Nobody sings it better than Robert Merrill.. It is by far the best version and I heard it many times when I was at Yankee Stadium. They should still play it at every Home game at Yankee Stadium
I remember when they played the audio of this before every yankee game in the 60's and 70's. WPIX would play it on the TV also, no commercial break. Brings back a lot of memories.
I remember hearing this version so many times at Yankee Stadium. It is still the best. I think of it wistfully every time some amateur mutilates the anthem before a game.
All I can say is WOW. I posted a version that I lifted from a Channel 11 New York TV broadcast. But this is phenomenal! Full frequency response, the complete version from start to finish, AND IN STEREO!!! Thanks for posting it.

@@Mrfourstring Many years ago, I heard this anthem and wrote to the Yankees about acquiring a copy. They were kind enough to send me 45 rpm record of Merrill's anthem. I made tapes and have used it over a hundred times over the years. Simply an outstanding rendition by an outstanding singer.
NOBODY did or does it better. Simple, in tune, beautiful voice, with NO messing with the notes or rhythm. Pure perfection.

I remember at the Stadium it would fall dead silent when it was played. No one spoke or said a word. If someone did, the Yanks will lose.
