Activating Anderson's Cochlear Implant

My son getting his cochlear implant activated on 05/14/2013. We happily call this his hearing birthday. He has had a hearing aid in his right ear but hasn't heard anything in his left ear for around two years now. Great stuff.

So beautiful ! What an astonishing reaction from this little boy, as he struggles to make sense of this puzzling new sensation. You can see he doesn't even conceive of it as sound, at first. Fascinating ! In addition, of course, I bawled my eyes out the whole time !

oddfellowfloyd do you have a cochlear implant? You could see he heard, but maybe didn't understand. The understanding will come later. Just nice to have him hear.

Sometimes I get a little sad for the kids they get scared this is something completely new to them and I don't know if I agree with all these but weird banging sounds and things like that that's kind of traumatizing if they've never heard sound before

Hello Wade. I know this was posted quite a while ago. My granddaughter is scheduled to have surgery in about 6 weeks. We are praying for the best. How is your little guy doing now after 4 years? How is his speach? Can he hear music as we do? There are so many things on the internet these days, it is hard to know what to believe. Thanks for posting. I hope to hear back from you. God bless!

El niño no entiende idioma hablado lo tendrá que aprender, ahora ya escucha los sonidos tendra que aprender a reproducirlos, las vocales, las sílabas, las palabra y sus significados, lo mismo que hicimos nosotros, por lo general arrancamos por dos bellas silabas...ma y pa cuando la repites haces magia para los demás.
