I'm from Paraná, one of the states in the south of Brazil where yerba mate is produced for chimarrão and tererê (which is drunk from a horn or "guampa", as it is called here). I'm a big fan of your videos.
The chimarrão is very, VERY, V E R Y, similar to the mate, a infusion (drink made of mixes, like tea or coffe) the leyenda de la yerba mate (legend of the yerba mate) tells that the moon went to the earth as a human for few days (leaves earth and comes back) and a day she (cuz in spanish the moon is Feminine) told the sun to go with her (note: in spanish the sun is Masculine "EL sol" but in the legend is represented has a woman) and accepted, they were exploring in the rainforest when the got found by a yaguarete (variant of the puma) and a near person saved them, and they got back to it's places (moon and sun) and the person went to sleep. When in it's tribe(los Guaraníes) woke up they found the plant of mate, when smashing his leaves in a morter and mixing with water they got mate, the also called mate, which is a empty pumpkin (mainly. Now the mates uses plastic metal or smtng similar) without filling, we use it to fill with mate and with a (bombilla, IDR how it is in english, hehe😅) you drink it, there is three divided communities of the mate amargo/sour(i think), The mate dulce con azúcar/sweet with sugar and mate dulce con edulcorante/sweet with edulcorants Edit I forgot to say that the guaraní tribe is in the northeast of Argentina, half of Paraguay and the south of brasil
