I think another way to do this to reduce friction is to ask each person to write 2 positive traits and 1 dislike, fold it into two and write the name of the person it's meant for. All papers should be collected and put in a box. Then each person should come out to pick the paper and give it to the person whose name is written on it. While the receiver should read out only the positive trait and keep the dislike to themselves as a reflection point.
Hi Anazodo, thank you for this great variation :) This will certainly reduce friction and I am sure our subscribers love putting this variation into practice!
@@shannonzickefoose8243 Yes, if people in the team don't take criticism well, you can also let the negative characteristic out of the game and only play with positive characteristics :)
I was thinking the same thing. The people I work with would be highly offended by a negative comment - even if it's constructive. Family too - I'd leave that part out.
@@cindys2995 Yes, you are right. Sometimes I think it is better to leave that part out. I was thinking you can also do a second round in which everyone gives each other a positive card of which they think the person who you give it to can use this characteristic a bit more. This way it is still feedback about something someone can improve upon, but in a more positive way. What do you think? Is that still too offensive?
I think it is better to avoid as much friction as possible. When someone thinks something about you which you feel is incorrect, it will cause unnecessary friction. Better to have only positive traits discussed.
Characteristics, adjectives, are very near to judments. Judgements are subjective feelings transformed in general statements, and statements sounds like objective trues when they really are not. For avoiding judgement you can use "positive values" instead of characteristics. And ask them to give the cards to each other with no explanation at all. Then you ask everyone to choose from the cards received the value with they agree most and explain why to the group. You can also ask the person if they think the value has a shadow or negative side, and if he/she can equilibrate it by combining with another value. Finally, you can also ask the team to choose the 3 main values that they think represent all the team together 😊

Hi! I'd love to use this as an Icebreaker Game. Do you think we could just give 2 positive and 1 negative card to make it shorter? Also, would it be possible to go member by member clockwise so everyone has the chance to take/give a card instead of just jumping to whoever gets the card? Thanks!
@@Teamexercises thanks ot os available on google Odd Couples On any team, you'll have people with different personalities. But sometimes, these different personalities actually have things in common. Getting these team members to appreciate their differences and similarities can improve team bonding. Number of participants: 6-20 people Duration: 45-60 minutes Objective: Improve team bonding and communication skills How to play 1. Create a list of odd pairs of objects that, for some reason, go well together. Like "Peanut butter & jelly", "chocolate & coffee", "salt & pepper", etc. 2. Write down the names of objects from each pair on separate sheets of paper. 3. Tape a sheet of paper to a participant's back. Do this for all participants. Try to tape opposing pairs on people with opposing personalities, though this is isn't necessary. 4. Ask participants to mingle with the group. Their objective is to figure out what's written on their backs. The trick is: they can only ask yes/no questions ("Do I add flavor to food? Do I make the food spicy?"). 5. Once participants figure out what's written on their backs, they have to find the other half of their pair. 6. After they've found their pairs, participants have to find three things they share in common with their opposing pair. This is whole exercise
Hye, indeed an interesting game. However, may I know the strengths, limitations and recommendation required for this game? Hope to hear soon. Thank you.
Hi Eswary, Thank you for your comment and question. The strengths for this game is that each person gets insight of how the others see him. This way he can become aware of his own strengths and of things he can improve upon regarding to others The limitations of this game is that you can't do it with a very large group because than each person gets so many cards that he can't oversee it. So groups of maximum 10 persons is recommend. The recommendation for this game is that you always have to play it in a very safe environment. When the atmosphere is the group isn't that safe, please remove the 'negative characteristic' part, and only play with 'positive characteristics'. I hope you will enjoy this exercise!
Hi Alex, thank you for your question. The learning of the game is that you get to know what other people think of you. What they like and what you can improve upon. There are multiple variation you can use to make the exercise fit your goals. You can find them in these comments ad below the video. Good luck! :)
