      Nice one !. I got my MC7000 2yrs ago, so before the Prime4 came out. Thing it is not worth twice the cost for me over the MC7000 with a laptop running Serato. There is not really any additional features. Other than being standalone and can fit an internal HDD.

    • @LaserChair
      @LaserChair 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dj_paultuk7052 Well I guess but I do want to add that the whole workflow and the interface is amazing. Very straight forward and clean. I barely have to put in effort in implementing my ideas. Then again if you are already very used to your setup and you got that muscle memory built in, I'd say it's probably not that big of a change for you. I did find however that a laptop doesn't serve me well while mixing, which is the reason I was looking for a standalone in the first place.

      You won't regret it. Just got a Prime 4 last week and loving it so far. When the SC's originally came out a mate got them and I hated them. The software was terrible and the jogs adjusted tempo too fast for my liking. The only thing I liked was that the loops were perfectly tight without the sync even turned on. But a few software updates later and it's all good, really can't fault it beyond Engine Prime analysing the odd track poorly (still able to use and mix the tracks just fine). But that'd happen with Rekordbox too from time to time. I've put an SSD inside the Prime 4 with all my music on it and it's easy enough to transfer new stuff over with the network cable that comes with it.

    One thing that concerns me from a durability standpoint is the dead space underneath the screen. It's unavoidable with a tilting screen like the P4, but since it's fixed I'd have thought they would have filled in the area at the back, like the XDJ RX. Surely that would be a more durable solution if it was ever dropped or something

    • @digitaldjtips
      @digitaldjtips 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They are not designed for this. If you bought a turntable pre-amp, you could plug the turntable into the Aux, but it would simply be controlled by the single Aux volume control, not routed through the mixer in any way. The Prime 4 is the correct option if you want to incorporate turntables into the mix.

Im not sepcialized on sound engeniering but I know a bit of what I do and that problem was quiet obvious. Not directly but if you're connected to a computer in controller mode via USB both drives should appear as externals on your pc / mac. (P4 since july) Otherwise at this time as far as i'm aware there isn't a provision to mount more than one drive at a time. You can use engine prime to ensure that your cue points / labels and loops etc are moved across as well to your other drive.

    • @djjakobofficial
      @djjakobofficial 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @EricMcKearney
      @EricMcKearney 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@djjakobofficial and to be clear you can absolutely switch to your internal or USB on the fly to load to another deck, I should have specified, just that you'll need to open up the source menu, choose the other drive, and then browse, and then do the same to switch back to the internal or another drive...whereas Tidal and your selected Drive can be switched just by tapping the drive/library button at the top left...so it's not really a limitation that I've come up against much. I usually had a laptop and a free USB stick handy so I could quickly get requests etc loaded if necessary but with Tidal that really relieves that issue.
