Really enjoy your videos and love the board, bowls and stones! Wanted to asked specifically about the stones -- what are they made of?

Man... I love this video. 16 minutes in and I've watched one or two other videos of yours. I was quick to sub because of the humorous, simple and conversational tone in your lessons. I'm a 9x9 baby embarrassed by how long it took me to realise I don't need to avoid 361-point videos since they feature corner plays with similar principles 🤣
You rock, Simple Baduk !!!!!!!! Much love 🩵

In your pincer video you said it is bad to play large nights move in response to an approach.

Yes, it's a general rule, but there are times when it can be a good choice depending on the specific situation. If we don’t have a specific plan with that large knights, then we can just keep it simple and play small knights

This is a life saver. It will take me days to process all of the informations.

I would recommend to just casually watch it to get familiar with everything without memorizing anything. And move on with your life and play Go. Whenever you spot something in your game, try to read out what to do. You should have an okay result because you have a vague impression of it. After the game, immediately find this video to refresh your memory about that specific situation. This way, you will be able to memorize and understand them with ease. Tbh, trying to understand and memorize everything in one sitting doesn't work for most people. We just.. forget haha

Awesome compilation thanks! And good to read your reply above on how to process this :)
I also really appreciate you both keeping it simple (ha), and specifically saying oh don’t worry about this until you are at least X rank.

What are the things to the left of the board?

    • @simplebaduk
      @simplebaduk  ปีที่แล้ว +1

The clear thing is what people use to keep the books from flipping when reading. Or keep paper straight when painting. The brass thingy is a decorative brass crab. And the things on the bottom left are walnuts. I play with walnuts or bracelets when I am playing go to prevent me from making impulse moves haha

I think that you do a really good job at introducing concepts to players and specifically showing them what *not* to do. But, your recommended variations seem to be either wishful thinking or concede too much for the sake of simplicity.

Thank you for your kind words!
The idea behind showing the recommended variations and bad variations is to show people the concepts of those variations so they can freestyle in their own games.
Once they can get used to these simple variations, they will go ahead and explore other possibilities on their own time if they want to. If I try to show only the best and full variations and also explain the logics behind them, then every single one of my videos are going to be too complicated and challenging to most viewers. On top of that, someone who seeks to learn those kind of things probably would rather watch Hwang's or other professionals' videos instead of mine haha
Most of the time in kyu games, we don't even get to use proper josekis because the opponents always do something wrong. Although a player is not familiar with all the variations, he/she still has an edge because he/she knows what to expect at the end.

I also intentionally left out some vatiations and techniques because it can get confusing if introduced too early for someone who is still learning how to defend a 3 space extention invasion etc
I have seen too many people confusing variation A and B and always get bad results if that kind of variation comes up and start to shy away from that one. I don't want to see that happening from my viewers, so I intentionally left out some stuff.
I will introduce more and more complicated concepts and techniques in Invasion for Aggression series though!
