Love this story. I have absolutely no idea how this guy kept sane. The emphasis on how he was in pitch black the entire time needs to be realised. There are quotes of hearing things within that boat/ship feasting on the others, his imagination must have gone into overload. What a man, what a story. I only wish this human peace for the remainder of his hopefully full, long and happy life.

This was just a great video. I knew the story before but having a former diver with a wealth of knowledge and experience guide us through the event really helped convey how truly terrifying and incredible this story of survival is. More content like this would be very welcome!!

  • @neil676

What an absolute gem of a story, and what a brilliant way to convey it. The absolute fact is that 90% of us men and women, would not have been able to survive like Harrison did. The fact this man actually lived to tell the tale and how he managed to stay calm to conserve his energy, how he propped himself up on a mattress to avoid the cold water and how the sheer chance of the air pocket being there, and the coke bottle coming to hand is truly monumental, in terms of how astronomical the chances of something like that happening are INSANE. Nonetheless, I absolutely loved the style of this video, and I was enticed from the first few seconds. The oceans are a scary place man.

This is amazing. Literally just today (2nd July) I became a PADI certified open water diver and they teach you the importance of safety stops after descending to certain depths to avoid decompression sickness. At 30 metres he’d have been in that water which would’ve been freezing cold for AGES. What a man and what a story, well covered by a knowledgeable diver as well. Awesome video, Brain. More like this please!

But when it’s happening it’s a horrible horrible feeling, I usually wish I was anywhere else. Fair play to this guy, amazing!

My god! Harrison must have been terrified! I can't think of anything more terrifying than being trapped in a tiny room, 100 ft. down, realizing that no one knows you are there. What are the odds that someone would find him in time, before he suffocated? I have to think they were very slim. I can't imagine the terror. I'm amazed that he doesn't have PTSD. Not only does he not, but he actually decided to, quite literally, immerse himself in what almost killed him. What a guy!
