You see that Irregular Pricing is a serious issue. Most of the time, it's does farmers that don't keep records who sell at a very ridiculously low price. Catfish Wakeup, you work too hard for someone to devalue your hard work by underpricing and you just sell. let's start doing the right thing. Thank you Farmlady for speaking on this topic
This is right! Advertise as early as possible. I'm still feeding 15 tons of fish on my farm that I can't find customers for. I have a minimum of 2kg per fish in my ponds. So start your marketing early, don't let people tell you that customers are easy to find when you start. BTW, if anyone wants to do business, let me know

This is a big problem in rivers State. Now market women are saying they will only buy at N1100. There needs to be an active association to tackle this because they are taking advantage of the desperate farmers.
Thank you. I am a catfish farmer. This is too much here in PH. Market women determine the price, while the farmers follow, which is not supposed to be. I always grow angry with them. Sometimes, I don't sell them. They will leave you and go to another farm and buy at low as. They don't consider feed price, fuel prices, and other expenses. And again, these farmers do not have record, that is why they sell anything they like to those market women
In poor management, space management should also be part of it. Stocking more than the capacity of the pond will hinder the growth of the fishes. I wish there was something that can done to solve the irregular prices problem. If the irregular prices are between states, it is still manageable (due to demand & supply) but irregular prices within the same state/locality is really bad.
I totally agree. Overstocking is also one of the major reasons. Hopefully if individual state can stick to one price it would really help fish farmers to a great extent
I think there is this issue of some farmer using local sinking feed which they claim is cheaper and at that they sell at less price.. buyers in turn wants to buy from someone using floating feed which is quiet more expensive at the same price. . I hope there is a constant price for sales and not just individual rate.
