      @@AaronOffroader Do you think 35x12.50r17 Yokohama X-MT tires would fit(10mm taller diameter/5mm on the radius and 8mm wider/4mm on left and right sidewall), along with a 50mm body lift and a 50mm suspension lift ? Also a 35x12.50r17 KM3 is 10mm narrower and is only 2mm taller/1mm on the radius, compared to the 315/70r17 KM3 tire size(when both are put on a 17x8.5 wheel/add or subtract 5mm for every .5 inch of wheel width change compared to the wheel width used to give the advertised width); do you think the 35×12.50r17 KM3 would fit better ?

    Hi, I live in Dubai and own a Prado with Petrol engine (4 Ltr , 275HpV6). I am currently running on a 265/70/R17 BFG KO2 with 2" TJM lift and do pretty lot of desert drives and planning to go for bigger tires. But ia m worried as it affects the overall gearing of the vehicle and ruin the engine and transmission if the drive ratios are not corrected to suit larger diameter tyres. Did you do any such corrections as you have increased by almost 5" ?

    Hey Aaron, regarding your tire size choice how come you didn't go for a 285/75/17 which is exactly the same diameter just skinnier, wouldn't the 285's have fitted without mods? Dunno just asking for when I do the same to my Kakadu. Cheers Steve.

    • @AaronOffroader
      @AaronOffroader  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Steve, nahh unfortunately.
      Even the 285/70/17 contact the top of the guard on full uptravel (in the front)
      Putting anything with a larger diametres like 295s a bigger 285, or 305s will contact the guard quite significantly.
      The body lift moves the body up 1"
      Allowing a 1" bigger tyre radius before contact or 2" of diametre.
      So for 285/75/17 or 295/70/17 basically need the same amount of work as the 315/70/17 i put on 👍🏼
      Hope that helps.

  • @tasrocket
    @tasrocket 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    No no no you can’t put 35s on a Prado and No it’s Not legal at all with or without suspension lift
    Currently in NSW the VSB14 allows a 50mm lift
    (increase in vehicle height due to suspension
    and/or tyres), any higher than 50mm will require
    certification. This limits 4WD owners to the
    industry average 50mm
    - or 2"
    as it's often
    referred to - suspension lift and restricts them to
    standard size tyres.
    The new 75mm lift rules will allow a vehicle to be
    fitted with a 50mm suspension lift kit and tyres
    that are 50mm larger in diameter than the
    standard items (only half the increase in the
    tyre's diameter affects the height of the vehicle).
    /In general terms, your average 4X4 ute could
    legally run a 50mm suspension lift and 32" tyres,
    although it will of course depend on the vehicle
    make/model and it's approved standard tyre
    size(s).

    Body lift! I was just starting to like the channel then you go and put a body lift on. They are a bad idea. I have had to fix many body's where the body lift has caused too much movement and cracked the sheet metal.

    I'm surprised there isn't more chatter in the comments about the legality of these mods. Your tyre size is way above legal even with engineering and you can see why from your brake tests. If you have an accident caused by your inability to brake your insurance company will not pay out and that is an expensive lesson to learn
