These very non-linear medieval books always look so interesting to me. The kinds of books that can't really work as audio books. But would work very well as dynamic hypertext documents. Sometimes I like to explore the documents uploaded on the Digital Vatican Library. I'm often struck by just how much white space is left in the margins of each page, to give plenty room for note-taking. Especially when you consider just how expensive parchment would have been.
Is there anything else like the Glossa? It’s so pretty and I would love a full Bible with this kind of layout from the original manuscript traditions with study notes from church fathers. Great video as always and thanks for highlighting these resources!
The Catena Aurea is a similar document, but only for the 4 Gospels. It was edited by Thomas Aquinas and translated into English by John Henry Newman. I have a Baronius set and use it all the time.

I'd highly recommend reading modern translation of the early church theology. I know you have to pay 😮😂 but the difference in both understanding and relevance is just enormous...in a good translation (try the Popular Patristics, for example), the content feels uncannily contemporary. Just mind-blowing!!🎉
Production note: For some reason, on my phone at 1080p, I can't see the details of the surface of the page - even if I use the zoom feature. If you lowered the camera, you wouldn't have to lift the book. Yoda in right corner..."subscribe" in right corner....more book, less desktop. ❤❤❤
Can't do it with the setup I have. That's as close as I can get the camera. Maybe if we get more donors I can afford a better overhead camera. But for now this is the best I can do.
Hi Teacher, thank you for your channel. I recently read the book of Job and have hard time understanding why would God let Satan kill Job's 10 children? God acknowledged Job's a good person. I understand Job's later life was restored and surpassed what he had originally but his original children were dead. I rather ask you than looking this up from Google. Thank you.

Btw, the software VulSearch, besides having the Vulgata, the DR, a Latin dictionary with declensions, also has the entire Glossa Ordinaria, in Latin

Latest version of the NET Bible Full Notes edition has a similar layout, but the notes are entirely modern.
I'd enjoy a full Bible like this as well -- I think it might be easier to learn Latin than to find exactly what we want in English. 😅

I had someone mention an English translation and typesetting project for the Glossa recently. I wonder if this is it (or part of it).

Lowercase "c", yes. Not in the uppercase "C" sense of the word. Eastern Orthodox is just as early, if not earlier.
