Communities secretary, Micheal Gove has given the all clear for Make’s £700m ITV Studios redevelopment - Feb 2024. I remember the building as new after London Weekend Television moving from its Wembley studios in 1968, did see some shows at LWT, The Rag Trade and Aspel & Co, struggling to remember, now in my late 60’s, did meet the late Dickie Davies from World of Sport, and watched the late Cilla Black in reception one afternoon.
ITV are now base at Television Centre in Shepherd's Bush West London, I have past this old site over the years, first coming here in the mids 1990's when it was London Weekend Television and also weekday London local tv service Carlton Television also was in this building.
I remember London weekend television building then it ITV studios now it closed 2 of the half year all the show moved to the television centre in London
Oh well the scaffolding is being put up for its demolition, been agreed with Southwark Council and the landlord, it even had Thames Television Studios on the front, as when Thames TV started its franchise, was broadcasting 7 days until the trade unions stept in.
It's a great shame this is happening, it was state of the art and cost lots at the time, I have watched the documentary about the construction of it and looked amazing. This building brought some great shows that made us Love Weekend Television.
