Thank you so much for making this. I wanted to get out of same old rut of FB or DH. Wanted to find way use the new Elite. So this will be fun to fiddle and learn. Got some crafting to get some parts but overall it gives something to change up my old dusty crusty guard.
The build is great, had good fun on it. There's also a low-intensity version with a bit more range and other utility called Dragonhunter :) As for stuff I'd like to see next, how about Hammer Spellbreaker? It's fairly strong now, good damage and very tanky, however I struggle a bit with it, especially with adjusting the rotation to encounters and, say, deciding on Full counter procs. Power Virtuoso is an option too!
So this build does work nicely. I was really interested to test it out. Wonder why people don't put this on metabattle... I see a lot of good builds missing from there. Maybe its not the right place to "check"?
Thank you for the video. Question....would celestial gear be fine for this build in open world? I ask because, if I made a new guardian to play this, I want to just use a bump to 80 kit. I tried leveling a Guardian before and I just couldn't do it due to boredome. Level bumps give free celestial gear, so....do you think it would work?
how much of a dps loss would be to swap offhand sword in place of focus? not a guard main, never played focus so i'm inclined to using double sword cause its fucking willbender, i dont feel attached to focus and it doesn't feel like its the main dps weap

The fact that you explain wahats going on on your rotation on a real fight is really great, Hopefully I end up playing willbender because at the moment im debating it, I only get like 11k hp (without food/utility) so idk if a noob like me can survive on a though fight like t4s fractals or raids.

@@pauloginete9576 of course, getting to 100% crit is usually worth it but its always a question of minimizing losses to get it, this way is just the optimal way of doing it
How does this build stack up to the condo version now? I am still working on legendary gear, so would be nice to be able to optimize a single set instead of doing a hybrid for pve/wvw
im still of the opinion dps meters are generally not for the majority of people, but seeing the responses to my video proved that many people arent perceptive enough to understand the nuances, so i'll just give people what they want while not putting much emphasis on it
@@Vallun So I made it through the video, it sounds like you have a real prejudice against dps meters and you arenet thinking objectively, as I said previously because of some cons to dps meters you suggest removing the thing completely however if you are looking to improve your dps then dps meters provide you with the only real metrics to do that. within an MMO whenever you do group content there is an expectation that you perform to the best of your abilities. Gw2 probably has the largest disparity of dps between good and bad players out of any mmo, and educating people on just how large that gap is can only be done with dps meters. I'm completely with you on the "speedrun" build issues as lots of people use snowcrows and their builds are specifically benchmarks while mostly good there are often cases that they arent the best choices for encounters or significantly raise the difficulty of a class for a few 100 dps. good example being condi DD with doom sigil, take a burst instead and never swap weapon. worse dps but much more relaxing. your argument though that dps meters leads to people ignoring mechanics is rather loose, I'd argue in my own experience that people who dont do mechanics are usually the least confident players and yes you have greeders but they are shadowed by either lazy or inexperienced players not doing mechanics. In conclusion though, if you are brought into a group to do dps, and your dps is not on average/above average, you are not performing your role. your role is DPS, you can argue all day that dps doesnt matter etc and you dont need optimal dps but thats up to the commander.
@@aidanfenton4377 a dps meter doesnt improve your damage, it tells you an arbitrary number in relation to others with no context to what roles or mechanics they are performing. What is "not enough damage"? It's when you fail to enrage timer or phases do not progress before they become overwhelming. MOST people will improve by focusing on surviving and sticking to mechanics, so long as they use a good build and loosely understand it. For those who already have that covered (which is a small minority of players) they should use a dps meter. Therefore most people should uninstall the dps meter
I want to try this, I am not that into condi and got bored of waiting to hit with dragon slash on war, as fun as it was at the beginning. It feels sad when you get interrupted by many things actually. What is your dps out of curiosty?
@@Nate-sg6zs it would preferably those 2, but if its slightly below or above the crit cap it wouldnt matter, and mine isnt perfectly optimized either its just the most conveniently optimized
What i would like to see is a build from each major class Using which ever Elite Specialization under that class example Guardian (Firebrand, DragonHunter or Willbender), that can easily complete or story mode pve including meta events, from main story to end of dragons.
@@Vallun No no during raids, sometimes ... stuff happens like bubbles with largos twins, different knockdowns stuns do happen and healers are sometimes either too busy or not close by and do not use the stun clears (under cooldown)
@@wolfyno3950 if you really wanted you can take stand your ground, but i find the f3 and focus 5 are good for preventing those stuns from happening in the first place

Typically save your adrenaline for full burst. Feel free to use full counter during phases where you arent able to damage the boss to skip mechanics.
So this build does work nicely. I was really interested to test it out. Wonder why people don't put this on metabattle... I see a lot of good builds missing from there. Maybe its not the right place to "check"?

In video I saw that you not using f1 and f3 out of CD. Do you save them to stack with GS dps rotation?
What can you bench on the golem? I know the benchmark on snowcrows is ~41k but when I try the build I only get 32-33k.

not much, but focus also is defensive so much better overall

Sigil of Force and Sigil of Accuracy stack? I thought the different Sigil types were so you can't stack...
is the builds still fine with scholar runes? whats the dmg loss?
if you want to ignore the thief runes then scholar would be comparable, just little less dmg

is there no way to incorporate Dragon stats in this build? the DPS DH has Dragon and some Berserkers.
the way is to use radiance instead of virtues but that requires an entirely different skill rotation

what do you need a stun break for in raids? if you are using this build in open world, then i suggest using the open world build instead
