Have watched this a hundred times or so over the past ten years. Still my favorite quartet out of the many stellar quartets down thru the years. That last tag is to die for.
Holy crap!!! I got goosebumps all over my body when that final note resolved! I can't watch this without a huge smile breaking out on my face. Love it!! :D
It's a nice change to see/hear Jeff sing a bit higher in the first song than he normally does. What a beautiful voice. The best bass barbershop will ever see.
My body just jolts when Jeff sings "We stick together we can see if through cuz." He is by far the best singer in the group. Although they all are amazing.
Like WeightlessAnchor said, that's Gary on the Ab. It may be written with the lead going up to the Ab on the sheet music, but that isn't how they sing it. If you listen to it on the album or on any other Max Q You Can Fly videos, you can tell it's Gary. Also, if you listen carefully, you can hear Gary's characteristic addition of color at the end of his note, right as they cut off. Plus, just look at him rev into that last note!
@TNfireman38 Jeff Oxley (the big guy) sings bass through most of the song. When he moves up to the lead part, Gary Lewis (baritone, far right) takes over the bass part. They match voices so well you can hardly tell.
I've got this song on the For The Children CDs and they lock and ring the chords just as well live. Good ringing and bouncing back echoey acoustics that might be why.
@BHS2011able It is DEFINITELY Gary on the high octave on the last chord of "You Can Fly" - sorry, but you missed it. You can also notice that Tony pulls away from the mic earlier than Gary, which is why the 5th disappears from the chord earlier than the octave. Gary held onto the octave a little longer than the others held onto the chord.
Mario Hernandez-Gerety you might be my favorite barbershopper on BE, man. In every controversial thread that we've both been on, or that you've posted, we've had nothing but agreement with each other. Gary's on that high A, 100%. Gary usually takes the high octave and Tony usually takes the 5th.
I still come back to this video regularly. When I posted my first comment (15 years ago), I had no idea how big barbershop was or who I was telling to "keep it up"! Now, even the idea of trying to be encouraging to Tony DeRosa makes me laugh but hey, it was all in good spirits. This is a huge, positive community!
they're awesome. i'd give anything to be in a group like that! I love the a capella groups but i just found out about maxq. i love on their albums how they dub themselves over - i do recording like that so i really appreciate it when it's done well!
Every time I listen to this, I get goosebumps and tears in my eyes. These songs + this quartet = perfection. Plus, my boyfriend loves Toy Story and Peter Pan, so it always makes me think fondly of him :)
I know the sheet music and i know Max Q, i dont want to start anything but even on the CD it has Gary going up on the high Ab. I saw them live i used my ears and its Gary.
@6vocals9 I found the arranger and the site. I don't really know all that much about purchasing arrangements with a 'arrangers fee', but it's $125. The guy's name is David Harrington and has a site called studiodh. If you just chuck that into google you'll find him. I find the price a bit steep...
@brianisawesom I think he pretty much always sings bass. I've seen one video where he sings lead on the Star Spangled Banner. He gets his solos, though.
2 things... 1) holy shit bass man you got some pipes on that 20 second finish you had!!!! 2) holy shit everyone else for such an amazing finish as well
How is it even possible for humans to produce such a sound? It's absolutely amazing.
Revisiting this after about ten years, and the undertone at 5:18 is about as good as it gets.
That "You Can Fly" tag ending gets better every time I hear it.
Best tag I've ever heard!
Never seen the tenor look so comfortable in the quartet as in the first song - looks really natural. Great video.
The tag at the very end is by FAR the best ive ever heard. its unbelievable.
Astounding. Simply astounding. It is not possible that there is a better quartet than this.
Best SP I've ever seen. Looks so ridiculously comfortable. They make you love them the moment they get on stage. Definitely something to aspire to.
Have watched this a hundred times or so over the past ten years. Still my favorite quartet out of the many stellar quartets down thru the years. That last tag is to die for.
I love watching these guys perform together.
20th time ive watched this. How many more times do I need to watch this before it gets boring? I say infinity lol
Infinity and beyond
Absolutely amazing a cappella group. Love it!
Favorite movie of all time, probably best song for a movie ever as well
THEY NAILED IT!
U guys r GREAT...
Thanx for sharing....
Celestino...
wow! amazing sound! I love the last held note by the bass!
Dude. My ears just came. Respect.
I just love this ending. I never get tired of hearing it - ever! ♥
I've seen this video about 15 times now, and it's still just as great as the first. ^.^
how can you NOT smile after listening to this? it's brilliant :D
this makes me happy....i love Disney music! Their rendition is just great!
Holy crap!!! I got goosebumps all over my body when that final note resolved! I can't watch this without a huge smile breaking out on my face. Love it!! :D
I got goosebumps at the end.
It reminds me of a group from the 70's called the KINGSMEN out of Atlanta, Georgia.
It's a nice change to see/hear Jeff sing a bit higher in the first song than he normally does. What a beautiful voice. The best bass barbershop will ever see.
I love belting the C# along to this recording at the end of "You can fly", the arrangement really flies.
Damn. The overtones ringing out on the last chord were amazing.
i just love this video, i listen to this almost every time im on youtube!
This made me chuckle especially the cubby one
i can’t help but keep going back to this performance. it’s just so entertaining and impressive. also, it’s an a natural post at the end ;)
Fantastic!
My body just jolts when Jeff sings "We stick together we can see if through cuz." He is by far the best singer in the group. Although they all are amazing.
Fantastic performance!
This is great!! You've all got a real talent! Keep it up guys. Really enjoying it!!
That is why Jeff Oxley has been dubbed the greatest voice barbershop has seen.
they are amazing!!
awesome, smiles all round! :)

