- न्यूयॉर्क पुलिस ने मंगलवार की रात कोलंबिया यूनिवर्सिटी कैैंपस की एक इमारत से छात्र-छात्राओं को बाहर निकालने की कार्रवाई शुरू की। उन्होंने इमारत पर कब्जा कर लिया था।
हैमिल्टन हॉल की इमारत को खाली कराने के लिए यूनिवर्सिटी ने पुलिस से मदद मांगी थी। इसके बाद करीब 300 छात्र-छात्राओं को गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया।
गाजा पर इजराइल के हमले को लेकर अप्रैल के बीच में कैंपसों में विरोध शुरू हुआ। ये विरोध पूरे अमेरिका की यूनिवर्सिटियों के साथ-साथ कनाडा और फ्रांस में भी फैल गया है। पिछले दो हफ्ते में अमेरिका के कैंपसों में सैकड़ों विद्यार्थियों और फैकल्टी के कुछ सदस्यों को गिरफ्तार किया गया है।
