How to Update Node.js and NPM in the Terminal on Mac OS

Great stuff man thanks! This is exactly what i was looking for. A short video that quicly shows how to update node and npm. By the way I just updated this myself and npm was updated automatically with node, i didn't have to run the "npm install -g npm" command to get to the latest version (version 8.0.0)

Great video. How do you change the node version to a downgraded version for mac? I need to use version 14 or lower to get my nextjs app to work on cpanel? Every time I try to uninstall node and install version 12 it still shows I have an updated version of 19.5.0. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

I was having a node version error after installing rails 7. I tried updating node from their website, but that did nothing for me. When I ran "nvm install node" it upgraded the version and everything worked like a charm.

I'm on macOS Big Sur and every time I open Terminal, I have to rerun the curl commands for nvm, node and npm to install/update. Oddly enough, I don't have to install node or anything again after running the curl commands. Till I have to reopen terminal. Any clues to what the problem is?

When we download the newest version of node does it automatically remove the files of the old version that was already in my computer or does download the new one while keeping the files of the old one too?

After $ nvm install node, it completes the installation and then it says:
Now using node v16.2.0 (npm v7.13.0)
Then, after restarting the console and $ node -v, it keeps version 10.21.0,
do you know why?

hey, I'm getting an error while opening the terminal it says
npm warn npm does not support node.js v16.2.0
npm warn npm you should upgrade to newer version of node as we.
etc
Can you tell me how to deal with this. Im trying to fix this from a very long time. Thankyou
