epic splits - VDamme told ppl its was not without cables but he was controled protected by special cables and some other things to not fall down on the ground but yeah the splits was real only he was on many cables and some other things to protect him from dangreaus stunts..
It's crazy how many trolls make this comment, it wasn't VFX, Van Damme was the VFX himself, the stunt was real and filmed in a controlled environment. They have videos that show you how they did it. He did the stunt in one take without having to reshoot or anything, the trucks were really driving backwards the whole time to show the precision on the trucks running backwards while someone doing the splits between them. There is no VFX at all used in the commercial. Van Damme and other action stars like him were in a time where they didn't use VFX in their movies because they were the VFX and did their own fighting and stunts. They don't make movies like that anymore because there is only a few newer action stars like Scott Adkins and Jason Statham that make movies like that now. Mostly now it's VFX used and wire work for the fighting with the actors that aren't even really trained in the Martial Arts, but in Van Damme's era, they were the ones who were the VFX. Don't spread shit when you truly don't know anything that you are talking about because a lot of people already know truth and it makes you look like a troll

Actually it is him doing the real spilt between two trucks if your talking about his Epic Splits commercial with Volvo Trucks, they only had cables to protect him from falling and stuff if the stunt had gone wrong, but he ended up shooting the stunt in one shot and Van Damme always does the splits for real, it's his trademark and it's like second nature to him to do the splits. So yet the split was real.
Many things listed here as Van Dammes achievements are pure rubbish.. Van Damme..(varenburg) had 1 amateur kickboxing fight in a ring.. all his other experience is pure amateur point karate fighting in the mats .. he wouldn't have lasted 1 round against any decent pro kickboxer let alone a pro champ .. Van Damme also never trained muaythai apart from a few sessions.