I have to get this CD for my kids!!! My boys will go wild!
man, the tag to you can fly is soooooooooo epic!!!
@TNfireman38 Jeff Oxley (the big guy) sings bass through most of the song. When he moves up to the lead part, Gary Lewis (baritone, far right) takes over the bass part. They match voices so well you can hardly tell.
LiveFromWonderland I swear that Gary will be the first guy to win gold on all four parts.
I've got this song on the For The Children CDs and they lock and ring the chords just as well live. Good ringing and bouncing back echoey acoustics that might be why.
Just Gary showing everyone who's Boss!!
@BHS2011able It is DEFINITELY Gary on the high octave on the last chord of "You Can Fly" - sorry, but you missed it. Francesco Logozzo Haha, thanks! It's good to know that at least one person agrees with me! lol
Greg sings tenor . . . .
Ralph Priessman - Greg Clancy does sing tenor, but we are talking about Gary Lewis, not Greg. :)
Yall did a great job on u got a friend in me
From the second Jeff (bass) takes the tag on in "You Can Fly" everything in my body wakes up.
Max Q is what you could call a group of bad asses
Holy Jesus fucking Christ. I wasn't expecting that ending at the very end of the video. Fuck. That was impressive. Goosebumps guys, keep it up!
9 years later, I still watch this video often. Amazing renditions!

@@b33p aww :)
i love this vid and max q
The big guy has an awesome voice
got goosebumps
This makes me want to start my own barbershop quartet!
Man, just listen to Oxley start to pour it on why before the last chord! His volume increases amazingly! Wow! Awesome tag!
Easily one of the best acapella sounds on TH-cam.
they're awesome. i'd give anything to be in a group like that! I love the a capella groups but i just found out about maxq. i love on their albums how they dub themselves over - i do recording like that so i really appreciate it when it's done well!
Cool! Just found your CD's on iTunes.
Every time I listen to this, I get goosebumps and tears in my eyes. These songs + this quartet = perfection. Plus, my boyfriend loves Toy Story and Peter Pan, so it always makes me think fondly of him :)
WOOOOOOOOOOWW!!
Gary on the Ab at the end! Always.
Amazing :)
I know the sheet music and i know Max Q, i dont want to start anything but even on the CD it has Gary going up on the high Ab. I saw them live i used my ears and its Gary.
I LOVE the chords at 2:37-38, 3:30-34, and pretty much ALL of you can fly!
That overtone an octave above the tenor's A was SCREAMING.
yeah, that's a sick tag on "You Can Fly".
i think its funny how far greg popped forward from jeez GREAT sound guys keep singing!!
Oh my GOD! So fucking good.
whaw, NICE job guys :)
@6vocals9 I found the arranger and the site. I don't really know all that much about purchasing arrangements with a 'arrangers fee', but it's $125. The guy's name is David Harrington and has a site called studiodh. If you just chuck that into google you'll find him. I find the price a bit steep...
Is their music on cd to buy?
They should be performing in Carnegie Hall in tuxes
starting at the left, the 3rd guy looks like the guy who plays the sidekick in the pink panther movie.
such sustain
Beautiful at 4:22, nice low chord.
Jeff must have not been feeling 100%. He coughed like 3 times or so during these two songs. He's still da man!!!!!!!
The chord on "friend" at 3:42 is a Major 7th chord in root position.
best note ever! 6:26
@brianisawesom I think he pretty much always sings bass. I've seen one video where he sings lead on the Star Spangled Banner. He gets his solos, though.
he is the bass of the group. he always sings bass.
I have to agree with Paul, Tony's singing the fifth, Gary's up top. And, not to add to the argument, but it sounds closer to an A to me...
Are you kidding me?! I'd kill to have that!
Cory Hunt is coaching mine, he lives in reno, I live in carson just 30 minutes away. He's pretty good.
Love, love, love!! Can you still get their cd's? Haven't got this one and would love it.
W-O-W!
3:42 that chord is gold!
Fuckin' Gary Lewis on the last chord of You Can Fly. Unreal.
The guy on the far left sounds exactly like Woody! This song is so good.
I feel good that I can do the 20 second bass finish lol.
And the end Tony hits an A natural to the A major chord ending on "You can Fly", if thats what you mean.
3:26 - Somebody almost sounded like Louis Armstrong!
You can fix the aspect ratio of this video easily by adding this to the video's tags:
yt:stretch=4:3
2 things...
1) holy shit bass man you got some pipes on that 20 second finish you had!!!!
2) holy shit everyone else for such an amazing finish as well
Wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
3:40! Best Part EVER!

3:51 👌💯🔥
does anyone know the chord on the word "friend" at 3:42?
toy story:D i love this song!
where was this? an afterglow? Obviously something casual!
he's on the high Ab :)
