    While I agree with the overall premise of this video. I also have to say it took DECADES for those car that your father drove and bought for pennies to reach their 20-40k ranges they sit at now in great condition. The JDM market has done that in literally 3-5 years. Yes it IS supply and demand, but there is also A LOT of blatant market manipulation by sellers/exporters in Japan, and Importers here in the U.S/Canada. The more you research into the auctions in Japan and the people buying/selling 80s and 90s JDM cars there, the more obvious it is. Some other TH-camrs have even made videos about KNOWN and talked about market manipulation by famous dealerships/independent sellers in Japan and the US, and even Japanese politicians. The JDM market was treated like a meme stock or a short sale. I'm hoping it normalizes once 90% of the people who would buy these cars, get priced out of the market and these exporters/importers are like "damn, we're not selling shit anymore."

      You hit the nail on the head! Exactly, it only took a few years and I wasn't expecting it as most weren't. ~ The cars at dealers, for the most part, were at auction at some point. I think the cars will either flatten out (price wise) or will get to the point where only a certain buyer will want one.
      I'm probably going to import another 1-2 cars soon once I move but we'll see.
      Thanks for the comment :)

    You’re right
    People thinking prices will go down is just wishful thinking
    They will go down when people stop caring about them which will only happen when petrol cars are a thing of the past

    Very interesting insight and prediction. I’ve been really getting into JDM 90s cars, these days it seems real impossible to acquire one especially because of the cost. To find one in fair, good, driveable condition. For now I will just admire them in my weekly dose of TH-cam pov drives, IG posts 😂….Currently working on a 4th gen Eclipse. These things are available abundantly, dirt cheap aswell also not a very common modified car, gotta start somewhere man 👍🏼

      Thanks for your comment! I should not have sold this orange 180sx from this video because right after, the prices went up LOL...Once I get another car imported in the next 3-5 months, I'll start uploading again and specifically a lot of POV/drifting videos so subscribe, if you don't mind. :) See you on the other side and good luck with your Eclipse!

    Every car in Japan has gone up significantly, and I have only been here 2 years. Everything, from JZX's, to Evo's, GC8's, S-chassis, 90's Hondas, etc.. all sky rocketing in price. It's too the point where the cars that are coming close to import eligibility are out of reach for most people, so they buy cars that are 4-5 years from importability and thus those prices are jumping up. I don't think prices will slow down anytime soon, as long as people are willing to pay.

      At this point, I completely agree man. It's almost worth it to just wait for the 400z and "save" money. hahah

      Selling this car was a mistake because, since then, the prices for 180sx/Silvlas have gone up ~$4,000-$7,000. lol...thanks for the comment ~ No, I don't think the prices will drop

    Neat bike. As cool as JDM is, at what point do people just start looking at domestic shitboxes as the alternative to S-Chassis and E30's.

      Some already have, just depends if someone really wants that specific Japanese car. I personally would pay more :) ~ That's a Z900RS 2018 model but I sold it a few months ago. Great bikes with tons of aftermarket options

    At some point people will look at these $150-250k R34 GTRs and think "why am I paying $200k+ for an econo-box with an uprated engine when I can get a Porsche GT2 rs from the same period for the same price that's an ACTUAL sports car"

    • @KuriTwitch
      @KuriTwitch 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Like a 2001 GT2 has more power, lighter, CHEAPER, better handling, just WAYYY better in almost every regard and it's only $150k, and it also is an "investment" that keeps going up same as the R34 GTR

  • @gone7296

    S-chassis are between 20-30k for a decent one in aus now some 40k for a type x. R32 gtr are around 80-90k your lucky if you can get one in the 50k range

      That's insane! The orange car, from this video, I sold for $16kUSD and that was me giving it away pretty much. It didn't take long to sell though! The prices in Aus/NZ seem to be higher than most places. But there were also a lot ragged/bashed over there. :)

    It really depends on the car on how prices will end up. Something like the A80 Supra they keep going up. Even the NA auto, but very slowly.
    Only a matter of time before owning any of these jdm legends will only gonna be for rich zoommers and X'ers. You'd be better off buying something modern

    • @jonathanrice-exec11
      @jonathanrice-exec11  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can still get some good deals from auctions and even private party you just have to keep your eyes peeled. But for the most part, importers and even prices in general will stay high; I completely agree!
      It'll end up being cheaper (and better) to buy a400Z than a lot of the old(er) cars. That's why I'm probably just keeping the Laurel.

    As young dude who's saving and saving stupid money, Yea this is awful
    cant affroad a regular RS13 200sx there because just simple one would cost 7k$+++ instead of 2-4k$ Like 6 years ago
    Sad to see it's happening now, but cant do nothing with it.

But we'll just have to wait and see. I think once the '96+ TypeX 180sxs are legal for U.S. import,we'll be seeing the prices go up even more.
